VMware Finally Lifts the Lid on vSphere 5.0
Sylv3r replied to andrew-virtusolve's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
We've just finished installing vSphere 4 today!! I take it this is a paid for upgrade and not part of our 12 month support subscription? -
Try these have used them all in the past for various installs. Aircon Refrigeration Ltd based in Stockton 01642 760565 HLA Services Ltd based in Sunderland 0191 5486699 Northeast Airconditioning Ltd based in Sunderland 0191 5101262 We use the last one for all of our servicing exsting units currently.

I know a school who use Dropbox for transferring files to and from a server on the iPad - I don't know the exact in's and out's however.

Just wondering - did they explain what the difference is accessing school e-mails via a PC and their mobile phone? Rather than create a whole policy it may just be worth adding the use of mobile phones for e-mail use to your normal staff AUP.

We've bought the EMC VNXe3300 and have only unboxed it and stuck into our cabinet this week, but haven't turned it on yet. I can let you know ovr the next week or two when we get going with it. If it earns marks for being shiny, it's a good start.

Thanks all for your suggestions. We managed to get everything installed yesterday and all looks pretty good. Just ordered a rang mountable KVM with built in tray with monitor etc, will will finish the job off nicely. Then time to get comissionining.

This was my initial idea - if anybody else can argue against it, I will probably go with this. Thanks everyone for your ideas up to now.

Cheers - I take it you are talking bottom - up?

We are moving our to google calendar and are going to break it down to staff / year group news, so parents are able to filter information via our school website.

It's the same system in theory. Cunninghams deal with the south of the country and CRB with the north and scotland.

Now I know theres probably no right and wrong answers to this question, but I am currently in school today unboxing our new kit ready to rack into our cabinet over the next week. Does anybody have any preferences or hints and tips as to the best order to the put the following kit into an empty server cabinet. 2 x 1U Switches 1 x 1U Autoloader 1 x 2U Diskbox 2 x 2U ESX Servers 1 x 2U SAN 2 x 2U UPS's I am thinking the heaviest stuff at the bottom, but other than that, I can't really think of any necessary order. I'd be interested in hearing your views. Right now back to the unboxing - as you some of you may have seen the picture I have just posted on twitter - these UPS's are going to take some moving for one person!

We also use a WIKI but have neglected it for some time and have not updated it - these summer holidays are going to manic for me with the amount of work on, so i'm hoping to plan a quiet October half term and get everything fully documented then.

We use the flipcameras and .mp4 files, as we convert them using the flipsoftware before editing. This should be relatively simple to roll out and to use - especially if people are happy to continue to use Windows Movie Maker.

I received a trial of an RM slate and only had it out of the box for around 10 minutes before I put it back in the box and asked RM to collect it. Slow and unresponsive and I am not 100% sure whether Windows 7 is a great tablet OS. I've just upgraded my iPad to the iPad and must admit I love it. Note taking, e-mail and web is perfect to use. I'll be purchasing iPAD's in stages for our Leadership team on a rolling programme as and when required. We are also investigating funding for a bank of 32 iPAD's for use in a teaching environment - other schools have had good success with this, and this is something we wish to consider more. Especially if we look at providing a personal device for all students within our sixth form.

[sims] Profiles - space after full stop in comment banks?
Sylv3r replied to ctaylor's topic in MIS Systems
How about adding a space to the start of every comment bank? It will mean your reports will begin with a space but it probably wont be noticiable.- 3 replies

[sims] SLG and Assessment Marksheets - Slow to load?
Sylv3r replied to SteveB's topic in MIS Systems
It was generally slow for us to load, until we changed the options to display 10 students to a page. How much RAM do you have in your DB server as this will also have a big effect. -
We allow our sixth form students and staff access to YouTube - this obviously includes our Media Studies students.

Hi Catherine I am guessing the SIMSManual.exe within your SIMS/Setup folder will include the NovaT6 manual. The other option is to create a capitaes.co.uk account as I am sure the manual will also be available on their.
