  1. Not all BIOS have compatability mode I have found.
  2. Is there a function in Gparted to write a master boot record? We had trouble the other week were a load of second users PCs we have, had been erased with Blanco which writes a hardware info screen to the MBR. Being SATA drives I couldnt just put a windows/dos disc in and do fdisk /mbr. I tried a knoppix cd but couldnt find the relevant command.
  3. ... Yes but that front screen doesnt actually tell you how many machines it has installed on. Even if the figure reads 200 it may mean its only installed on 1, but your not to know that until you start clicking away at reports. It would be better if it read Successfull Installation 150 Not applicable:50.
  4. Seriously is there anything more stupid that this column heading "Installed/not applicable" I mean which one is it! I authorised .Net 3 from the wsus console and sat back for a few days watching the percentage increase day by day. I was assuming that it meant it was installing as the percentage went up but no it was falling under the category of not applicable for some reason because when I went and checked some workstations it had not installed. Surely this should be 2 different columns?
  5. So your all after one of these?
  6. Install the software as normal. If you dont have a group for staff, make one. Alter the NTFS permissions on the software folder so only staff, system and admins can access it. You can alter the permissions through a GPO or some kind of startup script using Xcacls or something.
  7. You still have to use SRP for them. Just because you use file screening, it doesnt mean you cant use SRPs as well.
  8. That would work. A better approach for file servers is to use R2 as this is a little more intuitive for you and you can set it up to email you when a violation occurs.
  9. Looking good I am regretting not arranging to go this year now
  10. The S: Drive is there in My computer. It just ignores it until you click on it. It's not a profile problem as we have only just started mapping the S: drive on this domain. Everything works perfectly apart from that.
  11. Thank you for all the suggestions I will try them tomorrow.
  12. We map the usual S: drive for our SIMs. When a user launches SIMs they get the error as if the mapped drive doesnt exist. If you look in my computer it is there. If you open it up then just close it, SIMs will run I have tried using a vbs script and a batch file to map the drive, with and without the persistant switch. I am sure this is definately a windows issue and I just need to change the behaviour slightly through reg/GP
  13. They are probably U3 ones. Best thing to do is back up their data and run the U3 uninstaller from their website. Not an easy solution but the best one in the long run.
  14. Nagios seems to depend on IP addresses. Hostnames are there just for labels really.
  15. I wouldnt try mods at that will undoubtedly affect your support. You can request new things though. As for your users all going into default, you need to check they are definately a member of your included groups and that the correct mapping between your AD groups and filter groups is happening on the the next tab.
  16. I have been looking at this for a while. They would probably be alright for about 25% of the course content. After that it gets into dissasembly etc and thats enough to put most off. Best to steer then to a normal qualification first else they will end up with 50 gig plus of various Rainbow/Hash tables/wordlists on their hard drive like me
  17. Looking in the mirror again? Can you use something like a .pac file with your phone?
  18. Happy new year
  19. I just tried logging into SGD and I cant get to the log on screen. They must be doing some work as CLEO - Cumbria and Lancashire Education Online works. Doubt they expected anyone to be wanting certain services today. Moving to CLEO forum...
  20. Does using an SRP work on .swf ? I remember trying it with MP3s and even if you add it as an executable type it just ignored it unless its an exe, DLL, script etc.
  21. Merry Christmas! 30 mins left
  22. Thanks for that. just one thing to note though. The snapshot path in the ini is hard coded to one of your servers. Probably not something most people will use but may be worth changing.
  23. CLEO uses SGD and it seems quite good apart from the fact you dont get a log on box if you have old SSL certificates installed like in every XP install. No error either most annoying.
  24. Thats pretty much it . They should of really made it look like something else but they like to keep us on our toes . If you google it you will find plenty of code without a mention of expanding it.
  25. %comspec% is special it will work.
