Hi I wondered if anyone has recommendations on an entry level server with a tape drive bundle. It would be used as a DC for about 240 machines. Thanks

Yes I had an excruciating wait to try out the solution myself -

I am guessing that a reboot remedied my issue. Its just I cannot remember any other solution that I pondered over but I do remember panicking like heck when I came across the issue. I think it would have stuck in my mind more if I found some detailed solution. I have looked through the Event Viewer and it mentions several "The WinRM service is not listening for WS-Management requests. " Event ID 10149 around the time of the issue. Although I do not always understand the behemoth that is windows server 2008 OS and its intricacies, so maybe take my ideas around the services with a pinch of salt. It should be possible to manage the services remotely and see if that service is running. I do think rebooting the server solved my problem. -

I got it working again, and wish now I had posted a follow up because I am trying to remember what I did. I know I went through some reboot process first. Let me get back to you see if I can recall what went on -
Its purpose would be as a backup dc. Would it be preferable to make it Read Only DC or is it better to have it writable? Thanks

Hi Is there a nice guide to setting up a second domain controller that anyone uses? Thanks

And looking at that other link you sent. Micro Metal Gearmotor - Pimoroni That gives Ratios and rpm so it looks like it could be 180:1 That aside do you use a L293D in your circuit? :-)
-
I am reading it from cpc catalogue it does say 180:1 probably a typo as most of the others are 48:1 but I have seen these Battery Operated Gearbox - BO Series - VIGOR PRECISION LTD|???????? Which has 180:1 ratio option So there is a chance the catalogue is correct
-
This cpc one is 180:1 Just no wheels ha ha.
-
Oh it mentions 'our wheels' on the link you sent!
-
I think I can get these at cpc. Do these look the same: MC018-1A - MULTICOMP - MOTOR, 3-12VDC | CPC I just need to locate wheels. Do Lego wheels fit? What do you use for a chassis ? I had been using Lego gears with a cheap motor, but its just not very good. Mainly because of the inability to properly seat the motors on something. It takes a lot of messing and time is something I never seem to have a lot of. Thanks
-
Hi I wondered what peoples experiences with using motors in projects has been. Mainly my issues are ease of use and cost. I really like the lego motors but they are more expensive, but they are easier to build as I don't need glue guns or other things. At school we have a shed load of cheap motors that sit in a little plastic housing with a sticky pull off base. These are cheap and cheerful but not ideal if I want to add them to a lego setup for gears etc. They do have a nice little push on toothed wheel that seems to fit ok with lego stuff, but not perfect, and without decent attachment to other lego parts a bit of a pain. I wonder what people use in regards to motor projects? Thanks

For me the example works in 3.3 shell, but I get that error in the 2.7 shell. Must be running 2.7 as default shell. I think I had to run python in the shell using the line python3 on raspberrypi Linux if I remember, wonder if its same on mac? If I just invoked it with python I would end up in 2.7 shell

I wondered how you dealt with automated system recovery floppy disks as VMware and hyperv use different floppy formats? Cheers -

This sounds promising. Did you backup to local drive and move the backup file, then create a new server and restore? -

hi I have tried various conversion tools. Cannot remember which off top of my head, I will look again tomorrow. I don't think disk2vhd was one of them though. Thanks -
Hi I am trying to move a virtual server, MS Server 2003, running under VMware. I originally tried to dd the image using clonezilla to get it working with hyperv but started getting blue screen. I thought it might be better to use WDS, but am having the same blue screen after deploying the image in hyperv I wondered if anyone knew the best way to go with moving this VMware image to hyperv Thanks

getting somewhere now. had an issue with WDS
