also worth considering doing an mcsa then looking at cisco's ccent before you do the mcse, The extra modules that take you from an mcsa to an mcse are nice but not really all taht relevant day to day in a school.

Aim for MCSA first, its the more relevant half of the MCSE. There are 4 exams for this, each one a qualifcation in its own right, each exam costs £80 and can be studied for using the ms press book and possibly other self learning material such as testout or cbtnuggets.

I dont disagree that the seller has responsibilty but if the machine isout of warranty thats not the sellers fault, esp if it was knowingly sold with a 1 year warranty.

in ranger administrator you will need to expand the first tree (name escapes me), it should give you the option on one of the tabs there. Nope, no patches, trusty wsus is your friend with ranger.

are you using roaming profiles?

ranger makes the settings in the registry, Ideally you should jsut rebuild the machine as vanilla as the settings remain after ranger has gone. You can try deleting the local profiles to see if that makes a difference.

give up on laptops and use thin clients with decent desks so they computer can be hidden away. much cheaper over 5 years.

then i dont think you can route the traffic, the cat5 is simply a smarter way of connecting the machines than co axial for instance. But please do double check, the sales patter on the website isn't all that clear!.

there are 2 ways of doing this, one just sends video signal over cat5, this sends a pure signal down the wire, the other way is to use tcp/ip which is routeable.do you have a digitalsignage solution in place or would thisbe the first foray?

probably find the "lessons" are with 200 other people crammed into a hall, she'd do better to get 2 decent batteries, possibly a car charger and learn the little tricks like turning the wireless off, screen brightness etc etc. the original asus minibooks can have long life batteries sourced cheaply from ebay for taking notes, carrying work etc etc during lectures, not ideal as the sole machine though.

log off, log on as local admin, then try again.

you can use msba to check who is in the admin group to double check your work.
