  1. Standard way of doing this is to use the Alternative curriculum functionality, as you would for withdrawl groups. It needs some modification of the timetable though, so really needs to be done in conjnction with your timetabler.
  2. Probably not, but its what most schools do for their flight paths. I have always wondered about the justification for this, and as an ex-science teacher never thought it made much sense. A pupil target of a 7 at GCSE, well, they wouldn't get a 7 if they took the entire exam at the beginning of Year 10, but are they getting 7's on the work they are doing ? If so, surely they should be graded a 7 and that means for a lot of students, you would get a horizontal line that appears to show no progress but actually shows they are doing exactly what they should be. Just looking at this now on SISRA for our school and we have decided to go with horizontal lines - so if they are (in our case) Band 4 (which means they are likely to get a 7-9 GCSE). That is the baseline and all through KS3 the expected performance remains at 4, so a straight horizontal line on a flight path. When we do assessments, we are then looking at whether they are performing above at or below their band. Keeps it nice and simple.
  3. Yes, merging the result sets makes no sense unless the end of year targets are using separate aspects.
  4. You can merge result sets: Tools>Assessment>System Utilities>Results>Attach a result set to a Selection of Results So you could take the Year targets and attach them all to a larger results set.
  5. I think this will get rid of the registration period from the timetable but it will not stop the pm session mark from appearing in lesson monitor.
  6. I don't believe it is. The pm and am registration columns always appear even if they are populated from a lesson mark. They are distinct in the database as this is the "legal" register whereas lesson registers are really only for internal school use. I have not come across a way of hiding them.
  7. Exactly. We also do not import contact info, and have not for several years. We use data from the admissions form and every year a large proportion of info on the form is different from what is in the CTF. Primaries are generally very poor at keeping SIMS records up to date. Related example - end dates for FSM. the vast majority of students should not have an FSM end date but we get loads in our CTF's that have to be manually sorted out.
  8. Been using Edulink with SIMS here for three years. Excellent - easy to set up, staff and parents like it, very responsive support, relatively cheap transparent pricing. We had used Classcharts previously and have found Edulink much easier to work with. We use it with the gov.notify service to keep the costs of the texts down. Of course it can't get around the fundamental problems with SIMS, so we will be moving MIS next year and it will no longer be necessary, but if you are stuck with SIMS Edulink would be a must have I think.
  9. My understanding is that for humanitarian reasons you can assume they are eligible from day 1 on the grounds that they pretty much 99% will be but it will take some time for obvious reasons for the paperwork to be done to claim the required benefits formally. It seems that most authorities are taking this view and assuming a normal application still has to be made in due course. There does not appear to be any sort of blanket exemption or stated national policy on this though that I could find.
  10. Looks like they have sent or your EO has downloaded the wrong version. Provision of digital papers this year has been terrible from all the boards - some AQA ones have not appeared on the portal until after the scheduled start time, some only have certain versions of the paper - we got sent a listening test this morning from Pearson which was for extra time candidates, needed the normal one. Don't even get me started on their websites and upload portals - complete mess.
  11. If you are replacing the skirting with new you do not need to plaster or fill the wall behind it. You just need to fit wooden spacers onto the brick the thickness of the existing plaster and then fit skirting to them.
  12. There are three "Patches" required before the summer census can be done: 1. Consolidated Workstation Patch 2 for the SIMS Spring Release 2022 2. Fileset 2101 3. Consolidated Database Patch 1 for the SIMS Spring Release 2022 They need to be installed in the order shown above for everything to work correctly. I generally do not deploy every patch that appears in SOLUS unless it is directly relevant to an issue we have or is required for census. I just feel the thing is flaky enough, no need to install stuff that is not relevant.
  13. My understanding is that this is being actively worked on and may appear in the summer release. Colleague who works in a support unit has seen it.
  14. Yes, we are with RISO - we have 6 FW5230 MFD's and have had them for four years. They get hammered and have stood up very well. Engineer call outs have been few for machines that get such heavy use and engineers are fast and know their stuff when they do come. Have been very impressed with them. Note though they are not high quality - they are fast and functional but not designed for high end printing, so wouldn't replace a high spec machine in a reprographics office.

    Stone AIO PCs

Our experience is not recent but the AIO's we had from them several years ago are very good in terms of build quality and are still in regular use - or will be until July. Another school in our trust has more recent models and again has not had any issues - I have seen these and they seem to still be using the same basic chassis for their AIO builds, so would be quite happy to have new ones from them. With one or two duds as mentioned above, generally their build quality is pretty good.
  16. I don't think its a pilot so much as using live systems as beta testers - my understanding is that any primary can ask to start using the browser based bits, and then the additional functionality will just appear as it is developed. But basically they are really stuck. If they just started from scratch with a new cloud only code base it would take time before they could provide a working system - and they would still be way behind the other players and existing customers would not see any progress in the meantime. Doing it this way, they can demonstrate they are doing something, the trouble is, too little, too late. I can't see them having anything near the functionality that a secondary needs in any reasonable timescale, and that's not factoring in that competitors are all actively developing their products so they will always be playing catchup. I've been using SIMS since the mid-nineties and I remember the old DOS-based blue menus and updates coming on floppy discs, but we are changing this year, just going through an evaluation with Bromcom and Arbor and will decide before end of summer term. Enough is enough.
  17. It is real and it is functioning - I saw it in use last week. I understand its working in a small number of primaries at the moment. Their approach is to take small slices of functionality and produce browser based versions, so over time more functions will be available in the browser. This is a hybrid system - it uses a cloud based database and the on site one which sync together and it doesn't remove any functionality from SIMS 7. Logically, its probably the only way they could do it, but personally, I think it will take too long and they will bleed too many customers away before its made significant progress. And this isn't a re-work of SIMS Primary - they have thrown that away and started again.
  18. Ours use an account which is a local admin on the SIMS server only. They also know the credentials for the service account which is used by SOLUS to push out installs, but that account is denied interactive logons. they do have a SIMS admin account for actually logging into SIMS of course.
  19. Hmm. The one thing about SCCM, or whatever its called this week, is it logs everything. Probably need to go burrowing and find out what its actually doing or not doing - C:\Program Files\Microsoft Configuration Manager\Logs is the usual location although YMMV. Useful lsit of the log files and what they record here: https://www.prajwal.org/sccm-software-updates-log-files/
  20. Where are you specifying the classifications and products ? From memory, it needs to be done in the Software Update Point Component Properties as well as in any Automated Deployment rules. If the software Update point is not configured to check for Server updates it will not pull any down, even if the Deployment rules specify them.
  21. https://www.overnetdata.com/edulink-one/ I think it does all that classcharts does and a fair bit more. Writeback has always been reliable. Pulls users from AD, so you if your long term supply have a login they can use it, we have a generic supply login which is also a user - but they can't use the communications features.
  22. Yes, it was something to do with it being an admin account. They didn't resolve it and as we moved to Edulink not long after we did not need to pursue it. Their support was not very good as I recall.
  23. I think this is a long-standing issue. We have not used it for over two years but when we were a large number of Acievement and Behaviour points were attributed to me even though I had no classes asssigned and don't appear on the timetable. We raised it with their support but they didn't resolve it. Caused a lot of issues for our pastoral team.
  24. We too use it with Edulink One. Integration is very easy, took about 20 minutes, just ask them for the instructions.
  25. We have six Comcolor FW5230 machines around the school and we use them for everything that does not need to be decent quality. They are ink jet tech and they get hammered, but generally very robust, and they are fast. Some engineer call-outs but no more than any other type and they are usually here same day or first thing the next morning. Cost per page is cheaper than conventional but you have to accept that you need another solution for high quality stuff. Our staff have no complaints about that, they know to use repro dept for the good stuff but that they can quickly print 30 copies of something in next to no time on the RISO's.
