An accountant would be a good idea, even just to make sure you are doing it all correctly. May I recommend this site Property Investment | Landlord Blog | Landlord Advice | Landlord Information - WARNING - There is a lot of swearing on this site but it's a landlords blog and he seems to post a ton of information.

The government consider any profits as taxable and as your mortgage is tax deductible then you wont be making a profit. Essentially you will be making a loss so you will not need to pay tax. You will however still need to declare this to your tax office and declare the earnings, they will then record your earnings even at a loss and you can carry this loss over every year until you make a profit.

Arrgghh!! Pet hate of mine. That and holding the power button when they can't be bothered to shut down.

How amny printers do you have in school
gl3nnym replied to rckngslnd's topic in Network and Classroom Management
Near on 200 printers, mostly Brothers. Too many imo. -
We have about 1200 pupils and there is just me and one other techie.

We have a support contract with RM on our servers and that covers the replacement of AIT drives... Not that this information helps.

I have been using SIMS on Vista Business for nearly 6 months and it has never let me down yet.

Is a shame... exported.

Another vote for Wordpress hosting on my own VPS. Works very well and is known by near on everybody!

WebFusion and PipeTen are also good, UK providers too.

We have a great link here, about 60MB connection. It rarely goes down but if it does then students will still need access to their work. Sounds to me like storing production servers (file server) online with Amazon for example is not the best idea. How about backup solutions? Having an offsite backup is another idea we are looking at for data protection.
-
I am thinking more like file servers and backup domain controllers. Would other schools see this as a viable option?
-
Hi All Wasn't sure where to post this so I will put it here. As a school we are looking at virtualisation and saving costs on electricity and server replacements. In light of this we was thinking about hosting some of our servers in the 'cloud'. Do you think this is viable? For example to have non-critical servers that we could access like a normal server as if it was in the building but stored somewhere else like rackspace? Any advice appreciated. glennym

Actually I don't think a repeater can be added without the source code anyway... I think. As you can tell, web dev is not exactly my best friend either. Sorry I couldn't be more help.
-
OK I see what you mean now, sorry I should have had a look myself. Erm I guess you could add another asp:repeater like the "homepagelinks" one. You could then put a horizontal rule between the repeaters and format it how you like.
-
@mrbios You should just be able to edit the master and add to put a horizontal rule between the icons.

Network Administrator Permissions vs Local Admin

I agree with jamesfed, re-enable UAC as this will give you the option of adding extra credentials and should provide any relevant error messages. -
Network Administrator Permissions vs Local Admin

Never used 2008 yet but does User Account Control run on there? Might be blocking it in the background. Any errors? -
I have used our 'folders.school.area.sch.uk/Extranet/' address for the Login Tracker but when a user logs on we are getting some kind of permission error. I have allowed the file in RMMC. Any help appreciated.
-
Huh just got a bit of trouble on the lesson change there. Pupils were trying to log on and the log on tracker dialog came up saying "registering logon" but it never got any further. Had to quickly remove it from group policy to get them logged on.

Hello, thanks again for a great app. Still in testing but the function to access documents from home is a big hit so far! I am having a little trouble with the Logon Tracker. I followed the video step by step but no data seems to appear in the tracker list. I cannot find any errors and nothing appears in Event Viewer. I downloaded the HAP Logon Tracker.exe from the website and added it to the 4 relevant folders in GPMC. The parameter I used was the https url for the Extranet e.g. https://portal.domain.com/Extranet/. Is this right or should it be the local address e.g. https://serverName/RM/Extranet/? Many thanks in advance.

@nickbro - I have tried changing the OU path using the HAP Config tool but it refuses to save when I click Finish. It looks like this tool is not working on my system (even though it did work the first time I run it). I have now instead manually edited the web.config file and got it working through that. I am not good with this web development stuff so please excuse my dumbness. Love the software! Credit to the developer :-D

We had this exact same issue and solved it by adding the url for Google Images to the allow list. Baffled us for a while too!

First of all let me say that so far this software looks fantastic! Unfortunately I am running into a little problem. I went through all the config and logged on just fine. Good stuff! I then tried to run HAP Config.exe to go through and change all the little settings to make drives/booking etc work correctly. I edited a few things but upon clicking Finish I get an unhandled exception (error which is below). If I click Continue then nothing happens, if I click Close then the .exe closes. When I opened HAP Config.exe again none of the settings were saved. Without changing anything, I clicked through and upon clicking Finish I get the same error. Seems I cannot use HAP Config. EDIT: Maybe the Event Logs would be of more use: Event code: 3005 Event message: An unhandled exception has occurred.
