When a certain user logs on i get a message saying The problem appears to be access rights because on the server if i go to F:\Users\Profiles\Family\Joe\ i cannot see the cookies folder in the folder list (ive got hidden files enabled) but if i type into the address bar F:\Users\Profiles\Family\Joe\Cookies i get access denied, if i set the permissions on the folder F:\Users\Profiles\Family\Joe\ and make it apply to child objects and folders i just get another access denied message while trying to set permissions. So how can i change the permissions to make this work again. Thanks Jack

I think you will probably need a proxy for this, might be wrong though Jack -
Heres some info shown by KInfoCenter: cpu family: 6 model: 5 model name: Pentium II (Deschutes) stepping: 2 cpu MHz: 348.228 cache size:512kb So thats a 350MHz one i need i think. So does that mean i need a processor where stepping is 2? Thanks, Jack

Ah good ol' SECUNDUS! Jack -
To find mine in i put in a kubuntu live cd then used KInfo (something like that) which is under the system tools to find out which it is. Errm, i have no idea its for use in a DELL Poweredge 1300 which has slots for 2 processors one of which has been used Jack

Ive got vsftpd installed and ive got chroot home dir disabled for my user to let me browse all across the server, ive checked the its disabled for me by checking with a ordinary ftp client and i can change directory to / by using that. The problem is i need to use Windows Explorer in some places where installing a FTP Client is not really a good idea but it defaults to my home directory when i login with my user and i dont seem to be able to change directory from there to anything else either by changing the url or by clicking go to parent directory (I get a 550: Failed to change directory) ive also tried creating a symlink to root but that didnt work either. So does anyone have any ideas? Thanks, Jack

Yes thats what im talking about

Ive got a directory that ive ran the following commands on chown -hR jack:www zage chmod -R 775 zage This seems to change the directory security correctly, heres the output from ls -l drwxr-xr-x 3 jack www 4096 2008-01-11 00:02 zage But from my ftp server a user who is in the www cant create a folder or delete a folder already in the directory. The FTP server seems to be using the users details not just a standard account on the system. Oh yer its Ubuntu 7.10 Server Edition that im using Does anyone have any ideas on how to solve this because im stumped Thanks Jack D

Will normal users get back the use of the IMG tag in signatures as currently it is disabled in vbulletin?

Im sure thats ubuntu 7.10 with Beryl/Compiz Fusion installed (i think it comes with it by default, cant remember) id definatley recomend ubuntu had no problems what so ever with it!

hehe Anyway i know that at least one of those things is possible the "Create some graphics work for department....etc" one that could probably be acheived very easily with GIMP or something. Personally ive never had AD setup while ive been into linux so i wouldnt know the answer to the other two, ive converted my windows server over to the linux side now but im sure someone like Geoff will be able to answer your questions. Ah and the network printer one works fine for me i assume your talking about printing to a windows server hosting the printers, well ive only had it setup with samba but that worked fine with ubuntu using the standard config tools Happy linuxing! (That sounds stupid)

When i first started out playing with linux i dual booted my machine with Ubuntu and XP Pro that way if i ever needed anything XP i could quickly get to it.

I'd try running wireshark on the server and see whats happening with the network interface on there. Just a thought Jack
