Activprimary Activote file path errors
marsdenprimary replied to marsdenprimary's topic in Educational Software
It seems to be happening to users who don't have access to the server\userdata$\users\user file structure. Do you think there is any way round this? -
Hi, I keep getting the message: invalid file / path error whenever I try to open Promethean Activote. It's only doing it on the user login. If I log in as Admin it's fine. Anyone know how to change the default path? Is it possible? The problem, as far as I can tell, is a file permissions issue on the user folder but i can't allow access through the route its trying to take due to security. Any advice?

I nearly fell of my chair the other day whilst on the phone to RISO...we have just purchased 6 systems running Windows 7 64-bit for our staffroom and after setting them all up with full software, updates etc... they tell me there is no driver for Windows 7 64-bit. This means none of our staff can print to our RISO photocopier. Is there anyone out there who knows of or could perhaps make a driver so it works?

I don't have that much gadgetry really- it can be too distracting. A laptop is bad enough! I've always been a gamer so i have a PS3 with a 32" LCD telly, an i-Mac for recording my music and a PC running Linux. I've got some ancient technology known as a Piano and i'm discovering my own internal, highly advanced bio-technology known as my body... it's amazing once you start using it properly for manifestation, hugging and tapping

I don't know how that could just affect the admin logon and not the other standard users though?

User keeps getting 'Filename too long' and can't logon!
marsdenprimary replied to marsdenprimary's topic in Wireless Networks
Well I changed the ntuser to a .man and it's worked!! THANKYOU!! -
Now then...just tried that and it worked! So it can't be a problem with the script... it has been working fine until Windows 7 and like I said previously it just seems to be the network admin account. All the others are fine...

We're using Server 2003... so it may have to be another way. Like I said though all the users (except my admin account) seem to be able to see the mapped drives...
-
I would really appreciate some help if it's out there on this one...it's driving me nuts! And it's also a little bit weird...
-
Hello. Installed Windows 7 and when a standard user logs in- they can see the mapped network shares (public, teachers etc...) but when I log in as admin...nothing. Any ideas? The logon script on our server looks ok but is there anything that might need changing for windows 7?

Step-by-step noobie Win 7 Imaging Guide please?

Thankyou for this Would this mean I could copy all the applications i've installed too? Like an exact clone of the complete machine? -
User keeps getting 'Filename too long' and can't logon!

Could I just change the current ntuser.dat to ntuser.man? There is a seperate profile for the user causing the problems and a re-direct is in place. -

Now I know i asked 'how do i create one' and MANY thanks for the guide...but my real question is: 'What is a mandatory profile??' -
User keeps getting 'Filename too long' and can't logon!
marsdenprimary replied to marsdenprimary's topic in Wireless Networks
Hmmm... A roaming profile isn't neccessary. How do i set up a mandatory one? I'll delete it from the server and see how that goes too... -
User keeps getting 'Filename too long' and can't logon!
marsdenprimary replied to marsdenprimary's topic in Wireless Networks
The strange thing is it says it is stored in the Temporary Internet files folder...but it's not there. The folder just doesn't exist. It's not hidden either. When i log on locally the only way to resolve the problem is to delete everything in the local profile folder. I've checked the profile stored on the server and there is nothing there. Should i perhaps delete the server profile too? -
User keeps getting 'Filename too long' and can't logon!
marsdenprimary replied to marsdenprimary's topic in Wireless Networks
It appears be something to do with Internet Explorer and the filename appears to be a .jpg!! e.g hKf5RskdflJgkssdfDFGDFGSDFGJgjDFgJdfgkdfgDFgjdfGsdfg-sdfGDFgjaergAERger-gerg-er-gergERggjasdsdffkryIYIEKVM.jpg What could be happening here? -
I'm having a profile problem... When the user 'public' logs onto the pc i keep getting an error that prevents them from logging on and there is always a filename that is too long that is causing this to happen. If i log on as administrator and delete the local profile everything is ok for a while. Then eventually it will happen again... What could it be? And what could i do to sort it out?

PC shuts down when i plug a usb optical mouse in!
marsdenprimary replied to marsdenprimary's topic in Hardware
I did try the others...it seems to be when i plug the mouse into ANY of the ports- when the other 3 devices are plugged in. There are something like 7 usb ports on it so i can't see how it would be a problem plugging lots of devices in either... gonna try the mouse... -

I'll try another mouse... see how I get on -
I've suddenly started having a problem with one of our new ASROck net top boxes, whereby if you plug the optical mouse into it...it just switches off. Power gone. If you unplug the mouse, unplug the power lead, plug the power lead back in... it boots up again. Could it be a faulty mouse?

Hello, We have just purchased some netbooks in our Primary school with webcams on them (we also have some fizzbooks with cams on) and wondered if anyone knew of any (preferably free) software that would allow multi-cam communication between them within school via the LAN? I'm not looking for any communication via the internet (ala SKYPE) so it might be an unusual request... Hope you can help!
