I am like DHicks but my routines are in VBA and only I know how to use them as they are a little clunkey. I have programmed custom functions with usually take columns on another worksheet and one or two filters like FSM and Male or SEN and not gifted etc. I then populate the various tables with these functions. I have some nice short routines that will work out who has 5 or more A* to Cs and if that includes maths & english etc. The core is pretty flexible so if anyone has any particular requirement for a macro for excel then let me know and I will see what I can do.

I am wondering how much data allowance this kind of thing would use if you used it all the time....

There are many things to be wary of when thinking of being a network manager in schools these days BSF, equal pay reviews etc etc. While it may be good for experience there is beginning to be a very limited life span/acceptable wage on these jobs so it will end up being a high turnover role in schools.

Car insurance is ridiculous. My comparison was between bike and car insurance and it was a lot cheaper eg over £100 for me to get insured on a Honda Fireblade than it was my diesel car!

My interim solution would be to try and find the relevant registry keys that these settings correspond to and use a Startup/Log (Depending if they were user or machine settings) on script to merge them or at least experiment with them to see if you can get it to work that way.

IE Settings and folder redirection in the same policy has always been an issue. Make sure you take out all the IE settings under the GPO that contains the folder redirection stuff.

Do you not run some scripts from you netlogon/sysvol share? That way they replicate between DCs and you can refer to them in group policy as \\domain\netlogon\script.vbs. Which will be flexible for any DC.

Have you tried deleting their local profiles off the machines in question?

I assume there is some request to make this kind of thing a proper feature somewhere on support net? We shouldn't really have to be going to these lengths.

He probably wants to do the same as me and start fresh to gets rid of those little quirks that have shown up over the years and wont go away. I did a similar thing years ago when I ran an NT4 domain side by side with my 2003 domain until I was completely migrated. I just used a script to do all the permissions and as already stated you need a trust in place. How well trusts work between 2003 and 2008 I dont know but I can't imagine that much has changed.

Sounds like a lot of messing around especially if you have a variable amount of columns in your different marksheets, but I suppose once it's setup it's done and it is a way I never would have thought of doing it. I would be tempted to export them and run a macro over them that gave you a log of missing information.

I tried that code and it worked with a different path. Looks like you missed out a back slash to me as I doubt the exe is in the root of the Program Files folder. Should it be I still doubt that is right though there still seems to be something missing.

You will run into permission problems if you are trying to run it on logon/logoff. This is due to normal permissions set to folders eg the user they were created under. Use startup and shutdown instead and it will run as system.

It was a GPO setting in the end. Some setting in the OU that the servers were in was stopping NTLM happening. I have moved the server to a different OU and everything is fine .

My support has run out for now..... I have seen this before but I can't find it now Where about is it located? When I try and look at the log they dont seem to appear at all from the RDP session but appear fine on a normal session. I will have a look again tomorrow when my head is a little clearer.

I am glad to see I have stumped everyone as usual

Our Network Guardian is suddenly stopping everyone from accessing the internet through our terminal server. This is the error message: If you try on the computer itself then there isn't a problem and it went through first time. So I know it's nothing to do with the users group. The only thing that has changed recently on the terminal server is we swopped from per device to per user licencing as it's only the staff that use it all over. Any ideas tia Chris
