I couldn't get RDCB to work on Core either. The only thing that ever did, from memory, was the gateway service. Right PITA

I don't know how it works for domestic, but in commerical (eg, schools like we're in) pressure vessels must be checked by competent person every year, and in our case inspected by insurance as well. Might apply for domestic, be worth checking. Especially unvented systems, if the prv doesn't work or the pressure vessel is no good it'll be a bomb if a thermostat fails open. Also is that a soil stack in the void?! I hope that is an air admittance valve on it... eeewwwwww

Defo do what elsie suggested, we have gas fired heating at home. At the moment, if the h/w and c/h come on together the h/w will take a looooong time to warm up. We have to put the h/w on for a bit before the c/h to make sure it gets warm. And that's a 10kw boiler!

Interesting it seems that the system that heats the radiators is also heating a coil inside the tank and it isn't purely for heating the house. It could be either the electronic valve on the pipework leading to the cylinder is stuffed OR there is such demand on the heating in the house the water going through the coils isn't getting hot enough to heat the water in the cylinder. You may need to use the immersion to boost the heat through the winter months, not 24/7 but as I said a couple of hours per day. It would cost you 6kw per day for 2 hours, 6x13.5 (average electricity cost) 81p/day - £25/mo I do think you may need to get somebody familiar on these systems in though I'm not familiar with electric heated systems like this... rip it out and put gas in

To me it looks as if the tall unit is heating the water going to the radiators judging as it has flow return. The Tempest will be your calorifer (water heater) and will heat the water contained within and then keep it hot as well - within reason. I don't know what power the immersion is specified on there but for arguements sake it's a 3kw model, if you only run it for 1hr a day you're only putting 3kw into the tank and given how cold the water is probably taking more than 3kw of heat out of it. As a starter I would suggest running it for an hour in the morning (depending on your use) and a couple of hours in the evening. It will cost more, but it will ensure the water stays hot. However if it used to be hot and now is not, it may be worth calling somebody in to take a look. The water coming in to your house at the moment will be very cold so it will have to work harder. Try running it longer at first, see if that works. Also, see if there is a small pump attached to the water heater. There will be one for the central heating, but this cylinder may have a destratification pump which should circulate the water in the cylinder to heat it evenly, if this isn't working it may be stopping it heating up properly (this would explain the noise) Those are my best guesses! Good luck Also - with regards to the pressure, look for a filling loop for the radiator circuit. It may be worth taking some pictures of the cupboard all of this is in so we can pick it apart a bit better. Both systems, unless the radiator circuit is vented, should have a expansion vessel.

Just don't install it on a DC it will cause you problems when you come to upgrade/move/decomission that DC Run up a server core VM and run it off that or if you have any other boxes doing menial tasks such as NPS throw it on there

Anybody else on a full 2016 RDS setup? If so, running Gen2 VM's, are you having issues recreating collections?

You will need the subscription tier of Meraki to accomplish this, unfortunately the free tier doesn't allow this. As for stopping the passcode behaviour you will need to make sure you have set restrictions but not sure on Meraki how far this goes (I use Profile Manager)

When I ran that there was a lot of not much going on... no real clues as to what could be going on which was odd. Login times are down to betweeen 1m30s-2m for a logon from boot and 30-40s for a system that's been up for a bit Moved on to other stuff for the minute but I am going to come back on this and try to diagnose what on earth was causing this

Yep checked all of that and about normal and the host not overloaded either so that checked out as well. No SRP but Applocker is set and working fine, and file transfer is OK and no saturated links - DNS all resolves properly too I have made a break through... a drive map may be the root of my problems as when it's taken out (been deconstructing the GPO line by line) the logon times drop from 4m50s to 1m30s on mobile and 50s on desktops (35s on vdi with ssd) Put my new policy in to place for now and I'll do some messing tomorrow to nail that issue down Very odd

Well I thought updates too it's the most logical thing but even deployed from the image (updated in Aug 16) it's doing it so not so sure. Did a bare bones no updates install with just GPO applied and very similar once again so even more confusing! Also took Impero off in case it was that and no luck. No drivers or programs deploying through GPO, scaled back as much as I possibly can out of GPO for testing but just no success Just trying my Win10 image to see what happens with that Keep throwing ideas there has to be something I've missed

Thanks mate - already doing all that we're a Win8/10 exclusive network and until recently not had many problems. All cruft has been cut out and the startup wait is on too or lots of moaning about no network connectivity and I've cut out logon scripts too Still rubbish

Morning all I'm in need of help... we're currently dealing with an issue where logon times on mobile devices are taking in excess of 90 seconds to log on - sometimes taking up to 5 minutes. Nothing has really changed, no issues are present within layer 2 or 3 that I am aware of, nothing has changed server side apart from updates and the clients are all running a standard image which was rolled out over the summer however issues have only come to light over the past 2 or 3 weeks (which makes me think something has changed - but I don't think anything has and I can't find anything changed!) So I am running out of ideas, a performance trace shows the explorer init stage taking a really long time to complete (3.15 of a 4.58 logon) the winlogon init isn't too bad at 74 seconds although this is also a little excessive. I've re-written user and computer GPO's and kept them as lean as I can possibly make them, I have tested with and without mandatory profiles made either the dodgy way or the official copy profile way using sys prep. I have tested on wireless and wired with very similar results and also find at times desktops and virtual desktops also show excessive logon times although not to the same degree. I've disabled A/V (Windows Defender managed with SCCM), made sure updates are managed by SCCM and me and also tried logon to a bare bones Windows install with no apps or imaging. All of my images have the Windows AppX's packages removed and general cruft cleared out. So what am I missing? It's not right but I can't put my finger on why! Any suggestions are welcome as I know I am missing something but for the life of me can't think what Please help

Is that spinning rust in a laptop kevrage or a desktop? I'm really struggling with logon times on laptops at the moment for some reason, nothing has changed but it's all gone a bit wrong! This is Windows 8 but Windows 10 isn't much better.

For the supporting roles such as CB, Web Access, Licensing etc... why on earth would I publish a server core collection to my users

Just an FYI - can't run RDS on Core installations. Has to be full fat Windows Server. Wasted a whole afternoon finding this out...

Might want to watch that mate the MSFT docs show the CB should be upgraded to 2016 first followed by the virtualisation/session hosts and then the rest as/when

Question - moving my 2012 RDS up to 2016 (virtualised desktops, not session host) and I have an odd issue where my Windows 10 box can't manage the farm when the new Server 2016 CB is active? Make the old 2012 CB active and it is OK. Windows 8/2012 can manage it fine! Just says: A Remote Desktop Services deployment does not exit in the server pool. When... well, it does. And all of the servers with any applicable roles are added to server manager! Other than the management side, it all works as it should. Moved one of the hosts up to 2016 in anticipation of getting some Gen2 vm's produced which should massively improve things.
