The user logging on to SIMS needs timetabler permissions, and the correct permissions on the Nova-T folders, and the correct path set to the pulsar file, as @IRL referenced in the thread above.

You can probably donate them - there are many orgnisations that could use them. When our BSF build happened most of our whiteboards and projectors/speakers went to various ATC units - my techie then was involved with them and they eneded up all over the North West - even came and took them off the walls/ceilings for us when we were stripping the building. Advantage of an organisation like that taking them is they are people who have a technical bent and know about checking/testing and happy to fit/commission them so they are just grateful for working kit.

We have staggered starts and ends and staggered breaks, but we have used Nova for the emergency timetable. As long as the number of lessons is the same across the school, it should work, you just ignore the times. It does have the benefit of allowing lesson monitor to work properly and cover, if you use them, although our cover manager has to manually edit the times of the lessons depending on the year group.

Had to send 103 letters out today to parents they say are affected by this. Very unhappy that they have left the schools to communicate with parents and feel they should be contacting the parents direct. It also appears that they have not told some schools at all yet - another school in our MAT uses them and has had no communication with them at all.

Yup, just checked and our data uplink from SIMS this morning failed - the endpoint has timed out, so looks like everything public facing is offline.

I think thats correct - I would expect them to let us know if any of our parents accounts had been compromised and then we in turn would have to let the parents know. We cannot be the data controller for the credit card info and transactions as that data does not pass through our systems and we have literally "no control" over it. We will need to let all the parents know that there is a potential risk, but just debating here exactly how to phrase that - after all, there is nothing the parents can do about it at the moment as the site is offline.

Yep. we have had the same e-mail. Website has been offline since at least Monday - maybe sooner but we didn't notice over the weekend. No further info as yet. Not good - this is on top of an issue they had with their sync system at the start of the year that meant that new starter information could not be uploaded to them - it took over a week for all our Year 7's to appear.

Right. As you say, you immediately hit a snag with the CN being the "wrong" format and I doubt SIMS Exams Organiser could cope with this easily. You are probably better just doing everything using Edexcel Online and transferring the results into SIMS using a results marksheet at the end of the course, or even putting them in using EDIT PI.Whether thats reasosnable largely depends on the number of learners.

Go into Course Manager and see if they are listed as being a member of the relevant course and if they are remove them from there.

Its some years since I did this but my memory is that the way it works is that you work as a consortium - I have not come across this idea of sub-sites before. Is the sub-site a part of your organisation or a seperate centre in its own right. If its a seperate centre I asssume the following will apply: Consortium Guide

First step would be to run Run Update Course Memberships from Tools>Academic Manager>Course Manager Probably a rogue course end date.

@Boredguy - thank you. Used the win-acme tools you pointed me at and it verfied and produced the cert straight away,then just had to assign the new cert in Gateway Manager and everything works fine. I will look into the scripts for RDS to automate the process jsut in case I don't get the new setup sorted before the current cert expires as don't want that last manual step.

Does it occur on all workstations or just one, all users or jsut one ? If its a specific workstation easier to delete the sims .net folder and re-deploy it than figure out the specific problem. Is there a default windows printer set ?

Yep, remote.xxxxx.uk resolves correctly to our RDWeb interface, DNS appears correct. The public IP is NAT'ed through to the private IP of the server. I did have to do some powershell commands to set the domain name used by RDS to match, as the FQDN of the server is not remote.xxxxx.uk - we have a .local internal domain. Could this be the root cause ? There must be a lot of similar setups with RDS using Lets Encrypt but google is failing me at the moment....

I am running a 2012r2 RDS Gateway server for Remote Desktop and Web Access, all working fine but the wildcard cert I used has expired. Not going to buy a new one as the domain name needs changing anyway, so trying to get a LetsEncrypt cert using the Certify the Web tool. Have given the tool all the relevant info and it when I do a test request it passes the test, but an actual request fails, with the following error: http://remote.xxxxxxxxxxx.uk/.well-known/acme-challenge/vqNKZE7iV6R9TFJqMybWHES5HSKGiP9bWQEZGrs9vks: Timeout during connect (likely firewall problem) I can see the small challange file it places in the root of the website has been created, it just doesn't seem to be able to find it when it tries to verify the domain. I am not actually sure where this should go - it says in the website root - is this the default root for IIS, which would be in C:\inetpub\wwwroot, or in the root of the RDWeb site which is c:\windows\web\rdweb ? Instructions for Certify the web say that ports 80 and 443 need to be open, which they are, otherwise our Web Access would not have been working, so not sure it is a firewall problem. Any advice gratefully received. Should have sorted this sooner as I knew the cert expiry date, but too much other stuff going on.....

Got to be Edulink in terms of valuoe for money and the benefit it has brought to us - and very straightforward setup. Do agree about Salamander though, makes Google Classroom so easy to manage.

If there are a lot of changes the board may issue a new results file, in which case you can pull it down using A2C and import it in the normal way. Otherwise you can make manual changes by creating a results marksheet for the relevant subject. This will pull through the marks already in the system and allow you to edit them. We normally just create a results marksheet for the whole yeargroup for each subject so we can deal with results of appeals and re-marks as they come in. different this year of course, but the principle is the same. If you are using SIMS for data analysis you will also need to re-run the Edit PI routine after you have edited the grades.

Hmm. Normally SOLUS stuff is DNS related, but if that were the case I would expect it to see stuff in AD but not in Network. I assume SOLUS requires credentials to read AD, but I am not sure these are even visible on the UI - I can't find anywhere to set it so assume its part of the SOLUS setup routine - is it possible that these are no longer valid ?

There was an issue flagged up on the Capita support site about issues with the 1.2 version files not importing earlier this week. Advice seems to be to use the 1.1 versions which work OK. I had to do this on Monday and found the donwload links were unreliable on the DFE site and ended up using the link to download a zip of all the current files, which worked and gave me a set of files that imported OK.

Yes, the rooming in Nova is only really automated for teachers, so if the room is attached to the class the quickest way is as Nearthemark says. I have had to do this for our "bubble" timetable and found the easiest screen to do it from was the Year timetable - then jsut work through the classes right clicking to get the rooming option.

You can add additional supervisors at the Year or form level by right clicking the Supervisors icon at the relevant level. There are couple in there by default but you can add others using the Tools>Lookups>Maintain menu route and search for Supervisor Title. I don't think in practical terms there is any difference in what the different titles can do or see - it gives them the same access to marksheets etc as the HOY or Form Tutor depending at what level they are inserted.

We are not even going to try using the IT suites this term for returning pupils.It was recognised early on in the planning here that they are too big a source of potential infection and virtually impossible to sanitise. Lessons are in classrooms with Bubbles " of 10 students, Its been agreed, no laptops or anything in use, just the staff PC, and they have been given detailed instructions about cleaning between teachers - (teachers are moving to pupils) Three of our IT suites are in use by children of key workers and vulnerable kids who have been coming in every day, but they have their own machine that no-one else uses. Early next week I am going to round the staff work rooms and staff rooms and remove some of the machines in those spaces to enforce the social distancing rules, and staff are not allowed on site if they are not on the teaching rota, to minimise numbers using those areas. I must say our trust have been very good in producing detailed risk assessments and planning.
