  1. My son has been saving ever since he brought his new gaming pc 2 years ago for a new gpu and it seems prices are finally coming down to a point where they aren't crazy. He has a 1030 at the moment which has seen him through the last couple of years. I'm looking at this https://www.ebuyer.com/1425127-msi-radeon-rx-6650-xt-gaming-x-8gb-graphics-card-rx-6650-xt-gaming-x-8g His budget will go up to £500, but this seems like the best value for money. His monitors are 1080p and no immediate plans to go to 4k. Are prices likely to drop significantly more when the new AMD gpus hit the market next month?
  2. Thanks all, we're with O2 at the moment on a business sim only tariff. Their online portal is down at the moment which is rather annoying. I have tried to purchase through the framework direct with O2 but for the limited number of contracts we want they aren't interested and push us back to the business team, which are more expensive.
  3. Does anyone get involved in purchasing mobile contracts and and have you ever managed to buy them under the public sector frameworks? Or got a better deal elsewhere?
  4. Definitely no mail flow rules defined in exchange admin center? We have some for checking for inappropriate language and copying the email to a monitored box, they do look like they have just come directly from the sender.
  5. Thanks. I'm surprised smoothwall doesn't pick up more, but they aren't always typing these things into a web search. Impressive that Lightspeed can monitor 365 content, I will have a look at that. I'd been having a look at Classroom Cloud, we used to use Netsupport before moving to Senso, main reason we moved was the need for a cloud based system with a lot of device off-site. Still surprises me how much Apple push the whole apple school thing, but don't provide the tools or at least access needed to fully integrate them into school monitoring solutions etc. They work so well for us as 1:1 devices, they are cheap, reliable, hard wearing, easy to manage, just wish safeguarding was a little easier on them!
  6. Does anyone use a safeguarding solution for ipads that actually works? We use Senso.cloud for our main safeguarding and it just doesn't work on our ipads (proxy issues that support cannot resolve) and even if it did the browser doesn't look great. Do any of the other companies now have an ipad app that works? We filter fine with smoothwall on site, but need that extra level that keyword monitoring offers. We're looking to expand our 1:1 provision, so may look at alternative devices as well.
  7. Have used these before, their pricing is on their website https://www.krcs.co.uk/education-pricing#schools
  8. We used an older version of these (we moved onto 1 site 8 and a half years ago now) but had them running over a link with line of sight about a mile across the town with zero issues for 2 and a half years. Think the link speed back then was around 100meg, but for a nursery with about 5 computers in it worked perfectly.
  9. Doesn't sound ideal from a power saving perspective. We've used the startech ones linked above and found them to be really reliable, never known an issue with them with powering displays on and off. We have also used the cheaper startech ones that have a plastic case and a usb power supply and have found them a bit hit and miss.
  10. Ah ok. Thought you meant that storage was staying on the old hardware, so was just checking what OS was going to run on the old hardware to host the storage.
  11. You have server 2000 running on modern hardware? I do have to ask how it got there?! I definitely think the easiest way is manually in this instance. There are tools for bulk creating user accounts, you won't gain much from migrating the existing accounts. Unless you have an unusual setup I can't see there being a need for login scripts etc on the new setup so a good chance for a clean up of things.
  12. How old is the hardware? Can't imagine a modern server os will run well / at all on 15+ year old hardware to host the storage?
  13. What hardware is it running on? Presumably it is being replaced as well?
  14. How big / intricate is the domain? Just wondering if it's been neglected for that long it may be very small and actually easier to set a new one up from scratch and just migrate data?
  15. Is it worth trying something like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Neoteck-Extractor-Optical-Converter-Splitter-DAC-1080P/dp/B01GH4MEYC/ref=asc_df_B01GH4MEYC/?tag=googshopuk-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309953091299&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=9948125115123843603&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9045117&hvtargid=pla-562707718451&psc=1 in case it is an issue with the output from the projector?
  16. We replaced ours with an Epson PU1007W - have been really impressed with it. We just painted the wall with projector screen paint. Looked at alternatives to projectors but nothing comes close in terms of price / size
  17. We don't have door contacts wired in, just the maglock connected - Negative to Com and N.C bridged to negative on the supply, live into the live input from the power supply. I think the door contacts should go into the 4th and 5th connectors up from the bottom on the right hand side? Edit: - I'm assuming you mean door contacts to be the magnetic switch within the maglock which detects if it's open or not?
  18. Isn't this what the standing charge is supposed to cover? Then the unit rate just covers electricity used? Def seems like there are too many different people involved in the process!
  19. Makes you wonder how much is put on top by the energy companies in the middle then? They don't do much other than billing do they?
  20. Assumed the prices that have just quoted for business that are fixed for the next 6 months are what they will be paying? Domestic rate with the new cap from October will be around 35p per unit for electricity, vs the 21p a unit they have just announced for business? Unless I've worked something out wrong somewhere!
  21. All the news articles were complaining about how businesses were paying way more than domestic customers, now their rates are being fixed considerably lower than domestic. Doesn't seem overly fair.
  22. Does sound like the better way to do. Does keyword monitoring still work?
  23. Thanks! Good to know what it is, not so great to know that there isn't a proper fix yet and we have to disable parts of Senso to make it work! https://support.senso.cloud/support/solutions/articles/79000133634-sophos-core-agent-2022-x-and-senso-cloud-windows-agent It does say on here: Sophos have supplied further information which appears to allow our product to be re enabled: Please disable SntpService (Sophos Network Protection) in your services - You will need to disable tamper protection before you are able to disable this service Testing with our customers these changes appear to allow functions of Senso and other affected 3rd parties to be re enabled! We are still monitoring - With this element of Sophos disabled, you will not require any changes to our product! Just wonder how much of a security risk disabling this service is, and am i better of still disabling part of Senso?
  24. Since September I have had an number of computers (about 5 so far) that have serious issues with network speed at random times. I thought at first it may be cabling issues, but there are too many of them on different parts of the network / different switches. It's not server issues, as other computers work fine at the same time. It appears to be predominantly when accessing network shares, the speed of the connection can drop to only a few kb a second, or completely stop so files cannot be opened. Most of the time you can browse the internet at the time and downloads even still work without issue. One computer I seem to have resolved by updating network and other drivers, but may just have been a coincidence that it got better. There are at least 2 different models of Dell computer that is affecting so far. I will start stripping off Virus scanners (sophos) and other apps like Senso to see if this makes any difference, but any other suggestions are welcome!
  25. If you're after recommendations for what to install, we just put in an Epson PU1007W into our main hall, the difference in brightness and quality compared to the old 8500 lumen projector it replaced is amazing.
