We had quite the farm of Netwrae 6 servers spread over 8 different sites 4-5 servers at each site - They were definitely Dell servers not sure on which model and we used HP for storage. TBH - I do miss Console One, and the Novell Login client was good too. I liked being able to login to a restricted account (if a user needed something installing locally) and then bringing up the login box whilst still logged into that users account and login to mine over the top and have full admin rights, then just detach my account and viola program installed user can get on with whatever they needed to do. The uptimes on the servers were good, we had 6 years on one of them!

Zenworks is the absolute boss, there is NOTHING you couldnt do/manage with Zenworks... App management was great!!!

Have you added permissions the files on the server ? Have the users got read & execute on the permissions for the files ? I had this once and I think I fixed it by editing the permissions so that users had read and execute.

The only version I have managed to play with was 6.5, it was fantastic! Miles ahead of Windows Server. Never played with OES2 but wouldn't mind seeing what it can do. Sadly, everyone I know who ran Novell have now gone fully Windows.

I would go with SpamAssasin, dont think it has anything for the end users though.

All IBM here for everything, except our "Lab"servers. We have an IBM Flex System Blade Server, and 2 x3650 M3's. We actually got quite a good deal with IBM and Spares / Upgrades arnt that badly priced actually, I've just priced up 2 2TB drives to add to the main server and its come out at less than a grand, fr both drives and delivery. In the Lab we have Dell 2950, can't fault it. Brilliant server! Just need the rack rails for it!

My DC was originally migrated from an old VM server to the new IBM server, the old Dell had 80 GB space so I only assigned 40 to this one and have now migrated it to a much bigger server - I dont have the option to extend the drive on right click.. anyone know how to do it ?

I have the profiles redirected, the homes folers are on the server and are included in the backups. Nothing (supposed) to be stored on the local machine. Quite scared actually - drive C of my DC says it has 216 MB free. Good job that isnt the drive for the profiles.

Hi folks, I currently use Cobian to backup my roaming profiles folder. Every Monday is Full back up day, every other day we have Incrementals. A user has deleted a file this morning, and a backup had taken place yesterday. I thought that this would be a simple browse to the backups folder and have a look at the profile from yesterday and recover the file, but oh no no no. Cobian seems to of only backed up about 3 user folders out of 20 odd. And thats a Full Backup. So the incrementals folders have nothing in them!! This was working before and now it has stopped for some unknown reason. I think it's the .V2 folder thats messing eveything up. In the backup settings I have set the profiles folder on the server to be backed up and everything in it. Mine seems to be not working, what does everyone else do for this kind of backup ?? Id go along with the folder redirection settings, make sure you disable them and test, and then re-enable them and see if the problem persists. Folder redirection can be tricky. Also make sure the permissions are set correctly on the locations where you are redirecting folders to.

I've created a new cert, but apparently its Certificate signing request pending. ?? How do I complete the pending request ?

.local here too. Any new domains I build I'll be using ".internal".

If I already have self-signed certs - how can I make a new cert with a different domain name to the one i'm currently using and self sign it ? For example, the company I am managing exchange for is previously company.local, all certs are with that name internally, and they also have company.com certs too. Said company has changed name and now wants certs to be newcompany.local and newcompany.co.uk and self sign the certs so that when Outlook is opened it doesnt display the cert warning. Before they changed mail hosts and domain names it was fine, but now they've changed mail hosts and domain names under a different domain, autodiscover keeps popping up when Outlook is opened. The internal domain is still company.local and is the same as it has always been. Will this work ? Thanks In Advance! Chris.

Is it not ILO ? I know some of our IBM's have "Phantom IP's" this is for connecting to them remotely via console, it's sop you can interact with BIOS and see it reboot etc.

I use Fedora across the board for anything Laptop/Desktop. Servers I use CentOS. I have just installed WINE on my Fedora laptop, now usually Im not fussed about any windows programs in Linux, but I needed this one program as Linux doesnt have an alternative, I've always had issues with wine, but this time no problems at all. Installed wine with one command, downloaded the .EXE and ran it, the Windows program runs great, no issues at all. I tend to stick with XFCE Desktops on Fedora, I dont like the new GNOME at all.
