Couple of runs this week.....5km on Tuesday with Poynton Runners, well 5.2km with an average pace of 5:19/km, then out for 10km on my own last night 5:50/km, felt hard work last night, but was only just a worse pace than the previous Friday where I felt really good. Big run this weekend, planning to do the longest run I'll do for this half marathon training.....20km is the aim, but anywhere between 18-20km will be enough to get me round the half marathon in two weeks (I think).

Managed to get out on Friday night for a fairly swift 10k (roughly 56:30). Not a million miles away from my pb time (54:50) so fitness is definitely going in the right direction. Struggling a bit for motivation though with running in general. Got just under 3 weeks until the half marathon and although I've run 18km about 2 weeks ago, I'm not feeling particularly confident. Need a good last couple of weeks training with a big run this Sunday I think, if I'm going to achieve anything at the half marathon.

Same for us, we bought into it for a couple of subjects last academic year and I think we now have it for all subjects (I don't exactly know as we had no involvement in the procurement and only found out we had it when it had a problem). Uptake seems good though, departments using it in class and also for homework. I've seen my two step children using it at home as well.

I can see why that might not appeal then :-) Another, if you just want wanton destruction is Battle Royale. Similar in plot to the Hunger Games, but insanely brutal.

Couple I've seen recently. I watched Deadpool last week, and found it hilarious (could easily just be my sense of humour though), so watched it again at the weekend. I then took the kids to see the Lego Batman film yesterday which I also thoroughly enjoyed. I love the attention to detail in the film and the really small references that make the film great for an adult. Bruce Wayne's limo having the reg plate "Wayne Car" for example and the flight in the opening scene with the flight number of "1138" which I can't imagine is by accident.

I used to be quite into Horror and always thought the Japanese did it best.... If you haven't already, take a look at the original Ring Trilogy (not the american remakes) and a film called Audition (the scene with the cheese wire is excruciating)

We've been experiencing something similar....we logged it directly with them and had this email in response... Thank you for that, i'll give that a whirl as well as the other suggestions. Do you know what is the cause of the issue and why renaming the repository folder may resolve the issue? - - - Updated - - - Reimaging is an option.....but it's affecting too many machines for it to be viable as a whole school solution.

Verbose messaging is on but the message we get is simply "Applying Settings" :-(

We've got one particular PC with the issue and it is definitely being shut down correctly. Just out of interest, what would the implications be if it wasn't being shutdown correctly?

Morning all, In the last week or so we seem to have developed a strange issue with our Windows 7 PC's. Turn the PC on, it goes through the various BIOS screens as usual but once it starts going through the various processes before it gets to a logon screen, it sits on "Applying Settings" for up to 90 minutes. There doesn't seem to be any pattern to it, it is affecting random PC's all over the place and can happen multiple times. We don't believe anything has changed centrally (other than we had an Impero issue last week which was fixed by detaching the logs and reattaching them) and initially thought it was a Windows update but don't think it is any more. Anyone had anything similar? Any pointers as to where to look? We've checked the event logs but there is nothing standing out as being a problem. Thanks in advance Iain

I watched "Now You See Me 2" last night. Really enjoyed the first one, wasn't quite as impressed with the second. It felt like it was trying to be too complicated/clever in order to out do the first one.

Slow plod out last night with the Poynton Runners....8km at a pace of around 6:06 per km. Couple of longer runs again this week to come, 10km on Thursday and then 20km on Saturday/Sunday...gulp

Two runs over the weekend, a nice pacey 10km on Friday at 5:51 per km, but that is slightly wrong in that I walk the first 500m of the run so my first 1km is timed at 7:24. All others are in and around the 5:30-5:40 region and even managed a sub 5:30 for the last km. Then my biggest training run of the year on Sunday which was 17km (approximately 10.5 miles), good steady pace at 5:55 per km (again with the walk at the beginning) which if continued at that pace should get me around a 2 hours 4 minutes half marathon time, which is better than last year, and definitely on track for a sub 2 hours when I actually do the half marathon in 6 weeks time.

Bizarrely ours don't complain (nor do the teachers on their behalf either)....I have no idea what they do to not fill 150mb. I think our biggest student home drive is 400mb. When our Head of Computing started he asked for student areas to be increased to 20Gb (there was no justification as to why they needed the space)...once we stopped laughing, I told him how much space we give them and that we could expand it if required. It's rare he asks us to add more space though.

Wow, I think we're a bit stingy with what we give our staff and students. Students get 150mb when they come in Y7 and this gets increased if they need it (but this only tends to be if they do product design or computing GCSE). Staff get 5gb which is then increased if required.

Nice drizzly but mild night for running last night :-) Out with the Poynton Runners for 5km but ran down to the meeting point to top it up to a nice 7km total. Pace around 6 minutes per km with a couple of faster ones in there as well.

I'm glad you've posted on here, as I couldn't remember your name :-) It was nice to meet you as well :-) I'm with you though, I actually prefer cold/dark/wet conditions over the heat of summer (mainly as summer is hayfever and asthma season) :-)

Another for SCCM here, works ok for us (I think I still prefer MDT/WDS) although it does seem to struggle with our current mixture of 64 bit & 32 bit operating systems :-( Hopefully going full 64bit this Summer though so that will remove the issue.

I must have gone to Edugeek too late for a mug :-( it was nice to meet @elsiegee40 (and a lady in an RM top whose name I didn't catch) and partake in eduhobnobs though :-)

Hi all, I'm hoping someone may be able to help me. I'm just starting to take a few tentative steps into data alongside my role as deputy network manager. I've been asked to look at the L3VA ready reckoner to try and get my head round it. However, from what I can see, the version of the ready reckoner doesn't seem to be the right version. Can anyone point me in the right direction of the latest version of the ready reckoner? Thanks in advance Iain

Couple of runs over the weekend, 8km on Friday (pace 5.36 per km) and then 16.1km on Sunday (pace 5.56 per km) very please with both runs. Friday was a much quicker pace than I normally run at, the pace is slightly skewed as I had to cross two roads at points which brought 2 of the kilometres down to around 6 minutes the rest were all around the 5.30 mark. Sunday was the longest run I've done in this half marathon training session, felt good, pleased to have kept the same pace for most of the run and was comfortable enough to have felt that I could have gone a bit further :-) Forgot to add....Sunday's run, I spent about half an hour running through sleet/snow!!
