Digital Student Planners - What are people using?
Ecalpemos2000 replied to scubagirl's topic in Educational Software
We are an iSAMS school and use Homework4 by Concept4. Links to iSAMS no problem. Give the Northern office a call, ask for Alex Buck. Great team they have there. -
Not sure if this is the right thread, I have an SSRS that is hosted externally. They won't allow subscription services to be used. Is there anyway around this? Any software that I can use to link to the SQL server and do the same job as subscription services? Any help much appreciated. Tony

I have no idea. I will email my old NM and ask him how he did it. It might take a couple of days.

As the wallpaper is allowed to be changed for only the logon process, the pupils were unable to change it after the logon had completed and they are also unable to do it during the logon process. As I said Wally seems to have it working, and I am unable to test what I say as I no longer work in a school or have access to the whole system or scripts, I only have the bginfo part.
-
The excel file that bginfo linked too was placed in a secured area on the network(a master document) the NM then wrote a logon script that copied the excel to the c drive of the machine, which was also locked from pupils. The bginfo linked to this doc, on the c drive, onlogon the wall paper change was allowed to show the bginfo data, it was then restricted again after logon was complete. On logoff another script was run to reset the background and to delete the local version of the excel file. Thus on next logon if any changes has been made to master doc they would be reflected. The whole process of which data to bring back was based on the AD username.

Ok from what I remember, and I am not a network manager, I just wrote the bginfo part, what we did was this...

Message Wally, craigw, I am sure he will help. I don't work in the area anymore so can't talk you through it but I am sure he will.
-
No you can do it without giving them that privilege.

Hi, not to be a salesperson but look at Vsware.ie they will pretty much give u a system that you want at a very good price. Either email them or call and ask to speak to the boss, Patrick. I am sure he will do you a good deal. I am also at an international school and the service they give us is excellent.

Sims does indeed have the feature and it can be configured to go to x people as desired. Its great for staff to also call assistance to the classroom.
-
No I am pretty sure that can't be done. Not automatically. It will filter the lists down in sims intouch but again you need to manually select the recipient.
-
You can configure the behaviour on the desktop for day the head of year to display the behaviour for their year group for today and etc but I don't think if I remember that sims will send alerts to multiple people, but I may be wrong.

I will send you a google docs invite to the files. If you pm me your email. You will have some tweaking to do to make it work, logon log off scripts etc, I no longer work in UK with this stuff so can't help with it but I could pass you an email add for another edugeek user I have helped make it work. The beauty of it is that is dynamic to every pupil and you only update one excel file. Pm me.

That is the law in France, employers are not allowed to contact staff outside their working hours or indeed send any type if generic for info emails etc. The only thing they can do is send snail mail. I have to say, it's great that after 4pm all is quite... -

And a great school(I don't work there) and fantastic facilities with brilliant staff and pupils. -
Bginfo is fantastic but can be used for so much more. I have used it to show students on log on their current attainment and target grades by linking to an excel file. Ofsted loved it. A fantastic bit of kit but you have to write a script to pull the data and a logon/lot off to retrieve the excel file from the server.

You can set up a scheduled event that can export the report data to say an excel or .txt file. If you use excel you can include a macro that has an auto date and time or on creation send itself attached as an email by using vb mail script. Quite a complicated process though.

[android] Email app for Android Tablet
Ecalpemos2000 replied to elsiegee40's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
Blue mail is a fantastic mail app. I use it on every device with no problems. I actually prefer it to inbox. -
Make a list with slt called the none negotiables and the coms process is one of them. Sell it to slt as audit trail for umbrella putting up if anything to do with comms with parents was to go wrong. Another for the list is registers. Ans then name and shame offenders and add in to performance management. The staff will then use the correct procedure.
