Currently all in one of our schools (we don't have a central office building, Trust staff are spread across the schools). We are moving to a cloudy future though, so the number of servers we're running is reducing all the time.

Yeah, it isn't a huge amount. So, realistically, you should be paying about the same as we do for them at those distances. Sounds remarkably like the company you got a price from wasn't quoting for the same product - maybe they were quoting for a PTP via their own network? So, MPLS or similar but not telling you that?

Dunno, but the OpenReach PTP leased line "Ethernet extension" stuff, you basically only pay the distance between your site and its nearest exchange. Our schools are all really close to exchanges.

The difference for us is huge. 1Gbit internet leased line, £14.5k 1Gbit PTP link, less than £3k Pricing for filtering is about half too - we run 2 Sophos XG boxes instead of the prior boxes on every site. Worked out half the price.

Their GDPR page covers: 1. In the EU, we deal with "Adobe Systems Software Ireland Limited" as the controller 2. They're a little unclear with this one - they don't specify where, but state that data is transferred outside the EU using model contract clauses and the Privacy Shield agreement. Yes. The Mobility Print was already something you could install anyway with MF. This just makes that part free for everyone else.

Yup, looks like it. Same with our other kit that uses their smtp relays. I would suggest looking at SendGrid as an alternative when this happens.

Yes, you'd need to have PaperCut NG or MF as well to do that part.

We do visual inspections. Things like flood tests and the like don't get done, as the device is an installation anyway (hard wired).

No schools down here allow children to have their own, non-school issued, devices. Phones are all handed in etc... So, no need for BYOD.

I'm a little confused by this thread - no-one has noticed this is in Windows. Do all your children log in to Chrome on your PCs? If not, then settings in the admin console will do nothing. If it is Chromebooks, I don't think you can force change the search engine centrally. But again, this should really be handled by your filtering. Safe search should be set by your web filter. I have yet to find a web filter that doesn't do this! Both our filtering solutions handle this - Sophos XG (for non-Chromebooks) has a tickbox, and Securly (for our Chromebooks) has a tickbox. We've not had any complaints about Google results for years.

The co-op Brie and Cranberry ones are pretty darn good too. Never seen that one on the shelf at our shop @sparkeh

I've contacted Microsoft and our reseller about the new SKU. Reseller can't do anything, as it is EES only. So, we'll see what Microsoft do. Seems stupid to release something for schools and then restrict it to license types that most schools in the UK won't ever have.

We use SCCM with task sequences. One standard task sequence for each role. Eg. Base (Office, Chrome, utilities etc), Teacher (Base + Smart notebook etc...), ICT suite (Base + Curriculum software) Drivers are injected according to device automatically by SCCM and Windows, so we don't really worry about that.

2 Middle Schools, 4 Primaries, 4 nurseries. About 2000 users all in.

We have 2 DCs - both in the central site, on a redundant cluster. No DC's on sites at all, no servers in fact. Means we can use the money we'd spend replacing servers across 5 schools for other things, like better connectivity and moving to 1:1 Chromebook schemes.

Why? Its a bare wire between 2 points effectively, a private circuit. A risk assessment would have it being an incredibly low risk issue.

We use Exa Networks for our connectivity.

We have a single domain, with central servers (no servers on any school sites). We do not use MLPS - it is an unnecessary technology really. We went with point to point leased lines. We found them cheaper. Basically, each school has a leased line that goes to the exchange and the exchanges link to each other. We pay less than £3k for 1Gbit from site to site for most of our schools. We then have a leased line breaking out to the internet at our central site.

Depends which model doesn't it? If you only want a 24 port POE switch, the Gen 2 one is cheaper than the Gen 1. Though, the POE budget is a lot lower (120W vs 250W). But if you want the Pro level ones, with Layer 3 capabilities, you are gonna pay almost double.
