SchoolCloud /Roombooking have an outage in case this helps anyone
mdrabble replied to robintech's topic in Cloud Services
Seems to be an issue with the authentication - we did use Office 365, but had to switch to LDAP to get working again (for now) Downside, is that I need to complete all the meta stuff in the SAML on school cloud. -
Fortigate - Captive portal if no authentication
mdrabble replied to mdrabble's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
We got our Fortigate devices with SwitchShop and have some engineer time available, so might get them to take a look and sort for me. -
We have a School Device SSID which has Windows laptops on it, which are authenticated at logon - no problem. SLT gave the go ahead for Art to purchase 2 iPads for photoshop/drawing even though I pointed out the headache it would cause for internet usage We have Unifi APs and Fortigate Firewall, so I was hoping it would be possible to get the iPads to use form of fortigate captive portal for authentication. Is it possible for a device on an Fortigate Interface to be presented with a captive portal page if no authentication is found for that device? - looking to put the iPads on the same School Device SSID/VLAN I hope that all makes sense........ Cheers

Not sure if anyone follow Linus Tech Tip, but they recently reviews the Intel GPU and gave it a very good reviews. Not played done any PC gaming in years so I’m out of touch on these things. So not sure if good or not, but sounds promising.

We put all our Paxton kit on the same VLAN and the video intercoms work fine with our UniFi switches. Not touched or configured anything IP v6.

I removed the Azure auth settings and then re-added them - seems to have cured our issues (as far as I know - no complaints since) -

How are users authenticating? Having a major issues using SAML/Azure authentication - had to switch to LDAPS this morning to get things working, so not sure if could be Azure related. Have also contacted them for info. -
[ms office - o365] Random issues with Shared Computer Activation!
mdrabble replied to kennysarmy's topic in Office Software
Just come across this thread as I am having the exact same issue and the strange thing is that all users have no issues, it appears to happen only to our controlled assessment accounts - which are no different to normal accounts - with the only exception to having OneDrive and Exchange disabled on those accounts. (with even with everything enabled, they still have issues) So glad it not just me having the same issues! Will get the staff to try the PowerPoint/Excel option to see how that goes - I might even add the token redirect as a belt and braces approach. -
Has anyone used Winget at the end of a TS to update any and all software that been added to SCCM? If yes, how have you scripted it? For first time use where it prompts for country code etc? Cheers

I must be in the minority as had no issues with InVentry whether it is down to how I wanted it installing (VM for DB) and then screens for main office/reception and quick access terminals for external doors. Support have been ok - managed to speak to someone with in a couple of hours of raising any tickets and had issues resolved quickly. Yes, there are things i wish could be improved - but at present it works well for how we use it - all 6th Form have ID card which they sign in and out with using the quick terminals and year 7-11 use a dedicated student screen.

I use Papercut Print Deploy of a couple of Intune laptops - works well. For domain joined users I use @Katy GPO/Powershell - https://katystech.blog/on-prem/powershell-printer-script - never missed a beat.

I'm replacing a laptop trolley of 32 x Dynabook (Covid) laptop and looking at the Lenovo V15 G4 - so they can be used for both exams and as a bookable resource. Have people had many dealing with that model? Cheers

Adobe Acrobat Pro - Request Signature option missing.
mdrabble replied to Koldov's topic in Office Software
Had the same issue - after hours of scrolling through posts, came across this which solved it. Start Adobe Acrobat DC Click Edit in the menu bar. Click Preferences. Click Language in the Categories list. Under Application Language choose 'Same as Operating System' from the drop-down menu. Click the OK button. Click File > Exit Application. Now start Acrobat DC again. The Fill & Sign option should be visible ontheToolspage Taken from this url: https://community.adobe.com/t5/acrobat-discussions/request-signature-option-missing/td-p/13291727/page/2 -
Is MDT similar to MCM (SCCM) when creating packages? Have you got it set to deploy from a TS? Can’t remember where the tick is as not at my desk at the moment.

Sent a quick MS Forms out to staff to try and gather some info and I think I may have found the pattern. We are slowly migrating users from On Prem to O365. All the users who are reporting issues are all On Prem users - so either issue with the VM holding the Home Drives or possible issue with the Host.

I have a bit of a strange issue and I'm struggling to diagnose what the cause is and why it is happening. When a user logs on - it can be pot luck if it all works correctly first time. Randomly shortly after logon either Explorer.exe, Any Office 365 app, Edge, Chrome will freeze and give an Application Hang error in Event Viewer - nothing else jumps out and screams this is the issue. Task manager is showing nothing out of the ordinary (from what I can see and tell) If the computer is rebooted a few times it appears to them work normally. No major changes have taken place (other than usual MS/Office updates) This is happening on a both Windows 10 and Windows 11 devices. on devices that have had Windows running for 2 years or newly imaged PCs. Devices are i5, 9th Gen, 8GB Ram, 256 SSD - have plenty of free disk space Anyone come across anything like this? Cheers

[ms office - o365] Office 365 Apps update issue
mdrabble replied to mdrabble's topic in Office Software
Updates via SCCM, installed via SCCM TS on initial build and licensed via Shared Computer Activation. Nothing has changed but I am now starting to think it could be part of a wider issue - as I am now seeing Explorer hanging as well as some office apps. It is taking a number of reboots before things work correctly - and this is on a mixture of Windows 10 and 11 devices. -
Weird issue with Office 365 where apps get updated and then causes issues for end users unless an admin logs in and opens any 365 app to display Office 365 has been updated. Anyone come across this before? Not sure why it waits for an admin to login for letting people know it has been updated. Cheers
