WSUS, with MDT to deploy the updates when Imaging. Thats how we handle it. and then it's down to GPO and WSUS afterwards.

Sounds like the issue from yesteryear when Juniper released an update that caused a core dump failure.... could be a similar thing again.

Looking at taking it very soon, I want to get RedHat certified.. the closest I ever came to being Linux certified is my old Novell Certs. Hopefully will be LInux Pro certed in the next 2 years, I admin Linux servers on a daily basis. Makes sense really. Although, I've been working with Linux for many years in various different scenarios from web hosting, email and general file servers and even at one point a full 150 client network with Authentication through 389. I do ask my self whether I need be to be certified as this is the second job that I've introduced Linux to the environment, and I've never been asked even when supporting Linux servers whether I'm certified. Linux does have its place, especially if your trying to save on costs and have a bit of experience, really you need to go through as much material online as you can, learn how to install Linux to start off with go simple and use something like CentOS or Ubuntu, learn things like how to use the 'man' command and how to update the OS for latest patches and upgrades, Debian based systems such as Ubuntu use a command such as 'sudo apt-get update'. First of all, learn how Linux works, how the file-system is laid out and how the OS uses it, learn about how the security works such as in RedHat you have IPTables and SELinux. Which you'll learn to love. I have a dropbox folder with every Linux training manual known to man, as I use to teach Linux courses, complete with a Linux challenge... which gets people to learn how the OS works and how to configure so that you can use it in a file server environment running Samba. With no GUI of course. all command line. For simplicity I recommend trying something like CentOS... Thats my preferred Linux Distro anyway. Centos is RedHat based.

Hi all, I have an issue with an on-premise Exchange server, receives emails if you send them too @domain.local, but not when you send them to @fqdn.co.uk. Receives a bounce-back. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

What sort of switches are you running ? it may be that the vlans can talk to each other because the switch is doing it's Inter-VLAN routing (if its a layer 3). You may need to add policies so that traffic can't travel between VLANs.

Might be worth playing with 2012 just with Shell Console only no GUI, 'specially if you're going to go down the certification route.

No usually its done by the immobiliser or a cut off valve... However I suspect the fuel pump fuse was in the box under the bonnet and not the one under the glove box, if so Focuses like to let water in, and the fuse might of just gotten a bit of damp in.

Morning all, Most of you know I've passed my test recently, I'm looking at hiring a van soon to move some family members. However checking my license it seems to me that I dont have a "light van/luton" category. Can anyone shed any light on this ? DVLA site states about what the categories are BUT it states the old license not the new one, and the new one is confusing. Thanks in Advance

Dont think there is one on the mark 1, 1.5 Focus... it's part of the immobilizer... and thats another thing to check.. the immobilizer isnt causing this is it ? best way you can check is by turning your key till the instrument panel illuminates, listen for a slight hum which means fuel pump is spinning, preferably do this with your spare key (one with the blue transponder chip). Should be a lttle red flashing LED on the dash which should go off when you turn the key in the ignition switch, if it stays on then immobilizer could be stopping the engine starting.

Check the injectors.... Size 13 Spanner, undo injector one by one and see if fuel squirts everywhere out of all injectors. Have you checked the HT leads, wait till dark, pop bonnet and get someone to crank it whilst your looking at th HT leads.. if they are faulty you'll know as you'll see the spark in the lead and it looks like Blackpool illuminations lol. In failing that you could always try an old fashioned bumpstart... presuming its not the Auto model.

Use one of the routers as an access point not a router, use 1 router on one ip range, use both switches if you need to. Yes, many companies etc do use more than one router, BUT they are business / enterprise grade & do different things. YOu need to eliminate one of your routers and use it just as a bare acess point bridged with the current wifi network.

Why is router one plugged into router 2 ? "We have a Netgear WGR614v9 (Router 2) connected to a Netgear WGR614v9 (Router 1)" How are these configured ? If they are both plugged directly into each other depending on how they are configured your going to have problems, DHCP for instance doleing out IP's on both routers could be on 2 different ranges, thats one issue. You could plug both routers into either or both switches, what are you trying to achieve ? Best option, plug all your devices into one switch, use one router doling out DHCP on one IP Range. Sounds like all you need. FYI, dont worry about VLANS those switches arne't capable.

You can authenticate against AD if you want but dont have too.... You can block the 443 if you want

I've never had a problem at all... sometimes it blocks too much but you just add exclusions for domains or whitelists. It blocks 9/10 proxy sites too... logging is quite good. You can customize all the block pages etc to what ever you want too.

For primaries... Completely open source... Linux box (CentOS or Ubuntu) running squid and DansGuardian and set to download latest filter lists off the internet... I may even run Snort on a couple of boxes. I have a couple of these boxes in primaries... been running strong for 3+ years, nice simple easy web interface to block or unblock anything. One of them still in a Secondary School, Ubuntu server running Squid, DG and Webmin for management. It has 2 network cards one for internet and one for LAN to switch... been running about 3 years with no issues.

Pfsense here too... infact I use pfsense everywhere I can, for various different things and this is one of the segmenting and separating networks.

Thanks @Blue_Cookeh... already have this and Logmein in place.. was just wondering if there was an open source Linux based type thing I could use to replace them both. Just something Im looking at im all for free and open source and was just wondering whether there was a free product that is like the paid for subscription based ones. Looking on the net seems not.
