Sorry to resurrect an old thread but we are also after an alternative to the Adobe/Macromedia suite. We currently use Macromedia Studio 8 which causes us problems in a Windows 7 environment with the recommended patches applied. In an ideal world Adobe CC would be the way to go but the licencing costs just make it impossible to the even contemplate. A lot of people seem to rave about Kompozer and Bluefish and I have also look at BlueGriffon which seems good. I just wondered if people’s views have changed in the 4 years since the OP’s question?

We have a number of 1010 and 1350's that no longer pick up paper. I have just ordered some of this stuff which will hopefully sort them

We have seen these errors when the HDD is full. We also found another reason why this might happen to be because of issues with a folder appearing in the default user profile. If you browse to \\machinename\c$\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files\ and see a folder called 'sqm' then delete it. This should allow users to login again. Hope one of these solves your problem

We too gave up on Offline Files recently. We are currently trialling Home Access Plus as a sort-of alternative with some staff and are very pleased with it so far.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I will go back to my manager with these opinions and see what he says. My other colleague has investigated Home Access Plus in the past so maybe this is the preferred method to go. The annoying thing is that I set this up within minutes on XP at my old school and I was determined to do it with 7. I shall wave my white flag

I have been trying to get Offline Files working in our environment for aaages when I get a spare moment (ha!) with mixed results. I have been given some dedicated time this week to concentrate on it and I felt I was getting somewhere but then I reached another stumbling block and so I thought I would see how other people have it working. We are running Server 2008 R2 and Windows 7 clients. I have made a policy for Folder Redirection to direct documents to the user’s home directory (%HOMESHARE%%HOMEPATH%) and a policy for Offline Files to administrativley assign offline files to the same location. When our test Teacher account logs on it appears that offline files is working. I can pull out the network cable and browse the folder structure of the users area and create new subfolders. The problem I’m hitting now is when I create or try to open an Office 2013 document. I get the errors “We’re sorry. We can’t open Normal.dotm because we found a problem with it’s contents” and “Word cannot open the existing file (Normal.dotm)” I started thinking maybe there was a setting I needed to change in Office but thought I’d ask how you guys do offline files incase there was a problem with the GPO setups I was doing.

We can't seem to get the Office templates to load for our students. We have added all the sites mentioned to the whitelist but to no avail. Have any of the sites been changed at all?

I have searched all over t'interwebs for an answer to this but I cannot seem to find one so I was wondering if any fellow Edugeekers would be able to help me. We have a Dell Venue 8 tablet running Windows 8.1 and we are able to Bitlock the device, however the options for unlocking were to either enter a USB stick at start-up or have it automatically unlock. I was wondering if anybody knows when Bitlocker is set to automatically unlock whether the drive will remain encrypted until the user logs in with a password (like on iPads with PIN entry) or not?

Sadly we are a couple of months outside the warranty now. We may have to look at pricing up a couple of the rev4 PSUs.

Are you still getting problems with these machines @Zourous? We ran a graphics driver update on this model a few months back which we believed fixed the problem... We have just completed an ICT suite cascade over the summer so these machines have now been split between 2 other rooms. We have removed the original HDD's and have replaced them with SSD's. The image had the same graphics driver as before but guess what - we are not getting the fan noise on 3 of the machines. All of the failing machines have the Rev-3 PSU

Sorry to revive a 5 year old thread.... I was wondering if anyone managed to find out which version of the BIOS worked for the Acer Aspire One? I am trying to KMS activate with Windows 7 installed and I am getting the same errors described here. I downloaded the latest BIOS update and ran the flash utility but it does not seem to have made any difference

I've managed to sort it :-) Created a GPO User Config > Admin Templates > Windows Components > Microsoft Management Console > Restricted/Permitted Snap Ins and disabled services through there

I've considered that option but it just seemed a little extreme. Just thought there might be another way. (Also I think the teachers might revolt if I get rid of their search bars - They'd have learn the actual path to open programs!)

This isn't really causing too much of a problem for us - once services opens we have locked it down through group policy so they can't do anything... It's just one less thing I'd rather they didn't see. I have stopped them being to type in services.msc and open it that way but they are still able to use the Windows 7 Start Menu search to simply type in services and open it.

Did you ever get this working @AIT? I'm following guides and everything seems right with the setup but for some reason I just can't get offline files to work for our Win 7 laptops

Is there anybody that is still having this issue? We re-imaged a lot of our IT suites over the summer (all running Win 7 SP1) and all have Securus client V7.00.30 but the log off issue still happens.
