Who hosts your school sch.uk domain?
36Degrees replied to Lolus's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We moved ours to TSO Host when the LEA stopped managing them and they allowed us to do it for free. -
How are your POs raised? We went through all our budgets last year and the print outs from PSF were a massive help as you can see what came out of which budget e.g. Software, Communications, Development

Pretty much the same for me - opticians (every 2 years) and dentist (every 6 months). I'm not sure I would even think about going to Wilkos anymore - if it isn't in either of the 2 B&Ms we have, Home Bargains or The Range I'd probably resort to Amazon or eBay. Our town has been dying by a "death of a thousand cuts" for quite some time, aided and abetted by our local councils, but it's now accelerating. Both Barclays and TSB closed recently leaving 2 large buildings empty that have been banks as far back as I can remember.

Contact them directly, especially if you're buying in quantity as the price on the website won't be the price you pay. IME with companies we have asked to quote we have paid less for a PC with a 5 year warranty from them than others have quoted us for for 1 year or 3 year.

We buy refurbs from Pure IT Refurbished. https://www.pureitrefurbished.co.uk/ Used them for several years and on the rare occasion there is anything wrong they resolve it very quickly

I'd speak to your Exams Manager and get them to email JCQ. That way everyone is covered.

Going by the pictures I assume that gets both hot and cold water from internal plumbing? I've done ours twice but it is an electric shower so I only needed to worry about isolating the cold water when I swapped it which made the task that much easier. Main issues will be location of inputs on the new shower - I bought one with multiple options and the second time bought the equivalent new model so the backplate was also the same. Only other things I can think is make sure the electrical connections are as tight as possible (if it was an electric shower you need to ensure what KW rating your cabling is)

Motion Detection in Dahua NVR not showing in Playback
36Degrees replied to CalmBlueOcean's topic in Physical Security
We have this all the time as they seem to be quite sensitive with motion detection. -
Me neither. Assuming you're on NET2 I think you should be able to upgrade at no cost. We were looking at purchasing NET2 Pro but discovered we already had it so should just be able to install the new version and then import the database.

I think it depends on how much driving you do and the nature of the roads. OH does about 3K miles per annum just going backwards and forwards to work. She bought mid-range (Davanti) and has been very happy with them. I do about 17K pa so always buy premium. Currently I fit Goodyear as they have the best combination of price, fuel economy, wet weather performance and noise. The one thing I have to be aware of is that there are a special 'Mercedes fit' that have worse ratings. Speak to your local tyre place, assuming you trust them, they will tell you the pros and cons as even premium tyres can be softer. For example, I had a fairly rare car many years ago that used to have Yokohamas on. They were cheaper than the only other premium tyre available but were softer so wore a bit quicker. I decided the price difference versus wear made them the better option particularly as that meant better grip and my commute was along country roads including the early hours.

Smoothwall blocking O365 on our Guest Wifi
36Degrees replied to kennysarmy's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I've used HTTPWatch (on PC in Chrome) before to diagnose issues i.e. unblocked domain in Smoothwall but some element of page is from a completely different, blocked domain. -
Would you like the joystick connecting or the extra 16K RAM? (Remember you can't have both!)

Any particular area? I used to make aircraft as a teenager and had some very unusual and large kits hanging from my ceiling, including an SR-71 and a very large Tornado GR1 (1:32 scale!). I still have the Tornado F3 and an A-10A Thunderbolt in a box somewhere. I have my dad's old train set in the loft (Hornby Dublo 3 rail) which I added to quite a bit many years ago. (Biggest regret is not buying an almost immaculate Mallard when I was 18. The model shop owner would have let me pay in installments but it was still £100, a lot of money at the time.) Would very much like to have the space just to get some of it out. I use my camera quite a lot and would love to get past the auto stage but time seems to have been the main factor in not learning for the past couple of years unfortunately. I bought myself a very good macro lens last year (very good Amazon deal including pay interest free in 5 instalments!) but so far have used it twice I think! I love watching \ photographing the birds in the garden. Whenever we go anywhere my wife takes her binoculars and I take my camera and my binoculars! Other than that, big rugby union fan although I much prefer going to a club game than an England international. In my opinion there is a much better atmosphere with spectators actually wanting to watch the game, not see how much alcohol they can consume or just being able to brag that they have been

Cost of living crisis 2022 - what have you cut back on?
36Degrees replied to Ditto's topic in General Chat
If you know anyone with a Blue Light card, Asda have re-introduced their 10% discount - I believe until October. Not sure if it's only instore, and last time alcohol wasn't included, but worth it just the same. Card holder must be present instore and have supplementary identification. -
Can you log on locally to check the link speed? We had a similar issue where the connection was only 10MB rather than 1GB due to modules in the face plate being damaged but not obviously so

Thanks. We go to Norfolk quite a lot but usually Great Yarmouth to Wells area - looks like we need to visit Hunstanton!

Smoothwall filtering issue
36Degrees replied to chekmate1984's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
I assume you have set the default gateway in DHCP to point to the IP address of your Smoothwall rather than the IP address of your router? -
We use Connaught who are based in Sutton Coldfield https://www.connaughtltd.co.uk/

We've used it twice now and the feedback from teachers has been very positive, particularly as the sessions can't overrun. The first time there were only a handful of staff onsite but last night there were 27 using it here. As others have said, a few tweaks to the firewall \ content filtering was required and I would definitely recommend running tests \ training with staff that are also parents. The main issue we found was if staff had Zoom open or various makes of visualisers connected as this stopped the Parents Evening System using the webcam.

I haven't tried the external link yet as now I've added the gateway I'm not sure if I need to link the public IP to the gateway or the Web Access server. Certs aren't a problem, I have that aspect in hand.
