My brother used one on an Orange contract as his main broadband connection for a while. As he found out, the device itself is okay but is obviously very reliant on your chosen phone operators 3G roll out. You'll probably want to spend some time staring at the different companies coverage maps to make sure you'll get a signal where you plan to park the caravan. I've used 3G on my iPad/iPhone with Orange/T-Mobile in various parts of the country and find it more than fast enough for basic web surfing when I get a signal. I think 3G is usually around th 5-8Mbps mark?

AFAIK, All pc's should be bought with their individual OEM license for the lastest version of Windows and the CoA for that license should be physically on the machine when you buy it, anything is sounds very dodgy (unless you're buying a Mac or want a Linux box). For Windows 7 you have two options. It appears, from @chazzy2501's link, that if the machines have a Win8 Pro OEM CoA on them then you can install Windows 7 Pro (not sure how license keys work/are managed for this, I've never done it this way). The other option is to have *any* version of Windows 8 (we normally go for Home Premium here) licensed with the PC and then have a Microsoft Volume License Agreement (Select, EES, etc) and purchase "Windows 8 Pro Upgrade" licenses, you can then use these "upgrade" licenses to downgrade to any previous equivilant version of Windows (7 Pro, Vista Business, XP Pro). This is how most schools do it. EES saves you a bundle - both money and headaches - but you still need the OEM CoA stickers for a version of Windows on the PC's.

Didn't the last governement try that? (BSF)

My brother (just turned 30) is worried about the current fashion for "denham thongs" (hot pants) - "must chafe". On closer inspection (watching girls walk by), I can't see what the problem is

Ignoring the obserdity of the cable for a second - I'm trying to picture a scenario where you need the toaster to be 5m away from the mains socket? I'm guessing on a table next to the Lazy boy in the middle of the living room. Terrible thought having to move out the chair to make some toast - might actualy have to pause CoD on the 4k projection (sound wired through The Registers "Bonkers Build Hi-Fi" - of course) EDIT: and yes the £20,000 custom build gaming pc is connected to the hi-fi using a gold plated, plantinum shielded, ant hair optical cable
-
When someone is a) Stupid enough to buy a gold plated, lead shielded, ant hair optical cable for $2000000 b) Is then clever enough to relalize how stupid they've been c) Is then will to let the world know how gulable they are and put a complaint in with trading standards. If you stupid enough to spend £50 on an IEC lead - you'll probably be wanting to keep that quiet

Brent Spinner cutting the alien open - makes me jump EVERY time. Even though I know it's coming!

I mumble something like "I don't mine, it's only light". I'm sure I used a disaproving enough tone that said to him - 'go away and think about what you just told me!' Still I'll keep my curtains closed for optimal audio fedility Edit: This of course is just an uneducated hang over from the old analogue days when gold plating and cable shielding actually did make a difference. I can see them getting away with it on HDMI leads (sounds plausable to the lay person) but optical!?! really!?!
-
...to buy an optical cable [staring at uber-expensive cables] Me - "Do you have any sensible priced optical leads?" [rep points to shelf behind me that I spent 10mins looking at without seeing] Me - "Thank god for that, the prices of those other cables where scaring me!" Rep - "They are shielded so they don't get interference"

I've seen #3 before, and it's the most recognisable for the job. But that said, I'm probably #1 now (holding a big rock that's about to come crashing down on me...)

I'm guessing by that you hadn't tried Windows 8 then! Also seems putting the start button back isn't going to make anyone happy - MS are really screwing this up, lol.

Here you go... -
Generally bath once a day. If I'm driving to work then in the morning before I go. If I'm cycling then it's in the evening as soon as I get home. If I'm feeling lazy on non-work days I might not bath at all...

I said exactly the same thing after the XBox announcement. You'd never have guessed by their output over the past year or so, their main source of income is flogging Office to businesses customers. Maybe someone needs to remind them of that! First Windows 8, now this. What's next - no more desktop version of Office? Only available as Office 365 in the cloud? Morons!

Was Technet included in EES? I bought the two seperately, didn't release it would be a benefit...

For this thread - not really. For what our head of ICT wants to do - It'll help. I'd struggle having my picture taken trying to hold up a MRI scanner

I used this... pygame.draw.line(screen,black,[50,400],[200,400],10) To draw the platform in my code. Should be usable for a pong game. The arguements inside the braces are... (<varible for display graphics outputting to>, <colour of line in format (R, G, B)>, <start coordinates in format [x,y]>, <end cordinates in format [x,y], <pixel width>)

Intresting to see how meny of us can't live without our smartphone anymore...

An idea... Column 1 = KS2 grade Column 2 = Baseline grade Column 3 = If "column 1 < "value for lowest possible score" then "column 2" else "column 1" A "1C" is worth 7 points so IF "Column 1" < 7 THEN "Column 2" else "Column 1" SIMS should see the underlying value of th grades in column1 so there's no need to go through extra steps converting grades to values to make the comparison

$170 - shows dedication to the cause! I'd sooner find an old 10-BaseT LAN card (I must have one laying around somewhere) to hold up
