you may also need to issue: ntpdate *dcservername or IP* to make sure the clocks are synced. also have a look at the command *klist* see if you kerberos sessions has timed out. If it has use *kinit* and then Administrative account to create a new ticket. Also, you should be able to see your Debian machine in AD. you can also use *getent group* to make sure the groups of users in AD have been synced. If all above is correct then it should just work.

Might be quicker just to reimage your machines to wipe profiles. I've never had a problem with Roamings, on XP and 7. I worked at a college that had thousands of users staff and students. I think the key was when machines were migrated from XP to 7, they were completely reimaged clean machines, and Disk Quotas (2GB Student, 3GB Staff) were inplace so that the profile didnt inflate. Redirects were in place for Documents (in profile), Desktop (in profile) and Start Menu (Global). AppData was also redirected to the profile. the .V2 folders were basically empty as everything was redirected into the profile. Mapped Drives were assigned to all accounts under AD to the profile. I've never used Mandatory before. How would that work if Desktops were redirected into the Profile... and the user saves files to the desktop (they all do it) ?

Could you create an account, then use local policies to lock it down so it's much like a guest account but not if you know what I mean ? You could configure everything you want on the user account then apply the policies.

I don't know of businesses or schools etc that have migrated to 8.1 in the local area, I've migrated over to 8.1 here but we were forced into doing so. If I had the choice 7 would be here until like XP, it is no longer supported.

Monitors are real cheap nowadays... the Zoostorm PC's arnt bad either. Or you could get a monitor and one of the HP servers for testing things on like VMWare or such like.

All of the above, tools for everything and on DVD / USB the software used most on your network along with maybe a few images. I find a spare usb stick with WinPE on is handy (Especially when I had an XP Network). I'm often seen out and about with Cup in hand.... I think sub-consciously it's to drop a hint but no one ever seems to get it.

OwnCloud, Tell them it's like dropbox. what ever they want to sync the drop into the owncloud directory on there area then it will sync and be accessible from the web client or desktop client at home. http://owncloud.org/

This also happens when the 'Themes' service stops. Try restarting the service and logging off and back on. You'll notice that it's not quite the classic theme, it's much more washed out which usually means it's the themes service.

Sea Monkey is good, and if I remember rightly it has a built in web page editor which can be handy. Sea Monkey is basically an older looking, stripped version of Firefox. How I remember the days of... Netscape Navigator.... And also anyone use the one that was on 98/ME... it was bundled with MSN ? To be fair on my machine now I have Chrome which is my main browser, I also have Firefox on my machine for testing those sites that have broken but Chrome tells me are working when they are not... and Avant simply because the CCTV system here uses IE for it's web interface and I refuse to use IE - Hate it with a passion.

When I moved in with my wife before we got married, she had a cat (Pebbles) and her dog (Prince). Using Chrome here, use it everywhere as I have it synced to my Google account so I have my bookmarks etc on any machine, Never had any issues with Chrome. Not a single one.

@BKGarry - VNC in Centos is yum install vnc-server - or in recent releases...it's yum install tigervnc-server... then use vncserver command and type a password twice.... you may need to open up the ports in the firewall (system-config-firewall) in CLI. PM me if you'd like to go into anything in detail or if you want to chat about any of the CentOS stuff - I'm sure i Can be of help!! The blank screen is probably because you may need to install X-Windows and the GNOME or XFCE desktop.
