Current forum silliness, an end
markwatkins replied to Dos_Box's topic in General EduGeek News/Announcements
I totally agree with these sentiments, "Now I don't usually enter in to these threads as I usually have better things to do but I for one must say that I am quite happy with EduGeek and if they do some money making initiatives to keep it going and thrive" I am slighlty surprised that there are a few people who are getting so upset over the point of this thread. I suppose if you don't like it don't join is the answer. To Dos et al thank you making this resource available. -

Public sector employees to get ripped off, again
markwatkins replied to localzuk's topic in General Chat
With the UKs yob culture and anti social behaviour itt wont take to long for it to get worse. I am a bit sad that there is a perception that we have a yob culture in the UK, I am even more sad that RoF has bought into the way the media portray people/situations. The media prtrayal of USA is none too good it has to be said. -
as you may remember we had this problem with a 2015... have tried the baking method with a degree of success .... seem al dente is best .... we used 180c for 10 mins and it now works 50% of the time... so back to the kitchen!!

Theres more!! As has been said this is a fault known to HP it is the formatter board. Another company has offered to help us:- Thanks to James Dos_Box

I don't like the idea of naming the company but their attitude is not good. Court is the obvious next part of this and once Hants legal guys have confirmed we have a case I am sure we will follow it through. As someone has said to buy a printer albeit and inexpensive one and 14 months later having to either pay for a repair or to replace it frankly sucks. I wonder who else has experienced something of this nature?
-
I am sure that you will all like to no that I have just received a call from the company, which is stating that the printer was fit for purpose and is now out of warranty and our problem. They stated repeatedly that Sale of Goods Act does not apply, ignored my observation regarding the Unfair Contract Act and the fact that EU law is dominant. So we have a printer that is faulty a supplier who refuses to acknowledge their responsibility . Any ideas???
-
Firstly can I thank everyone who has contributed to this thread. If we are not a consumer then this is the law that applies-: I am interested that some of the sponsors/advertisers are joining in now. As far as I have been able to ascertain the EU law is the diminant one and it is unreasonable to say that a printers life is 14 months. I am still waiting for a resolution and am in dialogue with the seller but so far without success.

I am keeping my cards close to my chest.... Edugod knows who they are and obviously the company and for the moment that is the way it will stay.
-
It has the paper jam light on permanently and when connected via USB the error message says "USB device not recognised".... since my last post the supplier has PMed me however I am still waiting for a positive response.
-
It seems to me that the law is , as ever, pretty ambivalent. However we are consumers without a doubt. To be fair the company have spoken to me on the phone and are not very impressed by my reasoning, but have not responded either to this post or to a pm I sent.

This printer has been in a deputy heads office from new. Not abused by being generally available... I would say how many prints it has done ....but it isn't working

We purchased, from an advertiser on Edugeek, some HP2015s July 08. One of which is faulty. HP say we are out of warranty, however we discover the sale of goods act states that it is not the manufacturer but the seller who is responsible. Guess what the seller disagrees!! I will copy this to the advertiser but will not atm identify them.
