  1. I downloaded ftp with apt-get and i can connect to the ftp server from the wyse client anonymously, so am really unsure as to why its not pulling down any settings from the wlx.ini
  2. I have setup an ftp server, I have tried to test this connection is available to the T50 by adding info to a file called wlx.ini that sits in a directory like this: \inetpub\ftproot\wyse\wlx it seems as if the information/settings are never being accessed. DefaultBrowser = no FormURL = mypic.png AutoLogin=yes Not sure how i can test this ftp setup is working correctly any ideas? Thanks
  3. Hi Has anyone had to suffer the Wyse T50? I just wondered if anyone could offer any help. Thanks
  4. Hi Trying to get username.ini file to work for this wyse t50 thinclient. I have setup mime types, I am trying to enter detail manually as stated in guide: The reason I am not entering the 161 and 162 tags is that I dont want to have these options for all my dhcp clients. While trying the manual setup I find that the path is incorrect anyway This seems incorrect. I think it is meant to be: system settings->ini settings. Anyway this is not working, I cannot log on as user that i created as testuser.ini, in the directory structure C:\inetpub\wwwroot\wyse\wlx\ini it says authentication failed Anyone help with this Wyse t50 setup? Thanks
  5. Hi I am after some free webcam software Anyone use any thats decent? Thanks
  6. Hiya Any major advantages of having Hyper-v as standalone as oppose to having it run as a role in server 2008? Thanks
  7. lol I have hit my quota for the year and its only spring!
  8. Hi Is it possible to run vdi-in-a-box side by side with RDP. i.e. if i had an RDP setup and was to install vdi-in-a-box on the same server, would i still be able to use standard RDP setup or would it be superseded and would I then be forced to just use vdi in box? I am asking cause am considering using a product that has no support for vdi-in-a-box, and would like to know if it would become defunkt hardware if I was later to use vdi-in-a-box. Thanks

    New server

Ok apologies for yet another thread, but I seem to have lost my train of thought on the last one or the subject has changed slightly as they do, started about server recommendations and ended up being about 8bit registers, instructions and operands then went on to talk about quantum parallel universes. Only kidding. I am about to buy server, either DL385 or DL165 G7's So either 3xx series or 1xx My requirements are nothing major 10-15 thinclients at mo. Probably RDP. Maybe some virtulisation in future. I have about 3K Do i get 1xxx servies and add another CPU and more ram or is it better to have a 3xx series with more ram
  10. Another thing is it better to push boat out and get Dl385 HP DL385 / G7 / Dual Processor (AMD) / Top Value / Rack Server (470065-366) - www.misco.co.uk
  11. I wouldnt run it on our DC, but i would be using that as an RDP server, and i would possibly have a virtulised BDC running on hyper-v if it runs like virtual box /vmware server. Stuff like that
  12. The thing being, I want to get a server bought.... its like Brwsters Millions here today! I feel if I dont buy somamt the money will be lots forever. I feel like Richard Pryor! If I price up the server for VDI its a completly different spec to one that will just be RDP capable. So am looking at that same DL165, but a spec for running VDI and a spec for just running RDP. 10 clients either way Then I could have an idea of which way to go. Currently I dont know how much RAM HDD or CPU cores for RDP, but I do know I need maybe 16 cores for VDI, with possibility of additions laters, but not too sure on RAM or HDD for vdi.
  13. Is it better to have it as a role in a standard server setup then you have the other tools a server has?
  14. Hi I neglected this question. Bit busy. I was originally looking at the DL165, the models I see have different CPUs one is 6128 other 6128HE other 6136 Anyway looking at VDI in box I have to get lots more RAM and poss another CPU. If I was to just use RDP how much RAM and CPU power would I be looking at for 10 thinclients? Thanks
  15. Hiya, Not sure how this hyper-v works. Does this make my machine act like I have installed something like vmware server on it? i.e. I could then have virtual machines running on it, but without needing software like vmware server or virtual box, and not having to virtulise the entire server like I would with esxi? Thanks
  16. Yes this would be great. More info please. Silverdale looks like a beautiful part of the US
  17. Hi Whats the windows system image manager used for? Is it used in conjunction with DISM? Am new to sysprepping on Win 7 and building Windows images Thanks
  18. Hiya Anyone know how to rebuild the MBR so that the F4 key will boot into the recovery partition? Am still unable to do this. Only think I can think of is to image the drive from another maybe? Thanks.
  19. I made the volume active but still no joy
  20. gparted gives a series of flags, the current one selected is DIAG’ (MS-DOS) - Enable this to indicate that a partition can be used as a diagnostics / recovery partition. Nothing for making it active that I can see. Wondering if i can do this with diskpart, will have a go Thanks
  21. Hi I have a netbook that had a F4 recovery partition on it, which since i installed grub amongst other things, I have not been able to access since with the F4 key. Although I get the option to recover the F4 key doesnt take me to the recovery partition. The partition seems to be there looking through Gparted but its just not functioning. I am thinking its the MBR that needs rewriting?? Anyone any ideas? Ta
  22. Hiya I have never quite got over (emotionally ) my last issue I had with a BDC I installed that basically knackered everything up on the PDC through some bizarre authentication issue I never got to the bottom of, hence i am still re-living it (maybe therapy needed), and I was lucky to grab the roles with the BDC and avoid extra pain. It was a mixed environment with 2003 and 2008 and then I was trying to authenticate with squid on a linux box using kerberos and things started to break! Anyway... I have always since been reluctant to introduce a secondary domain controller to the network, although I feel that for redundancy purposes i should have one so all the AD data is replicated in case one scrws up. So I have never got round to it. I was wondering whether a virtualised secondary domain controller is a good idea or a physical one? Thanks
  23. Sounds good. Do i just copy these files into my REMINST image folder wihtin another folder, or do I need to import them through 'add image' on WDS server? Ta
  24. Hi Trying to install a clean install of Win7, cannot run the disk through setup in the OS as different architectures, so i must run a clean install from the disk. as i am using a netbook without a cd rom i would like to be able to run this setup from a pxe boot. I already have an environment in place, WDS etc, so is it possible to get this to work? Thanks
  25. Hi Am wondering if it is ill advised to run a 64bit Win7 OS on a NC110 Samsung NC110-A03UK Netbook PC The Intel Atom N570 1.66GHz is 64bit I was thinking that a 64bit chip would run a 64bit OS without any problems, but I am unsure about this? Is the 64bit OS 'heavier' on the hardware than 32bit OS? The Netbooks have preinstalled Starter edition which is 32bit Thanks
