hi can you create a course that allows guest access with a troublesome image in it so i can see, all the courses require a log in at the mo so cant examine an affected page nick

I would also recommend papercut. It will do both the web based print and the follow me printing as mentioned above. nick

Hi Sad day for me on the 26th August, I will be leaving Education and moving into industry. I would like to have stayed in Education, i like education, but there are no progression opportunities round here (been 4 nm jobs advertised in a year)plus i need more money now,as we have just had a baby. So on the 26th i will be packing up any possesions i still have in the office and saying goodbye to education. I start my new job as a server analyst for a large PLC on the 30th, and i am really looking forward to it now. It will give me huge amounts of experience. I will still hover around on here! thanks to everyone who has helped me on the forum nick

Hi I am trying to use RT7LITE to intergrate IE9 into my windows 7 disk. The only IE9 MSU file i can find online is the pre release version, which has to be upgraded as soon as you use IE. Does anyone know where i can get the latest IE9 MSU? nick

[fog] Web interface very slow to log in centos virtual server
bart21 replied to reggiep's topic in O/S Deployment
As @morganw says, that'll be your issue Nick -
I agree, however i had no choice, both the DC's were the 2 hyper v hosts and the website had to run on a DC. I did send the head an email outlining my advice so that my back was covered nick
-
@sparkeh this is how i agree it should be setup.
-
yer but would those physical DC's be the hyperv box its self? To me that is crazy, i installed IIS on the DC and had to wait till after school to reboot it because i also had to reboot all the guests, such as sims, exchange aswell, whereas if the hyperv server was just hyperv and all dc's were virtual i coukld reboot them whenever i want. nick

Hi Just want peoples opinion on this one. On a couple of sites i have visited recently they have server 2008r2 installed on a physical box, they then install hyperv. They then promote the physical box to being a DC. Surely a physical hyperv host as a DC is a bad idea? i think it is, if you need to reboot that dc to fix an issue or install another role, e.g IIS then you have to reboot all the virtuals aswell. Whereas if it was a virtual DC it could just be rebooted. nick

Moodle Installation. Ldap Authentication
bart21 replied to Chunks_'s topic in Learning Network Manager
have you deleted the local users with the same name as the ad user from the database. e.g student john smith has a local (non LDAP) moodle account smithj, you then enable LDAP and john smith tries to log in with his LDAP account (also smithj) he cant until you delete both from the db and let moodle create the ldap one in its cache.7 nick -
StarTech.com Mini VGA Video and Audio Extender over Cat5 | Ebuyer.com have used these before, they do sound as well, pretty awesome actually. nick

Does it have a ststic or dynamic ip address? (my thinking: if it is a dynamic address (assigned by DHCP) has the address changed from what you think it should be) nick
-
Just tried it externally for ya, it is trying to redirect tohttp://andy/rdweb. Will the http://folders.ashgrove.valeofglamorgan.sch.uk/rdweb work inside your network aswell (it should do, if it does not ask the LEA to create an internal DNS record at their end), if it does i would point the redirect to http://folders.ashgrove.valeofglamorgan.sch.uk/rdweb so that it works seemlessly inside and out. If you need any more advice please feel free to ask nick
-
you say that url gives the IIS start page from externally, i just get page cannot be displayed. Does it work for you from home? If it does have you tried http://folders.ashgrove.valeofglamorgan.sch.uk/rdweb , if that works then the redirect i mentioned earlier should work. I am keen to help you with this so let me know nick
-
Can you tell me what the external domain is so I can see exactly what you mean. Nick
-
you need to create a html page called index.html and insert the following (this page needs to be in the wwwroot of the rdhserver) Replace the Google with http://rdhserver/rdweb (or whatever the external address of the rdhserver is) nick
-
you could put a redirect page in the site root of http://rdhserver.school.county.uk to redirect people to http://rdhserver.school.county.uk/rdweb nick
-
Cool, let us know how you get on. Nick
-
Did you manage to get it installed?
-
You should be good to go then.

we had this issue, you need to check to see if it is showing as a mail server in the AD schema yet. If it is and you just wipe it it will always be there and will cause you issues. You can check by going to start->run->adsiedit.msc Select the second default naming context and drill down to: CN=Services > CN=Microsoft Exchange > CN=Organization > CN= Administrative Groups > CN=(Groupname) > CN=Servers > does your server show here, if it does you will need to delete this server. (BE CAREFUL) if not feel free to just wipe and reinstall. **Anything in this post is from my experience and i cannot be held responsible for any damage caused to your system** nick
