Hi All, Not sure if the title explains this very well, but what I am looking for is some way of creating a form which can be filled in on a web page - but which mirrors the design of a paper-based form - and then when the form is submitted allows the recipient to be able to download and print in exactly the same layout as the original form. I'm hoping one of you knows of some awesome piece of software which might allow me to just throw a PDF at it, allow it to be embedded in a page, then sent back to me completed as a PDF in the same layout so that I can use for various things - but as an example, take a job application form. I have a paper form which we can send out, I also have an electronic form currently in Word which people can download and fill then attach and email back - but I want to skip the user having to download or leave a webpage to do the form completion AND then allow their form submission to come back to me in a nicely laid out way in the same form layout as if they had downloaded the original to start with. I've used them for years but login using public ldap instead of azure. Their pre-sales and tech support is very good. I'm very happy.

Hi All, I'm looking for recommendations on decent AV suppliers, as the small handful I used to get quotes from seem to be less responsive than usual. Other than generally looking to rebuild a useful list of contacts, I'm looking at particular in the replacement of a Hall AV solution - most things are all fine and dandy, but I want to replace what is essentially a classroom level UST projector with something else wall-mounted (due to limitations in the hall - no low ceiling or grid etc!) which will achieve much better brightness and detail. Looking forward to all replies and recommendations! Cheers

I've given up doing 2D drawings now unless absolutely required - I just use Sketchup and do 3D instead. Same amount of effort but far better results which always 'wow' those who request them.

Having had my PC's for a week or two now (and rewarded myself with one being my new workstation!) I can honestly say this is an amazing price for what it is! Rigs built for 3D rendering with awesome graphics and 48GB RAM - for just a little bit more than standard business desktop money. SO happy!

Hi All, I've been asked by our Geography department to purchase some Garmin 60's and ESri ArcGIS Desktop Educational Site License for their extended use of GIS next year. Now... this is an area WAY out of my comfort zone, and none of the team are particularly clued up on this one either! Is there anyone on here who makes particularly good use of things like this? Is the Garmin device and above software route the right way to go? Would you advise any alternatives? I'd also be interested in hearing which suppliers you went with, as my traditional IT ones are scratching their heads on this one a bit too! Cheers Mb2k01!

What is your role? The most worrying part of it all to me is the statement that you 'have no choice' and that your 'opinion isn't relevant'. It is extremely bad management to not allow choice or welcome discussion. If you are the IT specialist there and employed as such, the Principle should be ASKING you, not TELLING you. For me, it is a decision about what is best for everyone not a minority. Without getting in to a Google vs Microsoft argument, if 365 works for T&L, is easily administered by existing staff, and there is no sound business OR T&L decision to move, then I would be making the decision not to move. The loud minority must confirm to what works best. In terms of quick win claims you could use to your advantage, how about the free office licenses for staff and students as part of your EES / Office 365 licenses saving everyone a considerable amount of money? The fact the system ties in with Azure which is increasingly used alongside other cloud solutions, technical support from the MS team is considerably better than Google and at no additional cost. There are probably many others too.

Don't worry, I think I'm just suffering from massive tool-itus. Tech 101 - check everything / work through logically.... it appears my problem is that the regions don't display in my layout preview on my machine - but having just pushed a test layout to a screen it appears to work! If the regions work on the screens I don't mind that much, i can live with not seeing a preview. Is it normal to not expect those regions to preview though?

I'm hoping someone here might be able to help on this one. I have Xibo set up and have everything working how I want it to, except one feature - web pages! I want to create a region and have a web page displayed in it, but whatever I seem to try just has the region displaying empty! I've tried various sites, even Google and BBC but nothing seems to want to display in that region - no matter what settings I choose in terms of best fit / native etc. [Edit: Actually - if I mistype an address and have http://www,google.com (note the comma) then I can actually embed the error web page - just seemingly not other websites!) Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong / how I fix it to be able to successfully display web pages in regions? [Xibo 1.75 running on Ubuntu with Windows clients at the screen side - a mix of Win 7 and 8]

With the greatest respect, I'm actually less likely to take up such an offer due to the way this thread has turned out. As I said, I'm not exactly thrilled with Impero myself so I can understand people wanting to look at other options, but the heavy posts from a rival company in someone elses thread leaves a bit of a bad taste for me. Bit like vultures swooping down and trying to pick flesh of something that isn't dead yet or a school unashamedly trying to poach students already on roll elsewhere.

Just to throw my 2p's worth about NetSupport School as lots of others seem to be doing, but actually not a positive... I have previously arranged to go with this at a former site, and while I was happy enough with the pre-sales process of getting trials and negotiating pricing, the software itself didn't leave me with the same kind of positive taste as it seems to be doing with people here. I found it to be frustrating when trying to save classroom layouts, performing lower than desired when using the demo or video feature, and support was difficult to obtain initially (though to be fair once you got someone they would happily connect in which I did like). Don't get me wrong, I'm now an Impero customer and I'm less than happy with their quality of support at the minute - and the last several versions appear to have baulked previously working features which frustrates the hell out of me - but, not enough to make me want to switch yet - and if I was to, I'm not sure it would be NetSupport School (or the DNA suite) I suppose the only reason for this post it to focus back on the fact the thread relates to Impero, and to just give a balance to the product which others seem to be suggesting is a much better alternative but actually might not be for some.

Hi Jon, If you were willing to send me a copy too that would be fantastic. I'm looking at trying to do the same thing as the OP.

The app doesn't appear to work if you are on SWGfL and/or using proxy settings on your machine. (If I tether my phone and use my 4G connection it works fine, so assume its one or both of the above causing the issue)

The options you have left now are replacing projectors (though I'd question the logic and value in doing so for a peripheral), and finding a powered adapter to test if that approach works. Your first option should have been testing one before purchasing in bulk. If it was you, then you've just got to bite the bullet and chalk it up to experience, but if it was someone else it's a nice time to point out they should have engaged with you on the technical front before purchasing.

I see what you mean. For me, it didn't matter as I just ran ADModify the three times I needed it (1 for smtp:[email protected], 2 for smtp:[email protected] 3 for SMTP:[email protected]). Wasn't a huge issue as only took a couple of minutes to do my 1000 users. I guess if you're wanting to engineer a neat run-once solution then that isn't any good.

I know it doesn't answer the specific question you asked, but I've used ADModify to do this previously. You can do it using the username switch (which I think is %samAccountName% but don't quote me! @school.onmicrosoft.com and then do another run to add in @school.lea.sch.uk. (Actually... got to the end of writing this and aren't too sure it was ADModify I used.. it might have been WiseSoft BulkModify, but both are pretty similar)

The headings are: person_type surname forename midname upn_ni_tt email_phone notes location main primary If I have a person called Matt Smith and I want to set email, location as Work and address as Primary here would be the CSV: person_type,surname,forename,midname,upn_ni_tt,email_phone,notes,location,main,primary E,Smith,Matt,,,[email protected],,W,T,T Or - download the attachment and save as .csv instead of .txt and add your own data: staff email bulk import template.txt

It looks like you're sharing the same pain we had a couple of years ago! We're still by no means happy, but have it reasonably operational.
