I upgraded my late 2009 Mac Mini to Mojave last night. Runs smoother than High Sierra did, and dark *cough* macOS Mojave Patcher

I've got 5x new boxed HP OC20 access points to get rid of. Looking for around £90 each posted. Or make me an offer for more than 1.

Is this one any good? http://download.viglen.co.uk/files/Motherboards/EQ300/Manual/Viglen_EQ300_Manual.pdf

We use 1 mPort in the server room, with two ports connected to a temp/humidity sensor to monitor both (https://help.ubnt.com/hc/en-us/articles/204960024-Custom-Sensor-How-to-change-the-mFi-THS-to-a-Humidity-Sensor) and a motion sensor on the 3rd port. The graphs on the controller make it easy to see if rises in temperature are linked to people going in and leaving the door open etc.. As our office isn't next to the server room I might set up another mPort and connect it to a siren as an output for when the temperature of the server room gets too hot!!

Another vote for Ubiquiti mFi kit.

Sorry, a little too late, sent one of those off with PRM a couple of months ago for recycling.

What does a T series look like?

If you're buying more than a couple of items speak to MS Dist for a quote rather than just going off the website list prices. We've had quite substantial discounts when ordering quantities from them.

I'd check your licensing before you decide to go for 4 hosts. The cheap licensing for Essentials/Essentials plus only covers 3 hosts. If you require more than 3 you need to go up to the Standard edition.

You know you work in an independent school when detentions are given out when pupils don't wear their cloak to chapel.

You can use the seconary port for connecting another device, PC etc.. I guess it could be useful in areas where there's only a single network cable and you need an AP and a PC.

They offer 24/7 support. I've had some quick resolutions to simple queries via the online chat, on the other hand I've got an ongoing case open with them about getting UniFi radius authentication working with Smoothwall, this has been going on for a few months, and due to their support being in the US there can be delays with responses.

I didn't need anything too flash so picked up a refurbished HP Elite 8300 (3rd gen i5, 8GB RAM, 240GB SSD) and stuck a Nvidia 1050ti in it. Nice and nippy for everyday use and I can play games (maybe not the latest and greatest at max settings) without issue.

I haven't used them, but the offerings from @StoneComputers Encore look fairly decent : https://www.encore-pc.co.uk/laptops

Bought around 200 PCs from them. They're certainly legit.

Yes, the VGA port on the back works fine. We upgraded the ram in our old UTM1000 and it's now used as a backup to our main S8 appliance.

Another option is the Ubiquiti Nanoswitch, powered via 24v POE, then provides 3x 24v POE outputs, only really useful if you're using Ubiquiti cameras that require 24v power. https://linitx.com/product/ubiquiti-nanoswitch-4port-outdoor-switch-nsw/15220

The RM Notebook 300 is based on the Clevo W760C, there's an RM BIOS here: http://support.rm.com/technicalarticle.asp?cref=tec1764370 Not sure if it's newer than what you're currently running. It reports at v1.00.09

Quite a bit of snow up here in North Yorkshire! Lots of schools around are shut. Hardly any staff in school today but we're open

We're running VMware vSphere on 3x HP DL385 hosts and a SAN. We looked at the costs for extending warranty on the HP hosts after the 3 years but it was ridiculous. Decided that as we could tolerate 2x host failures we'd continue without warranty. Bit the bullet on a new SAN as it's our single point of failure and didn't want to risk running on something without warranty.

We used to have around 100, now it's about 70, which is still too many. About 550 students 2-18.

Ubiquiti Unifi in a secondary school environment
Chris_ replied to DrCheese's topic in Wireless Networks
We've got around 100 APs installed across our site. The UniFi wireless works well. What doesn't work well is the whole BYOD/RADIUS/802.1x Smoothwall authentication. I'm still working with the Ubiquiti support team to get this resolved as Smoothwall couldn't care less. -
I use http://www.jpsltech.co.uk for replacement Casio remotes. Always seem to be reasonably priced for a genuine Casio remote.

I like using these in comms cabinets: https://www.ebuyer.com/340171-tripplite-500va-19-inch-rackmount-smartpro-ups-6-c13-outlet-smx500rt1u They're around 10cm shallower than the APC one which is very useful as some of our cabinets are very shallow!

Plugged it in to test and it brought the network to a halt! Pretty sure somebody else on here had the same experience. It has sat on a shelf since.
