We use this Sync and Charge Multiple iPads |LocknCharge I have the iQ 16 Cart™, but had intended to buy the wall cages (somehow I managed to order the wrong product, imagine my surprise when it was delivered!) However, I really like the cart and it works well. What I liked about the cages was the baskets inside, so the cages would have lived in my office but the ipads could have been taken out to classrooms in the baskets.

I've taken the passcode off mine. I think I had to agree about 3 times that I didn't want a passcode, on each individual ipad, but they no longer have passcodes whcih means when I hook up my trolley all 16 ipads are appearing in Apple Configurator, or iTunes, and I can work on them all at once

We are using a class-set of ipads for a school video project. After each lesson, I'm backing up the photos/videos shot to my mac so that if anyone else uses the ipad in between lessons the work isn't lost. The movies are in Movie Maker, and the children can give their movie a name, "Class 2, Group 1" and send them to iTunes, and then I can pick them up in iTunes and back them up. However, raw video that is sitting in the camera roll is harder to identify. I did think of getting them to move all their videos into an Album on the iPad and naming the album, but it seems as soon as you move a photo or video into an album, then you can no longer see it from the mac. I've tried iPhoto, image capture and iTunes but I can't see a way to save an Album. Any ideas?

We've gone with Chrome Books, but it does help that we use already Google Docs across school, and our LEA has all our students setup with google accounts as a matter of course. The chrome books are net book sized, pretty instant on, very quick to connect to the net etc, and work on flash-based websites that won't work on ipads, such as mymaths and education city. They also have a good battery life. The only downside we have is that you have to log onto a google account to use them, and we have some issues with forgotten passwords. There is a 'guest' mode which would be ideal when just needed as a web-browser but it doesn't work with a proxy.

I've facing the same problem here. We print to a colour photocopier, we are charged 5p / colour sheet, 1/2p per black and white. There is currently a pile of unclaimed copying on the staffroom table that must have cost over £50 to print. Approx 2 reams of paper all in colour.

We use one called Lock and Charge. Ours holds 16 ipads, but they do one that holds 32. I find it really good. It's very sturdy I can roll it into my office to sync software from Apple Configurator in one fell swoop. Easy to roll around etc. And I like the 'shopping baskets' that hold the ipads. Plus it looks like an air-hostess's trolley, and we get no end of amusement offering people tea and coffee as we wheel it around.

I did get it to work by installing a client, but I can't install a client on all the laptops overnight, and if I stop everyone from printing there will be chaos. I was hoping to do something invisible to the staff. We have tried a system before where they had to enter a pin number and they could never remember their pin.

I need to track the printing in school, as costs are escalating rapidly. We have a mix of domain computers, staff laptops that are not on the domain, ipads and chromebooks. So, generally not an easy task The ipads print to a dedicated Airprint printer, and I expect I can't monitor these. Chromebooks don't currently print, but I presume the will one day also print to the Airprint/Chromeprint printer. Staff Laptops mostly print direct to printers via IP Address. I'm thinking I will need to change that to print to the shared printer? I've looked at PrintLogger, and alsp PaperCuts. I liked the look of PaperCuts but it was stopping by laptop users from printing so I've had to remove it. PrintLogger wasn't picking up our main printer, but did pick up some of the other printers. Anything else I can look at? Or any suggestions on how to get Papercuts to play with the laptops?

I can't see anywhere that lets you select a group.

I was using Assessment defined groups, but I think they work in the same way, so I will take a look. Thank you.

We don't use the timetable. They are sets, as in classes that the children take Maths and English in. As opposed to their registration groups which they take most other lessons in (we are a middle school, so only group for Maths and English) I set them all up manually the last few years, but every year I believe there must be a better way. It seems to me I should be able to pull up Year 8 set 4, and select all the children who were in Year 7 Set 4 last year and add them, but I can't even find a way to do that.

I have a list of all my sets, with childs name and UPN, and I want to create a group for each set. I've got about 30 groups I need to create, but I can't see any way other than manually selecting each child, a group at a time. is there an automated method?

When I'm adding printers to non-domain machines, I've found adding via IP address works the best. The Printers remain available permanently, whereas when added by shared name they can't use them if they aren't logged into the domain.

Yes, I set them all up without a passcode. 48 hours later they are now all requiring one.

We have a trolly of ipads which I have now updated to ios7. They are now all requiring me to set a passcode. If I set a passcode and tell the staff/students (is 0000), then I presume some clever student can change the passcode so we are locked out? We don't need or want a passcode. Is there anyway around this? I'm using apple configurator.

Totally agree, and we are doing that in some lessons, but we have other staff who like to make leaflets or posters for wall display purposes. Some of those templates do look useful.

We have a full set of chromebooks up and running, and for the most part things are going well. But the students do a lot of posters and leaflets, and I can't find a way of doing a leaflet (3 fold) or a newspaper article in Google Docs. Does anyone know of a web-based alternative we could use?

Well I got them all rolled out using Windows Deployment, but it was a long and tedious process and I only needed to do 33 machines.... Multicast wouldn't work, and after having tried it, unicast wouldn't work either. I ended up having to select Format Hard-drive before each installation or they would fail. I couldn't even get the WAIK to download correctly (Kept saying the file was corrupted), so I just answered the questions manually. Feasible with 32, but not so good if I'd had 1000s to do. All in all, a very frustrating process, and not one I'm keen to repeat.

Hi Our office staff use thin clients that automatically connect to a citrix website. Came in this morning and none of them work. I am eventually told the IP address of Citrix has changed. They can manually enter the new IP address, and it's all working fine, but they would need to enter this IP address every day to connect. The 'help desk' told me I could redirect the old IP address to the new one in DNS but he didn't tell me how to do that! I've had a look, but I can't see anything obvious.

I'm trying to create the image. It's a brand new machine, just had Win 7 Pro installed on it, and Office, and a few other bits of software but not much. I am not wondering if Ghost is the way to go, or if I should investigate Windows Deployment Services.

I'm trying to create a Ghost Image. I've built my new PC with Windows 7 on it. I've newly installed Ghost on the server (we had it on the old server so I have used it before but I've never set it up from scratch). It's all looking good, and I'm picking up the ghost session on the PC, albeit it's asking me to enter the session name manually whereas it was previously set up so that it just picked up the session and started working. The session starts well, and then it sticks at 14% every time. It's a file called 68 recovery.wim Any suggestions?

I have a Microsoft OV EES Agreement which was sold with Win 7 Home machines, expressly so I could upgrade them to Win 7 Pro. I was also told I could upgrade the various old XP machines we have.

I do have a server running Win Server 2008 R2, what I don't appear to have is a Key for Server 2008.

We have a server with a license, but it's not part of the volume agreement.
