is this 64bit 32 bit issue?? If you are using a 64bit server have you installed the 32 bit drivers for clients

This is what Capita did for me and it fixed the problem.. apply patch 15769 to your SIMS .net database to resolve the first issue. For the second, please could you extend the timeout for Discover by doing the following: Go to C:\Program Files\SIMS\Discover Services Take a copy of Discover.Warehouse.Service.exe.config and name it Discover.Warehouse.Service.exe.config.old. Then open Discover.Warehouse.Service.exe.config in notepad. There should be a section titled like below: Underneath add the following: Once done, please save the configuration file with these changes and restart the SIMS Discover Data Transfer service. This example will increase the timeout period to 15 minutes. Please could you also apply the re-index patch to your SIMS database via dbUpgrade, using the sysman SIMS user. If the Discover Transfer continues to timeout please look at KB109255 in regards to Addressing Performance Issues.

if you are using scripting then I assume that you are using a sript to map the new printers? use a batch file to remove all printers

We cleared our network, by using the sophos specific tool and ensuring the correct patch has been applied to the machines. Start with the server and then do all the workstations. We still get warnings when infected datasticks are inserted but the virus cannot jump between the machines. We don't clean the sticks as we wanted to avoid wiping data that could be vital (even if it is infected). Regular offenders are warned that there is a problem and given some guidance on how to check their own home systems.

My findings with the Superhub so far are.. 1.Poor range with no ability to add an antena to help boost this as I have been able to do in the past. 2.Poor internal speed, transfering files from my NAS to my PC (both cabled) is only ever able to run at 5-6mb /second 3.System appears to slowly grind to a halt and then drop the signal. ?(middle light goes out) a simple restart ussually fixes this. I am moving to the modem only mode and adding a newer router to hopefully fix these problems.

At last I see the problems that I have, I have an older house which is stupidly made of a series of brick walls with Radiators fitted to the brick walls. I need to get the brick walls replaced with wood and paper and than remove the stupid radiators which seem to only be used to heat the house..........

agreed Ideally can you let us also know what version of SQL you are using and what service pack level In Sims what products are being used ie Lesson Monitor, Discover etc and what other roles does that server have

take a look at the resources and see how much memory is being used by SQL

which version of server cause unless it is enterprise you are only ever going to be using 4 gb of that Ram

Depends what you want really. I initially liked the superhub but the range is poor and since there is no ariel I can't really do anything about it. Tivo is very different to the V+ box and does some rather good things with series link and being able to select types of programs that you like to watch. HD is still only 1080i and the 3d content is poor. But with the good things are small irritations. You can't set rminders and when a recording starts sometimes is make the banner appear whilst you are watching. The ethernet port is live and can be attched to the superhub and is due to allow access to recorded content from devices attached to your LAN. App for setting programs to record is available but a bit limited as far as I can see.

if you search this site you will find reference to @Matt40 's wonderful utility which will zip the backups for you and remove them after a set amount of time. Tidybackups they are created ever time SIMS is upgraded or the database is patched. In reality you should only need to keep one as I doubt that you will want to go back any earlier.
