Hi, Recently made a change on my backup process, i say recently, it was a while ago now. Cant remember what i changed off top of my head. lol. Anyways. The thing being am not sure about this output from the backup(see image) The main thing being that the system state and bare metal says completed, but has no data transferred. I cannot remember, if previous to any changes, it gave a similar output, or whether it showed some data transfer for these 2 items. I wondered if anyone has output from their backups that would shed light on what it should show and put my mind at rest, or not, as the case may be. Hi. How do people go about buying their content for ipads and the like? Seems we are gonna have problems with no way to use our purchase order system to get this electronic content. Hello I am trying to get the joomla EG package running, but keep getting lots of issues. First issue was patTemplate.php error which i seemed to resolve by downgrading php to 5.2.9-2 But then i get an error where the admin password does not work. I then start to get a 404 - An error has occurred. Component Not Found Anyone know if there is a specific setup guide that differs from Joomla normal setup? I am not sure why i have these issues. Hi It appears that netlogon drive is being mapped to N: on the win7 machines we have. I have not setup this map in any logon script and wondered why windows would map it as a network drive. The N: drive. Seems strange and I dont really want people having the netlogon drive so easily viewable with all its contents, even if its read-only. Anyone come accross this? Thanks a lot

hello, When i use 2003 server as print server i can access the print shares from any pc, whether a domain member or not. I usually navigate to the \\server and then authenticate using domain credentials. But when trying to access printers on a 2008 server, i can see all the file shares but the printer section does not display any printers, although it does to other PCs that are joined to the domain. I checked the security on printers and its set to Everyone can print. Anyone know about this? Thanks.

The linux box has never had DNS running as a service, neither has it had dhcp.

Hello, Am having problem with mixed environment, a DC running 2003 std and one running 2008 r2 The error seemed to occur when i was trying to run ad authentication from a linux box using kerberos. I managed to solve problem once, or so i thought by resetting pasward with netdom. The a day later i ran authentication on linux(not knowing that was the cause) and all the UNC shares stopped working. DNS seems to be mucked up. how can i diagnose and fix my network please i am up the creek here thanks

Thanks. I had tried this also. It is very strange. I dont trust this NIC after prbs i have been having. I am meant to have two NICS,but hardware only shows 1, and this one seems to re number itself each time i reboot, and when i go to properties i have the issue taht i mentioned earlier

Phew. Its resolved. Well its running and people are able to get the UNC shares and DNS is reainstalled on the offending DC. The solution was to reset the kerberos passwords for the domain controller. I saw a post regarding this and thought it looked relevant. I ended up running netdom resetpwd on both dcs, as the problamatic one didint seem to show any improvement after running it.

server 2003 static ip address says acquiring network address continually. I get a message when i try to set ip address: The IP address you have entered for this network adapter is already assigned to x.x.x.x another adapter Name of adapter. Name of adapter is hidden from the network and Dial-up Connections folder because it is not physically etc But i cannot see anyother adapters. I did the set devmgr_show_ thing, and removed nic but still not working Anyone know how i can delete this on board nic and start again Thanks

I ran the updates but the problem persists.

The DNS server was unable to connect to the domain naming FSMO ourdc.domain.co.uk. No modifications to Directory Partitions are possible until the FSMO server is available for LDAP connections. The event data contains the error code event id: 4510 seems like its something to do with AD maybe?? I can authenticate, AD looks ok.

Ok makes sense. I am in North England and having a bad day. I have Server 2008 on other server have since installed dns on this server but not really made much diff yet. I have got a record for my pc in the dns forward zone on the dns server i just created, but still cannot connect to the shared drives using netbios name, ip address works fine. i am going to run updates on 2003 server asap thanks

Tried to uninstall and reinstall DNS. It completed but then i got a Cannot contact the DNS server message. Am a bit stuck here. Help please anyone. Thanks

hello, My DNS zones are missing. I get an error in event log: The DNS server was unable to open Active Directory I read one post that mentioned the security log being full, i tried to increase the size of the file allowed and delete the log. This has not worked. If this is indeed the problem. Anyone any ideas? Bit of a panic as non of users can access their files through mapped drives. Thanks

Hi One more afterthought... I seem to have problems with none of the users being able to access their My Documents at the moment, on the network. Could this be related to the hacking around with linux and samba i have been doing? Just rebooting the DC with my fingers crossed. :-S
