  1. That looks like a glimmer of hope then Thank you.
  2. hmmm. Just checked the event viewer, after a lot of trawling I've managed to find a warning with Event ID: 1073. TechNet has this to say for itself: Looks like it's a dead end for now.
  3. This doesn't seem to be an issue with our power monitor software. Andy, are you having the problem on all of your win7 laptops, or are your admin ones working ok? I'm wondering if different permission levels to something unthinkable made by Microsoft are affecting it.
  4. @john: The laptops have Lenovo ThinkVantage Power Manager installed, but there are no settings for what start > shut down does. I will try without this active when I see the problem again however, thank you. @Domino: All of the options on there are set to Sleep - there aren't any options to log the machine off when the action occurs, only Sleep, Shut down and Hibernate. The setting to require a password after wake-up is set as on.
  5. Good afternoon, I'm having a widespread issue on all of our student's Windows 7 x64 laptops where when "shut down" is pressed, the laptop will log off and return to the Ctrl-Alt-Del prompt. This is happening on both partitions of the laptop; one connected to the domain for school use, and the other standalone for home use. I can't find any issues with the Group Policy settings or anything in Control Panel. The problem is temperamental - the same machines that are faulty one day are fine the next. There are 3 administrator desktops with windows 7 that don't display the issue. Is there something I might have overlooked? what is there that's different between our desktops and the student laptops that could cause the problem? Thanks in advance Chris Manders
