Its a feature. They say that it prevents the student from saying they forgot their password, as well as enabling the parent to easily check whether their child has homework without having to log in.

Exactly the same as what SHimmer45 says! I didn't think these days people were still installing separate bits of software on DCs, especially if Visualisation is already an option at their site.

Yes, had a couple through in the last month or so. Seems to be that time of year again. I have another to reply to atm, but the previous one (wanting slightly different details) had a reply address that bounced mail straight back, and an email address listed in the body of the email which didn't even appear to exist... what a giant waste of time! In terms of answering, where I'm at currently doesn't have a great deal of support contracts in place as we have a fairly large and well-experienced team in house, so the response is very quick. If however I was in a place which had lots of high value contracts I'd be asking myself whether it was in the commercial interests of the company to reveal certain details. Take a look on the ICO website and look at the restrictions which are there to help you sometimes.

Agree with DrPerceptron on both points, apart from the rating of Securus itself. I found it flaky and to have a slowing effect on my old network (though to be fair, it was a few years ago when I tested, so they may have moved things on) I currently use Impero for classroom management (have used AB Tutor and Net Support School previously) and Policy Central as a direct alternative to Securus.

Why have I never thought about using a monitor in portrait before?! @Sephiroth, you may have started a desk revolution now!

Ultimately I don't mind remaining the/'an' admin but don't want to put others' noses out of joint as we'd discussed setting something up while assuming more than one could have that kind of access! Hi, I'm not sure if this is a 'problem' or just me imagining functionality which never existed - but isn't is possible to add more than one admin or moderator to a group? I've just created the Cornwall Tech Meet group and had envisaged being able to share the admin responsibility with at least two other users, but I can't seem to find a place to do it! Cheers Mark

Yep. Microsoft consider the issue I reported to them to be resolved and have just sent me the message below. (If you're still having issues yourselves I'd recommend opening a service request through the 365 portal). Although the issue was a bit annoying I've got to say I'm very impressed with Microsoft here. Really great communication from them - the fact they actually rang us of their own accord rather than replying to a ticket impressed me!

Scrub the bit about there not being a workaround - I just tried something fairly obvious.... If you try getting the user to configure Microsoft Outlook instead of trying to access via OWA it seems to let them access via that route. Not particularly helpful if they need to use OWA due to the device they're using, but if they're able to use Outlook it will be good enough 'till MS fix OWA!

@themightymrp thanks for that - it was worth a shot! Unfortunately it doesn't get around the issue.

To be fair to MS they have been pretty good with support - had two fairly quick emails and even a phone call from a team manager! Apparently the issue is widespread and intermittently affecting small groups of users across lots of sites! They've assured me that this is being worked on at a high level and they will update me (and others who've logged something) as soon as possible. Unfortunately no work around or anything in the mean time - so affected users are without mail access!

Hi All, Has anyone come across an issue recently where a previously working user suddenly becomes unable to access their OWA account in Office 365, displaying the following error message: X-OWA-Error: SDServerErr;Microsoft.Exchange.Clients.Owa2.Server.Core.WacDiscoveryFailureException There appear to only be a couple of google listings of the error so far, with MS forums showing posts created yesterday and today! Looks like MS may have done something at their end, but curious to see if any of you have managed to fix / get around? I had used them in the past and they were ok, however I'm actually more inclined to do so now too as they have recently been bought by the same group that owns CMS/Zoostorm which I also swear by. As long as you had a similar skillset and could demonstrate how you've managed data at a similar level then possibly. SISRA is fairly easy to pick up from what I've seen/used myself. I can't say too much about Profiles though - despite being a SIMS Manager (technical) in a previous life I've never had anything to do with it!

All joking aside I'm fairly sure that Newquay Airport does fly to/from Bristol these days! (I may be wrong though!) In terms of timetabling, we've dropped in a couple of related items in to the job description as we think it would be useful for the post holder to understand the academic management side of things, but the above referenced Assistant Headteacher is our timetabler! (Having the added skill set certainly wouldn't be a disadvantage though!)

Full time, and we do! We have a colleague retiring from a wider position which over the years also grew to include data / assessment / reporting. She and one of our Assistant Heads have done a great job in this area, but this position will hopefully allow us to go further - it will be a really pivotal and exciting role for the right person to lead in.
