  1. We are a selective Grammar school also - pm me and I'll forward contact details for our head of ICT. (We are in Sutton Coldfield)
  2. We found that identifying IT savvy teachers and encouraging them was the best way forward. That gave us a core of teachers willing to experiment with the IT which spreads to the other teachers who want to improve lessons. Some even hold there own workshops for members of their departments. Another option we started with was to have an ICT Steering Group which met every term to discuss IT issues. This helped get across ideas and knowledge of what was available etc. Over the last 4 years we have gone from having 1 or 2 IT savvy teachers to nearly 80% using it on a regular basis with the remainder using it on occassion.
  3. Can anyone in the North Birmingham area shed any light on The Birmingham North Area Netwoek ICT Network Managers Meeting taking place at Hodge Hill Girls Sch. It's been suggested that I may want to attend but no one here has any further info. Ta

    GLPI - Reports

I have GLPI installed (No OCS attached yet) and all seems to be working normally. Does anyone know how I can print or export a list of equipment in a Room? I can bring up separate lists for Computers, Monitors etc in each room but I can't seem to be able to bring up a full list showing the computers and what is attached to them. Is there a way of doing this? The GLPI forums are pretty useless and documentation is non existant While I'm on the subject - us there a way of creating your own default reports to add to the existing ones?
  7. Yep - Stone Computers here as well
  8. We tell them all to take a backup of their own work before they leave. We keep the home directory open till the end of the summer break, disable the accounts at the start of the new school year and after Christmas we delete the accounts, home directories and all. We usually have a full backup of everything taken at the start of the summer break which is kept for a year.
  9. Sorry - Can't help. I got as far as you have. It's sidelined for the mo due to a lack of manning and other projects but I'd like to see what the solution is

    Blanking plates

A piece of cardboard or plastic held on with duct tape will do the job if you are not fussy about looks
  11. Make sure you remove the current version completely as we found that installing a newer version over the old one didn't work.
  12. We had one do that. Try uninstalling the software and reinstalling a newer version. We think this cured it but can't be 100% as the PC was reimaged shortly afterwards during the summer hols, but no problems reported since.
  13. Someone has nicked all the sweets from the staff room
  14. It's 12:27 now.
  15. 78" Smartboard, XGA projector, Security Cage, Pole and ceiling mounts approx £2500. (Inc electrics which work out around £120) It varies very slightly depending on the type of ceiling.
  16. Sorry I can't make it - Only one manning the fort while others try and get their annual holiday entitlement in.
  17. UK2.Net are very good. I've been using them for 3 years and I can't remember any time I've had to call them for a bad service or the site being down.
  18. I don't suppose there is a free version (more than a 30 day trial) of this is there?
  19. We have about 20 17" CRTs available - all in good order - You can have if you don't find anyone closer.
  20. Try the Sony DCRSR52E - 30GB HDD and our technophobic teachers are using it with ease. Cost is around the £300 mark
  21. Anyone heard of or used QA-IQ Cold caller is offering a 20 day course for £100 a day (no specific course mentioned). I was not overly impressed with the sales rep and the prices on the web site are the usual high prices. I just wondered if it was worth my time looking into it any further

    Printer Toners

We use originals for reliability, but we send our empty cartridges to a recycling company and get some of the cost back. It's not a lot so we also get the staff and kids to bring in their old cartridges for recycling too.
  23. Coppermine? Site Here a working site is available Here
  24. By the time you use annual leave entitlement owed to you, Time off in leiu owed and you are bound to have a nasty migrain for a couple of weeks, I'm sure you can stretch it the extra month Not that I'd condone such action of course
  25. ....................and that's what happens when you reply to threads in a rush In that case - the easiest way we found was to wipe them and reimage them. You could use a password cracker from a floppy and sit at every PC and hack the registry though
