True. The bulbs themselves are 12v with a 240v transformer built inside for each one. The 12v cable to the bulb is what has been wired back to the relays - so there's no mains comings out. :-) Paul.

It is and its programmed to interface directly so there's no need to faff around first. You just need to know which pin is which as say for example 11 may not match GPIO11 so you may just need to play around first.

Here's a screenshot... On our case, it's basically: pin11 is Red pin13 is Yellow pin15 is Green "Normal Mode":

I did the project in Scratch. I was just saying before that we start the kids off early with Scratch, then move on to Python. The scratch script for the lights just shows them how easily it can be to make something "big" happen with something that small. I'll share the scratch script if you want?

I've never had anything to do with Arduino to be honest - so I don't even know how to use one. The school I am at uses Pis in classrooms all the time so I just think it shows what simplicity you can do, alongside with complex Python programming etc. Using Scratch is at least one step towards using a full programming language, at least friendlier on the eye..

I like the Pi Zero now I've managed to get my hands on one. Problem is, by the time you spend time attaching the pins and plug in adapters I might as well just buy a normal one cos it makes it so big.

Just go into This PC. Right click, say "Pictures" , properties. On the location tab, change it to something like "D:\My Stuff\Pictures" or "D:\Pictures" etc. When it asks to move or copy, choose move and it'll use it as the default location so it saves there without having to use a short-cut.

I personally hate Google Drive being from a Microsoft background. I just love OneDrive because at least the online apps are "real" :-p Just good old Microsoft changing their prices soon, probably Nadella trying to catch up with Gates.

I appreciate they are designed for 1:1, they're ultimately for home use. We've got over 300, about 100 of which are class sets shared by potentially 6 students per day each (that's if the batteries last that long mind haha!) I never thought about that. It's a shame how every possible solution always seems to have drawbacks, especially when students are involved lol.....

Do you use Office365? If so, put the OneDrive app on and upload them using that?

What's your server lease time set to? 7/8 days MS' default. Can you not try reducing it to 1 say day? Ok loads more requests but even 12 hours if you've got lots of people backwards and forward at different times of the day.

I do Steve and it works spot on, without the overhead of Citrix etc.

Using Hyper-V, We have 2 session hosts for 'older apps' and 100 virtual Win10 desktops. User logs off, it's deleted and recreated in about 10 seconds. Once a term we update the master image, recreate the virtual desktops by clicking a few buttons. It so beats a room with 30 PCs which like you say are a pain to manage.
