Hi people I need some help! I have a workflow for our CPD application forms (InfoPath), now the problem I'm having is when I make a change within the workflow on the 'Collect data from a user' task. If you make any changes within the task and then save the workflow you get an error 'Sharepoint Designer encountered an error generating the task form'. Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this error? I’ve tried deleting the step and recreating it, created a brand new step and still receive this error, I really don’t want to remake the workflow as its fairly complex but if I have to then so be it. I'm using WSS 3 and Sharepoint Designer 2007 on a 2K3 box. Thanks for any help!!

Mine is going to be incorporated into a mixed 2003/2008, the SUN looks very easy to setup and manage. Though I won’t know this for a fact until it arrives. But overall shouldn’t be too hard that’s the appeal of iSCSI over fibre. Once I have things setup I can give you some more feed back!!

At this price it’s a no brainer, thinking defiantly punching one for now (all that I have left in the budget) then will get another one in the new budget for HA. They maybe some expansion bays for extra storage, wonder what performance the 10 GigE modals could bring/worth the cost? Now just need to find a suitable switch to complement the box any suggestions? Gigabit - 24 port, jumbo frames, flow control, QoS, decent number of link aggregation groups etc. Was thinking Dlink or Netgear as using there kit already.

The SUN system with the SAS disks I have been getting quotes for well under the £7K mark, the other 2 just over 5K for 3TB (SATA disks).

Openfiler could be an option, might investigate the supported hardware list?

That has cross my mind going down the build it yourself route, I keep hearing all the time the SATA drives just won’t give you the performance, which I know if probably true to a degree. We are currently using SATA disks in our main servers at the moment; this was like that when I got here. But again performance is ok, though I do notice stutters sometimes. Havant really investigated if that’s down to poor I/O or not.

We have some money left in the budget so I thought we could purchase an iSCSI SAN box to start using virtualisation properly. I have previous experiences with EMC FC SANs and have been blown away with their performance. I’m worried iSCSI just won’t cut it compared to the EMC’s FC 2 GB’s I know before. I have 3 boxes in mind which I’ve been looking at 1 of them is bit too expensive the SUN but I might be able to pull it off as it does look the best of the bunch. RAM RAM RAM, there is no real rule about how many you can run it real depends on the resources each VM needs. Get as much RAM as you can as that will certainly go way before you use all your processing power. Virtualize bit my bit and watch carefully your host servers to see how there coping and how much resources you have left. Make sure you have enough left for redundancy if one were to fail.

OK.. been making good progress and been having a good old play with sharepoint and the designer and various options. I've hit a little brick wall though. I just need to assigned a task to someone, no problem can do that. They click a little tick box that they approve the application form. Excellent then on the next step of the workflow I just want to do a check to make sure that it has been approved before processing to the next person. Problem is I'm not sure how I do a check on that assigned task not sure what variable to query! Any ideas anyone...help!?

Running 150 wireless laptops and netbooks fine on a currently unmanaged wireless. Hopefully something we shall be progressing to very shortly is a managed system. But so fair has been running fine, only moving to managed wireless as we need better management of our signal channels and strengths so we can cover some dead zones. Just purchase decent AP's from the start perhaps with management in mind and avoid the 'toys' perhaps you would use at home.

This is getting frustrating; I can find lots of screenshots and documentation on the Microsoft about what I can do just nothing simple to get me started! I'm shocked no one has done anything similar before?

Hi People, Just wanted to see if anyone had implemented any InfoPath Forms with workflow processing into a SharePoint services site? I want to setup a form which on Submit emails to the next person in the workflow for approval, this looks very simple if you have Outlook configured but as allot of our users don't (yet) have this. The only way I could see was using SharePoint to control the workflow. Found some bit and pieces on the web but they are over completing things and as this the first form I want to start simple and grow later if this works. If anyone has any experiences or pointers much welcomed! TIA, Rob

Where talking about the BIOS system password not the OS password Antp

Update: Dell have got back in contact with me, the guy was very amazed that this wasn't included in the Dell Client Configuration Utility as an option to control. So as a result he is now passing this onto the development team of the utility to see if these features can be put into the next release! So I will keep you posted when/if I have any updates.

I'm glad where not the only ones, I will keep the pressure on Dell to sort this stupidity. I'm surprised this hasn't been flagged before now!

Hi, We started to have reports of workstation with the system password set, our initial though was they had reset the Admin BIOS password or similar. But on closer inspection we found even though we had set the Admin BIOS password they can still add a system password!! This is because the default setting from the factory is to allow a system password to be set even if locked by the BIOS Admin password. Found under (Security, Password Changes) What’s worse is we can't even adjust this setting to locked using the Dell Client Configuration Utility!!! I currently have Dell looking into this for me, has anyone else come across this problem? I don't fancy change our 700+ machines BIOS's! Currently effecting our Optiplex 755, 745 and GX620 machines. Worth checking your BIOS Settings!!

Even if you got permission to put this monster up, how do you expect the laptops tiny aerial to transmit the information back!!

The software that came with our Logitech's does do capturing but they still complain they have to rename files after it has saved it to the file location. Maybe I’ll get them to keep that folder open and rename as they are saved.

I’m trying to find a nice simple bit of software for someone; they wanted to capture photos of students which will go into our main MIS, Library and NUS systems. They just simply want to click the capture button then it asks for file name which they can then put either student name or ID into the file name so they know who the photos belong to afterwards. They find using the MS Windows capture wizard to slow and they get themselves very confused with it. I just hope someone might have come across something like this. TIA

What if not all the device on that same vlan supports jumbo frames, could that cause problems? When you say don’t use LACP do you mean don’t use dynamic LACP but manual instead?
