  1. Looking at side-by-side comparisons I'd have to agree. Everything seems a bit purpley on the HTC. But I've been reading up on the phone a bit over the past couple of days and I must say I agree with this article: Don't blame the HTC One M8's camera | News | TechRadar Do I really need more than 4MP? Probably not. I have a 12MP Canon Ixsus lying around that never gets used as well.
  2. Sometimes I think learning to drive is the worst thing I've ever done...
  3. My contracts up in May. Can't afford another iPhone. Was looking at the Sony Z2 but noticed the slightly cheaper and comparable HTC M8 on EE's website. I think I'm now sold on the M8.
  4. Currently using Smoothwall to loadbalance a 50mb Fibre and 10mb EFM lines together for upto about 400 simultaneous users.
  5. meh, can't see what all the fuss is about. It's amazing that we can do these things and no doubt as time goes on and the technology advances it'll get safer, more reliable, and maybe even have medical uses. To me it's the same storm in a teacup that surrounds GM crops. Let's hear what the experts have to say and ensure the field is properly regulated and leave it at that.
  6. It's sad, but if I tried to explain how my old Speccy or CPC worked to the current smartphone bashing generation I'm sure they'd look at me in the same way I'd look at you after reading that sentance - Man you're like well old!!! I've read about punchcards in the history books...
  7. Practical was no problem, passed first time. It's the theory that caused me problems (I swear the actual test had a diffent answer to a question than the practice exam software I was using!). I say no problem, I did think I failed until the examiner surprised with a pass. Going down a winding country lane, 60mph limit, and I get stuck on my gears. Trying to put into 5th but keep getting 3rd. Afters 2 or 3 attempts I say "b*ll*cks, I've failed anyway" (to myself) and leave the car in third. Later, thinking I'd already failed, I asked the examiner to check my clearence on a "multi-point turn".
  8. What a total waste of development time! Surely the man hours would have been better spent on a sequel or new IP for the PS4? Here's hoping Rockstar DON'T follow with GTA:V. Give us Red Dead 2 instead, please! That said, if they are cross buy titles then I might selfishly change my tune
  9. I can only offer two thoughts, possibilities - Is the writeback cache settings the same on both controllers? Do they have the same amount of cache ram? Also, could it be a PCI bandwidth problem? What happens if you swap the cards over? or move the new one to another slot?
  10. Ook - An epic tale of a librarians struggle for recognition in a world of Wizzards, banana republics and Donkey Kong references.
  11. Planet of the Aps - Apples worldwide domination plans come to fruit...
  12. The Italian Jo - Whatsa Matta You, hey! Gotta no respect!
  13. Or - The Simpsons Move. A moving tale of one families battle to escape doughnuts and blue hair dye by travelling across the american mid-west to a new life in a small town called "Springfield".
  14. 2001: A Pace Odyssey - A film about a really long, slow walk back in 2001. Full Meal Jacket - This is my rifle, this is my gun... Life in poachers boot camp Eyes Wide Shu - Japanese guy has trouble blinking Four Roos - Life in the Australian outback From Dusk till Dan - Waiting for Dan, he'll be here some time after dusk... Robcop - He's name Robert, and he's a cop! Oceans 1 - Danny Ocean and his best mate at a casino playing craps. Ocean 13 - Tug boat captain sails the 7 seas and finds another 6!
  15. I played it on a proper computer! Von Neumann architecture - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (I'm 100% certain the PS3 qualifies )
  16. GTA V? Wow - how retro, I've completed 5 games since then. I'm sure I'll have another 2 under me belt and be half way through WatchDogs by the time the story DLC is released. What am I trying to say? I think I'm bored waiting for it! It's either got to be an Epic 10-15 hour game in it's own right, or a complete let down. I was looking forward to the story DLC, now - meh. Not sure I could even remember the controls...
  17. Hotline Miami doesn't seem to appear for PS4 yet. I assume it'll be free on release as a cross-buy purchase for downloaders of the PS3 or Vita version in this months PS+?
  18. Although I've had one or two run-ins with @seawolf where I thought his arguments (while technically correct) have been a little over zealous, I will say this in his defence - (and this has been an interesting thread to sit back and chuckle over) It is interesting how quickly some members bemoan Apple as soon as anything to do with the company is brought up for whatever reason. Personally, I'm happy with Apple products. I enjoy using them. They tend to suite my personal requirements. I'm sure that's all that really matters at the end of the day. To hell with who originally invented the binary digit or whatever.
  19. I knew it was crossbuy but thought that was just PS3-Vita. Will look out for it on PS4
  20. I think you're looking at US PS+. We have Sly Cooper and ISS for PS3 this month. Sure we had Arkham City around Christmas time. Mercenary Kings looks good. Really like Metal Slug and this looks very similar.
  21. Same here. Always really wanted one as a kid though.
  22. Long winded, but I think this is the answer the problem is looking for... Int age = user_input.nextInt(); Switch age { case 0: case 1: case 2: case 3: case 4: case 5: case 6: case 7: case 8: case 9: System.out.println("You are under 10"); break; case 10: case 11: case 12: case 13: case 14: case 15: case 16: case 17: case 18: case 19: System.out.println("You are under 20"); break; case 20: case 21: case 22: case 23: case 24: case 25: case 26: case 27: case 28: case 29: System.out.println("You are under 30"); break; default: System.out.println("You are over 30"); break; } Not very elegant. Can do the same job with a couple of IF's. edit: @LosOjos beat me to it, lol
  23. Please, Please, Please. You know, God, I never ask you for anything, but this once - I'm prepared to suspend my scientific belief system and join the holy flock - if you could only make this come true. Just make Darth Vader the President of Ukraine for me, please Oh Lord, and I'll happily join a Catholic monastery of some such.
  24. It's interesting how eat-up and anti- people become over successful companies. Apple, Google, Microsoft, Facebook, IBM. Whatever happened to "the device does what I need it to do and suits my needs". Does it matter if Apple "invented" the touch screen interface or not? Really? The key thing with Apple is that they are a design company, a boutique label, more prosumer than consumer. They've never really been a mass market outfit prior to the iPhone and I don't think they were necessarily aiming for mass market appeal when they developed the iPhone (certainly not at that price any way). What Apple have always been good at is taking good ideas from elsewhere. Maybe improving on them slightly. Combining them with other good ideas and in the process coming up with something evolutionarily better than what had been available before. The iPhone is a good case in point. Not the first MP3 player, not the first Smartphone, not the first touchscreen phone, not the first PDA. Hell, even the UI was largely ripped from PalmOS. But they where the first to bring all the components together in one compelling package with a design flair other companies rarely match. Credit were credit is due. If the original developers of "transparent texting" are that bothered by Apples patenting then they can always (try and) do something about it. I'm buying Android next time because, to my mind, UI and case designs of only caught up with Apple in high end devices in the past 18 months or so - and Android is cheaper. Personally I think all this Apple bashing is just a load of old nonsense based on little more than a total misunderstanding of Apple as a company. It's simple - they're not Android and don't want to be. Same can be said about the silly Internet fanboyism and company bashing that goes on for most of the really successful IT firms. On a related note I think software patents are the scourge of the IT industry and should be banned! Apple, Samsung, Google, Microsoft all seem to be constantly in court these days trying to extract royalties from all sundry based on little more than the contents of a few IF statements.
  25. I think the article does have a point. There is a general problem with most people understanding of how computers work. And for a device that has become central to most people adult lives that's a bit disconcerting. The car analogy can be a good one. I've a basic idea of how an engine works, but I've no need or love for the subject to know what each part is called and where it goes. I've past my driving test, and I know the fundamentals I need to know to use the device competently. I think the article is trying to highlight the fact that most people don't know the basic fundamentals they need to know to operate a computer competently. And that is worrying, it should be worrying. The problem right now is that the governments answer to the problem is "teach everyone to program". Er, no, how about "teach everyone the fundamentals"? People using computers should know what an operating system is, what a file system is, what a network is, etc. They don't need to know how to write an OS from scratch or build a computer from components. But they should be able to go into a store like PC-World and know how to buy a suitable device for their needs. Why does it not worry us that a degree educated individual fresh from university can't find their proxy settings? Can't understand why an embedded youtube video might not work? etc.
