Didn't Alteris get bought out by Symantec?

We used to use motorola XTN 446 radios but now in new buildings we've had to invest in a repeater/licensed channel and vertex standard radios... all a bit pricey. The motorolas were very good though when we used them.

Hey, bit of a far plea here perhaps but I'd rather like to be able to sync my exchange inbox and calendar with iCal/Mail on my mac at home. I've tried every possible variation of the webmail address for exchange 2007/imap/pop3 and installed the certificates. It works with activesync on my smartphone but I can't make it talk on any computer. I've also tried enterage with no luck. Is there something obvious in the server configuration that I could be missing? Web Access, IMAP and Pop3 are all enabled for my account and OWA/IMAP/POP3 are all set up with two servers. As you can probably tell I don't know very much about exchange... where would you look in the server config first for this kind of problem? (running exchange 2007 btw) Thanks, Ollie. =)

Hey again, sorry for the late reply, this is the first time I've actually been able to get at one of these Macbooks. They're getting to it by going through the wireless icon, join other network, show networks, selecting the school network and choosing "show password". Simple finder is too restrictive and we want them to be able to connect to wireless at home. Any suggestsions? Thanks.

Will replace one of the IT teacher's machine's with a C64 as soon as I find a VCR to act as a tuner. He'll love it haha.

Awesome, makes me want to grab a spare gator case from performing arts now and cram it full of equipment.

Few tutor groups went through a phase of having creatures last year but they seemed to all die off in the end. There's some fish in the library and one of the Biology teacher has his hamster (fluffy) from time to time. There's a cupboard full of jars of part dissected creatures in one of the science prep rooms. xD Old buildings were infested with squirrels we suspect, main fibre from server room got chewed through at one point... that cause a bit of a kerfuffle.

We didn't have any problems today... guess we were lucky.

Thanks, will give that a shot tomorrow... there's already been a failed attempt at it so I was thinking they may have already tried that but will have to see when I get at them tomorrow.

Hey, we've got a load of Macbooks (os x 10.5) running standalone from the network with non administrative users for students. Our problem is that they are connected to the wireless and students are able to view the key by going through the wireless icon in the menubar. Any idea how to stop them doing this, doesn't matter if it involves removing the icon either. These are not linked to our x-serve/domain in any way. Thanks, Ollie.

Thanks guys.

Yeh that's what I've done. That means that it'll work in school 'cause it's going through bgfl's eduproxy but I'm assuming that it won't work outside school because the proxy isn't acessible outside. Anyone outside of the Birmingham Grid who wouldn't mind checking.... http://www.arthurterry.bham.sch.uk/sixthform/blog/ The News Feed should be the last one in the sidebar on the right.

Hi, bit of a problem I'm trying to get my head around here.... Wordpress installed on our webserver (running server 2k3 and XAMPP). Inside school the BBC News RSS feed I put in the sidebar can't load. I can put the proxy settings into the wp-config.php file so it works in school but I can imagine that the feed will refuse to load outside school then as it can't find the proxy... haven't had chance to test this yet but I can imagine it will be the case. The web server has the administrative policy in lightspeed if that's at all relevant. Any ideas? I really could use the feeds to work in and out of school. Thanks, Ollie.

Don't expect any technology to last long in a hut. We used to have huts for English, the hard of hearing speaker system and only projector that ever went in a hut were nicked after just a few weeks of being in there.

Will take a look.

Our IT teachers are trying to fit it in where they can. SmallBasic with younger kids.... really really nice programme, makes it nice and simple. Visual studio and that lot for the older kids.

There was two of these in my classroom when I was in reception.

We used to use a video camera and a mahoosive BNC cable to a projector at the back of the hall. These days it's still done with a video camera on the conductor but to a plasma mounted at the back of the hall by video senders. We also have a camera mounted by the projector that goes into the technical room that I capture with the PC in there and stream out with media encoder.

Can't really be bothered to change live mail password.... :/ Will probably do it later when I've thought of a new password to use.

We have a registration bell, end of break, end of lunch and "get out 'cause we're locking & alarming" bell... well it's more of an electric "dong". In the olden days there was a bell to signal which year's turn it was to go into lunch but that's done by tannoy announcement now. Our radio clocks don't work in the buildings. I look up in the middle of lessons and excitedly announce that "it's quarter to 7!" too often.

Nucking Futter! Same XD.

This is what I done in the summer holidays

Ohh okay yeh it could be. We use a Strand Classic Palette as our main desk and a few small zero88 desks for the drama rooms. We bought two Mac 250s last year for the show and hired another 2 250s and 2 300s... I think they're going to buy two wash's for this year's show as well. Would be nice to get an atomic strobe as well rather than having to hire one every year.... wait... thread hijack... we need a thread for this stuff. This private school does sound rather good btw. =D -

I spied a fat frog... that's our spare light desk. The place does look amazing... can I move sixth forms?... hehe, makes our new build look ever so basic. They've basically considered and acted upon everything that was ignored at my place. Looking at the website it is indeed a BSF. Does that mean that IT has been outsourced or does it depend?
