  1. Have you ever seen how much Capita actually pay? I know a lot of us do it for the love of the job... But their pay scales are decidingly stingy even by Education standards.
  2. That's what I have just been told by Capita after having queried it. I saw in the release notes that there are some upgrades to the consistent financial reporting section... It now displays the correct year. Surely in order to complete your financial year you'd need this to display the correct year! My only query is that... Nobody else seems to have noticed this and there hasn't been any information/notices posted on SupportNet about it. So, if we need to upgrade in order to carry out the financial end of year routines, why is nobody being told about it? Or have some rather big bloomers become twisted somewhere along the way?
  3. My psn ID is Sarconia. I am on there almost daily hammering various different games. I've got too many to list (as I'm posting using my iPhone) but at the moment I am playing FFXIII.
  4. Hi All, I've been reading this forum for a good year or so now... and finally decided to sign up the other week. I mostly deal with MIS systems, however I do a lot of fiddling round with PC's for various people at home. I look forward to conversing with you all

I use MyLittleHelpdesk, it generally works quite well and is very cheap when compared to other packages.
  6. Cor, scrap that then... That is extremely poor customer service. I only suggested it because I used to use it occasionally on one of my previous jobs and never had any issues.
  7. Have you considered using Quick Books as well? I think it's cheaper than Sage...
  8. Buy a PS3! absolutely loads of games on PS3 out at the moment. As for Xbox games, what about BlazBlue? Being a fighter, it should have some pretty good multiplayer and it's pretty cheap on shopto.net as well.
  9. That's an odd error indeed, however I have seen it happen on a few rare occasions. Those types of errors generally occur in the Reporting Module and they roughly mean that there is an entry that already exists in the SQL table(s) somewhere which is conflicting with the new data that has been entered. (in your case a new behaviour type). The only people who would be able to fix this error and prevent it from happening again would be the devs at Capita! Unfortunately in regard to restoring the lost data, the only way would be to manually enter it all in again. If I were in this situation, I'd create an attendance report to detail all of the marks recorded on that day which were not present marks, I'd then use the enter a code over a date range routine to mark the whole school present and then use edit marks to fill in the other marks. As for other data such as behaviour & assessment, it's manual entry all the way.
  10. Profiles only works if you have a timetable set up for the classes, if there is no timetable for them then you won't be able to create a reporting session to pull them in. Also, on a side note, SIMS isn't supported on Win2k and the use of Office XP isn't supported either so if you have any problems with templates for example, you'd most likely get told to upgrade before anyone would even look at the problem.
  11. Yes, we have the demo running here. It does look very nice, everything is colour coded and divided into sections which actually would make sense to a parent. There aren't any confusing (to parents) assessment aspects floating around.
  12. Hello there, I've been a long time reader of this forum and after seeing this post - I couldn't resist any longer, I've got to chip in! You should be able to amend all of your students dates of admission, as long as your academic year(s) exist prior to when they were added in by the CTF. The biggest problem with this is that there is no bulk update feature to amend students dates of admission and that for however far you backdate the students entry into the school, you'll also have to add attendance data (apply a code over a date range is the quickest way to do that) and all other data. It's a massive task which will involve a lot of manual data entry as a CTF only contains basic student details, good luck!
