Can I suggest you just fix the problem, you don't really want to be doing POP3 its horrid. Why can't you do a self signed one if this is only going to be used internally? You can issue a local one and put it as trusted on the finance PCs (even via GPO) and it will work fine then.

As a starter, without even touching licensing, you will want a Remote Access Gateway on the internet to connect to, this needs port 443 and it handles the internal bit. As for what to connect to thats a different can of worms, you could connect to a PC and off you go or a virtual machine or VDI solution. This all depends on what your doing and how you want to do it. Licensing you will need some CALS and windows licenses and check the terms of software agreement EG Adobe may specifically prohibit software being used in a Multi-user / session setup like Terminal Services however some software also doesn't work well over this.

Have you spoken to a licensing specialist as SQL can be licensed via various methods its not like Windows where its quite simple as you can do Core, CPU, User, VM etc... so well worth talking to someone like one of our sponsors and getting them to go through the options. Bad times if it was a peak time you'd only have 5 mins at worse to wait but off-peak 10. Be interesting if they run the ExCeL event shuttle which is handy to get more trains to ExCeL from West Ham to Prince Regent (via Canning Town) which helps move people on.

That be a bit of a walk mate you have to walk down to West Silvertown / Pontoon Dock, around the housing estate and across the footbridge over the dock to the side of ExCeL. I've done the walk from Excel across to the DLR as the DLR points failed just out of Canning town so the trains ran to ExCeL and told us to walk over the bridge and DLR shuttling from Pontoon to Woolwich at that time which was great but took me probably 20 mins (and I had my big suitcase and no lifts on the bridge stairs at night they are locked off for security grrr)

Ssl interception is a great tool, as has been said not doing banking sites but we had it on for everything else as ssl Cerys are peanuts now a days so you just mirror say a gaming website and bash a cheap £15 cert on it and book games in school and your non the wiser till it gets found and blocked. Re-key the cert to a new url and off you go again. Cheap domains and certs have been great for us but are now a downside everything can be ssl for peanuts.

I gave them a seperate install of SpiceWorks and customised all the notices and files to remove IT / Computer and put Site or building something like that and disabled all the scanning / inventory / mapping / stalking options as they don't need them. Reason for this was we could support it, customise it quickly, free and staff could actually work the portal for Spiceworks easily for IT so they had no excuse for building issues not being able to do that. Issue then became despite one being bright green and the other purple (and 2 separate buttons one a Spiceworks logo and the other being a road works sign) people still gave us tickets for toilet paper and the site team for dead IT kit

Server licensing is NOT upgrade in this setup its full fat product unless something has changed since I last did EES licensing.

Travellodges are not bad for the money, maybe avoid Deptford Bridge unless you like hookers we saw plenty of them but its handy for the DLR but the Travelodge staff were great. Tower Gateway is fine and the DLR trip in simples, the one in Woolwich is ok so I'm told and despite its bad press its an ok town
