Yeah, if there's no PTR in the reverse lookup zone, you won't get a valid response doing a reverse lookup. Yeah, that seems like your issue - if you're not using the MS DHCP server, then no dynamically assigned machines will get reverse zone records added. So, you're seeing what you should then.

So, in the 2.10.in-arpa one, is the address you are trying to reverse DNS listed? If I go into one of my reverse lookup zones, there are IP addresses listed, with the data showing the hostname. These get populated by the DHCP server IIRC, as the 2 are integrated.

What do you have set up as your reverse lookup zone(s)?

Most tools like that do just ping the address - else there's not really any way to get the machine to say "I'm here".

Yeah, if you don't have a USG, that IP won't actually be used at all. DHCP server is also a USG only feature. So basically, the "LAN" setting and DHCP server settings just don't do anything for a basic Unifi AP install.

When you say Unifi, what kit is installed? Certain features are only used by the USG gateway kit.

My guess is they are doing something odd in the way they host the subdomains. Looking at the code for the site, there do seem to be some rather odd issues with it. Seeing / instead of slashes. They seem to be missing a https: before one of their script source files too.

Oh yeah, we have lots of legacy Flash stuff, but most of our departments have been moving over to web based stuff - its more up to date and more modern.

Should be able to, yeah. So long as the other side has an "out" for each VLAN that is untagged then the traffic leaves the switch as if it is connected to a dumb switch. So, you'd have Switch 1 & 2 Port 1 - untagged vlan 1001 curric Port 2 - untagged vlan 1002 admin Port 24 - tagged vlan 1001,1002

Without having dedicated time keeping swipe locations, you can't really. People hold doors open for people, people leave through wedged open doors etc... If you have timekeeping points, then you can do that - there's even a program specifically for it when you install Net2. I'd not like to use it for that though. Especially not in a school - hours are not really something we should track, as so many school staff do extra work at home etc...

Performance? An iMac is just an Intel PC with MacOS on it - you can just get something with the same components in but Windows based and you'll have pretty much the same performance. i5 + SSD + 8GB RAM will run pretty much everything you throw at it.

See, the multimedia stuff is mostly why I bought an Xbox to be honest... But, that said, with the availability of multimedia platforms now at MUCH cheaper prices, this new device needs to make gaming the primary focus, and multimedia stuff a nice to have add-on.

Remember, the PS3 base model was £425 in the UK at launch (RRP). So, £499 is expensive, but taking into account inflation since then, not *that* expensive. I wouldn't be surprised if it was over £500 to be honest, with those capabilities...

We use device type and asset label number. Eg TAB5624331 DES67348423 etc... Makes life much easier for remote support of devices across the Trust - "What's your computer ID?" We don't need to know make, model, room etc... then. Just one number and we can do everything we need.

Another nail in the coffin of MS for us to be honest. The instability of Windows 10 and now this, just more reason for us to move to Google Apps as much as possible.

You know what's weird - I signed up for "Adobe Incentive Plan (VIP)" 25 x Shared Device Licenses, 12 months @ £34 each last year. Just sent in my request for renewal pricing, so we'll see what it comes out at for me. EDIT: Had the pricing back already... Still £34 per device.
