  1. Try connecting to your instance with normal management tools first to make sure your database server is running and you are putting the correct name in. You can also get firewall issues and you need to allow the exe rather than ports.
  2. In fact I just proved my point with that link, staff account goes through no issue test student account:
  3. We had similar issues a while back on our Netsweeper filtered connection, after some adjustments were made by our county behaviour on the staff policies, it hasn't been an issue again but I still see it on the pupils sometimes so I would say there is definitely some web filter interaction there.
  4. It was bad for a while but seems to be okay now, I am ready to spring into action next time with more testing.
  5. SDS is basically 3 files produced for teachers, classes and pupils it's not too bad to use but if you are being thrown in the deep end there are paid for options that aren't that expensive and come with support and synchronised class lists.
  6. I'm just wondering if any other the Lancashire schools are experiencing more issues with their pupils and teachers teams meetings held on the school connection? Obviously there is unprecedented demand on the Microsoft services currently but we have 50 pupils in school and they are constantly reporting issues with live lessons they are watching. I have previously told them this will be down to how busy the MS servers are and maybe the teachers connection etc but now when the staff are in and doing the lesson from within the building they are getting issues and the pupils at home are saying the lessons are unwatchable. Just putting the feelers out before I put a query in.
  7. Yes I usually give them one or two calls a year they are always very helpful.
  8. There is usually a client folder somewhere on the server share (might be called updates). You will need the serial number as well though.
  9. If white is common and you only have a "Normally Closed" connection then I would imagine that completing white to yellow would fire the bolt. Get a power supply from Science and use that to test, rather than testing through the controller if you are not confident.
  10. I am looking for some suppliers for storage hardware. Currently looking at HPE gear but I am open to other solutions. After an initial investigation I seem to be still on the old SAN and multi server cluster solution for our Hyper-V infrastructure which has worked great for us for a long time but I am open to more modern converged solutions etc. I have had a look at the windows inbuilt solution (storage spaces direct) but I am not to keen on the amount of hardware it takes for that to implement and in most cases seemingly loosing 50% of the storage for redundancy. I am already working with Millgate so I am just looking for some other recommended companies providing hardware solutions to education. Thanks, ChrisH
  11. Do you need to make it not highly available first?
  12. You need to do some nested loops: First loop would loop through each worksheet in the workbook. In that loop you would have another loop to loop through each dropdown box and get the value and reset if needed.
  13. I think my main issue was I already had a structure in-place and I think you may have to give consideration to the year group in use eg all the options were chosen for year 9x as that was the the one extracted from SIMS, then to go on to try and put it into blocks for year 10. This in theory should have worked for early timetable promotion in the last term but I couldn't get it to work. It maybe just needed a better reading of the manual!
  14. I used it last year, we only used it in school though and we didn't give out access to it. It was just used as an administrative tool but I probably wouldn't have any issue using it the way it was intended. The only issue I had last year is I couldn't get it to transfer into the curriculum blocks, when I was doing the timetable.
  15. Thanks, I will look out for this in the future then.
  16. That was the one! The ID was correct when I first set it up, under what situations will that ID change?
  17. I'm not having a good SIMS day Last year I created a powershell script to do some scheduled reports using command reporter, for processing external to SIMS. When I came back after Christmas I noticed even though the report was running every week day, there were no entries from January. I reopened the report and changed the saved value in the filter for the date range and it started running again. Today I have noticed no entries for February! As an experiment I tried setting the saved date in the report to Monday and sure enough on the next run I got all the entries, including todays! I am supplying the parameters to commandreporter as part of the command line and this seems to work fine. I didn't want to do it as a file as that adds more complexity to script and parsing xml. Here is the kind of filter I mean: Is there another way I should be doing this or is this a new bug?
  18. I can remove duplicates in Excel as I do lots of processing for all my reports in VBA but I was just looking to start as "clean" as possible. I'm surprised I haven't run into this issue before
  19. So no way round it? I will have to run each one separately?
  20. I am trying to extract a load of general information including comments from behaviour incidents, exclusions and Achievement/Behaviour. The only trouble I have now is that the output repeats the exclusions over and over eg there should be 6 unique entries but it keeps repeating them all the way down the page (outputting to excel). The other fields, including behaviour comments seem okay and unique. You only seem to get the "Include Records with No such..." and "display first record only" to use. Is there a particular combination of the other filters to get this to behave?
  21. I have read that boilers that support Opentherm will work better with the smart stuff as it gives it more control over the heating rather than all or nothing type scenario.
  22. Sorry I can't help with this but I am interested in an an answer as I am currently trying to install apps from the education store but keep getting the "Something Unexpected Happened". My next phase was SCCM but I can't even get the basics working so, free bump!
  23. You need to update to the very newest fileset 1006.
  24. Thanks everyone, it turned out they had consented to information sharing on their College enrolment form, I may look at getting something signed on our end for the future.
  25. Edited: So from a brief scan of that it looks like business as normal 18-19, and up to 25 in special cases such as statement/EHCP?
