  1. Do you own the shs.com domain? If not thats your problem. I quick fix would be to change the '$CFG->wwwroot' value to 84.12.68.108/moodle. Not knowing how you have this setup could break it. You would then have to access it by the ip address.
  2. You must have given moodle the muddle.shs.com name when you installed it. Does that work on site? Are you using a local ip for it?
  3. Moodle thinks its installed on http://muddle.shs.com and tries to get the graphics from there. muddle.shs.com doesn't resolve for me. So it looks like a DNS problem. EDIT just editted my host file and added your ip address in as muddle.shs.com and it works!
  4. Can you post your current setup? I'm sure something could be worked out.
  5. It depends on your current network setup. You will need to look at QOS as well.
  6. You need to download the teaming software for the network cards. Install it and configure a team.
  7. As Geoff suggests go for the procurves if you have the cash. I have some Netgear layer 2 managed switches here and i've had no trouble with them.
  8. I've just done this. The clients on dhcp should just pickup the new ip address. Dns will update on its own. The only main problem I had was with print servers. I had to go around and reconfigure them. They were on static but now they work on dhcp with resevered addresses. Have you looked at subnetting/vlaning your network off? You broadcast domain will be getting a bit big with all them clients.
  9. The 2900's will take the 10gb modules. If you have the cash go for these otherwise the 2600 are very good.
  10. I'd be very intrested as well. I'm in the process of removing ranger from the network.

    PXE Ghost

Have a look at this. May be some use. http://www.lhsc.vic.edu.au/Downloads/pxeghost/PXEGhost.zip Andy
  14. I run Backep Exec 10D. You will only need one copy of this plus agents for what you want to backup. (exchange etc etc) You just install the agent on the system you want to backup. I've got a 3.3TB Eonstor raid array. I backup everything to the disk first then duplicate to tape. Works really well as you can restore files without having to find a tape. The tapes become backups of the backups. It will do most of the things you want apart from replace your robocopy script. If you need any more info let me know Andy

    Slow Logons

The clients hang at "Please wait while loading personal settings" I've checked DNS settings as suggested. I don't understand why this only happens a few times a day.
  16. I'm still on 1.6 All of my students are imported from our MIS system by a csv file. I set staff up manually. Then the accounts are linked to AD. I've set moodle so there is no guest view. Users are forced to login. When a user logs in (staff or student) they only see courses they are enroled onto. I setup two courses Staff IT help and Student IT help. The staff intranet is a meta course under the staff it help course. You could do the same for students. The staff are very happy now as they can access the staff intranet from home. If you need any more info let me know. Andy

    Slow Logons

I've been reading through the slow logons threads. I'm getting the same problem but at certain times of the day. When the changeover to the second period is one. It's taking students 10 to 20 minutes to log on whens this is happening. Any server with ranger installed hits 100% cpu uasges ans stays there. I've moved ranger onto its own server. Applied the settings suggested for Sophos. Installed SP2 on to the servers. but it won't go away. The hardware in the servers is up to the job. Anyone any ideas? Ranger 5.6.0.1169 Sophos 6.5.4 R2 Windows 2003 SP2 Clients Windows XP SP2
  18. I've got our staff intranet running on moodle. All of the courses are hidden. The staff members are just students on the intranet course. If you need any more info let me know.
  19. Found this site and i'm well impressed. I'm running a network in a sixth form in Leeds. 600 Workstations + too many servers :-)
