Had a feeling this might be the case, but thought I'd managed to run it in the past without such tools... Pupils are doing some PHP this year, any suggestions on the best way to implement this into classrooms, or would it be a matter of Xampp (or other alternative) on all the machines?

As above, something isn't right... No one should know or be able to figure out your password but you. I'd guess they're UK based if that's where they're saying their "headquarters" are, but either way I'd be complaining... Name and shame??

Not sure if this should be in this thread, coding or web dev, so apologies if it's incorrect. I'm not sure if I'm imagining something here, but in the past, I'm sure I've been able to create a PHP file, and just launch it in IE and view it as I would an HTML file... I'm trying that now, in IE11 and IE9 (Win7) and the file is launching as a download. Should it work as I'm wanting it? Am I missing something... I know I've done this in the past I just can't think how. Thanks in advance.

I still appear to be getting the error in Chrome - Wonder if it's a problem with my PC or ISP... Will try from home. Just getting to the homepage I get the error in Chrome

Not sure is there's an ongoing problem with Edugeek at the moment, but everytime I try loading it in Chrome I get: But working fine in IE... Anybody else? Just wondering if it's me or if Edugeek's having a few issues. It was working fine yesterday, only had it since this morning.

This is where I've been coming up against a brick wall - Struggling to find any info on or about this device, let alone anything that's listed as compatible... Is there any other way to find out if it's compatible other than what the developer has released or just flashing the recovery? I'm assuming not... Samsung / LG /HTC etc devices tend to be much easier to do this sort of thing with - why they didn't buy the Nexus 7 tablets is beyond me! :/ haha - that was my second port of call after Edugeek

I thought the same, but when you go to remove the app in safe mode the uninstall option is greyed out - granted other things could be done in safe mode as the applock app doesn't run. Then again, here I don't think they'd know what safe mode was or how to get into it, so I'm probably safe.

I was using the incorrect backup password. (Is it home time yet?) it's currently running again at 128mb and still going. Fingers crossed. edit - This worked better than before, but I still have to manually disable all the system apps that we don't want and uninstall the rubbish that comes pre-installed such as Skype. I've done "adb uninstall" for the apps I need to remove, but the system apps won't uninstall without root and they won't disabled without root. My thoughts were I could automate it all with a script but unfortunately not due to needing root for the disable command (silly in my opinion).

Sorry for taking so long to get back, but I've been working at other sites so not got a chance to have a look at this: Tried this already, but as @DMcCoy mentioned it didn't work brilliantly - not everything appeared to restore quite as I wanted it to. edit - Actually, I have tried this without the "-apk -shared -nosystem -all -f tablet_backup.ab" - but now tried with and just get a 0kb backup file. Thanks for getting back to me - When I run this it just boots to a black screen with "=> FASTBOOT mode..." in the bottom left

Install AppLock to lock out the Play Store - Failing that, disable in in settings and lock down the settings? Also, they should auto sync if the phone is lost or stolen using the Google Account, or, if you set it up, your Samsung account. Unfortunately, no decent way of app deployment with Android :/ facing a similar issue myself.

OK, So i've manage to get a driver for a similar tablet, a modified the inf so it installs for this tablet and the adb commands are now working... Should this be needed by anyone else at some point: Download -> http://support.lenovo.com/en_US/downloads/detail.p​age?DocID=DS022366 Add the two lines below - under the exisiting Lenovo devices mentioned in both the x86 and x64 sections of the inf. ;Lenovo A7600 %CompositeAdbInterface% = USB_Install, USB\VID_17EF&PID_7731&MI_01

Already tried some adb commands via the PC, but it would appear there are no drivers available for the device so the PC doesn't recognise it... the commands don't send it just shows as "device not found"

Thanks for the speedy reply. I was thinking Nandroid myself, but wasn't sure, as you said, if the IDs would get messed up - I've never had to do it on this scale before. I have the device in front of me know, so anything you have to help would be great. edit: Forgot to mention - The device is brand new running Lenovo's base software so I think the bootloader is locked. The only way I know of checking this is a dial code, but it being a tablet, there's no dialer available. A fastboot mode is available in the boot menu however.

The school have just purchased 75 Lenovo A7600 tablets (Lenovo Tab A10). Basically, I want to build one up and image the rest so I thought the best way to do this would be with a custom recovery - any thoughts? Any suggestion on how to do so with this model? I was thinking the best way would be to flash something like Clockwork Recovery, then use that to backup the first device and then restore it on the rest. Obviously as the tablet isn't very popular model, there's very little online about doing this on this model so I'm a little hesitant as only done it with my own mobiles in the past, and I know some hardware only works with certain recoverys. The mobiles I've done it on in the past, have been popular devices therefore heavily documented online on doing such things. At the minute it's taking about 40mins per tablet to setup to how we want it so I think this would be a quicker way, if we had say 10 SD cards and just worked through them. We don't seem to be able to find drivers for this device so would all need to be done on the device. Lenovo have said we can do what we want with the software, their warranty still stands unless we start physically tinkering with the hardware. Any help and/or advice is highly appreciated.

For anyone with a similar interest in the future - I've found Elgg. It's used to create a social network style site and has a lot of support online... Seems we'll be able to do exactly what we want with it.

We don't have one unfortunately - something the school never wanted. I have been looking at Dolphinphp to put something together myself and host it on our web server... Anyone ever used it? Or know of a free alternative? There's other departments wanting to do something similar, and it seems this might answer everyones questions. Obviously, this would need to be monitored, and only pupils who need it for lessons would get an account to restrict misuse. Obviously, personal messages would also need disabling.

Thanks - I think youtube is a no go from the schools perspective. Soundcloud would be great, if only it wasn't for the public comments side of it... The more I think of it, the more it needs to be totally seperate, so the student logins only work on the school's posts, so only something like Edmodo (where we'd have a private network) would do the job. I think I'm asking too much now I've thought about it

Does anyone know of a site similar to Soundcloud, that's better for use in school? The music department are wanting to have a way that students can post music and maybe videos, and allow other students to view them and comment on them, but it's got to be private to the school for obvious reasons. I was thinking maybe Edmodo, but I don't think you can upload MP3 tracks? If no specific site, any ideas on a way this can be achieved?

I think they have, but I think these are the first major plans to use this sort of thing properly.

Turns out they've actually been a really big help... Server room is spotless, office is spotless(ish), all our new laptops imaged, two trolleys reimaged... Going to update our IT suites tomorrow for things like flash, and get some new software rolled out. A pile of faulty laptops worked through, found faults, and fixed half up with the other half. TBF, they've actually got some decent experience from it too.
