Yeh WP blog sounds like it'd do the trick... I'd be interested to see how blogging type things can be used in our school in the future. I've heard that the head's well up for everything web 2.0'ish. However, if you want something more traditional that does indeed look whizzy then have a look at Pages (part of iWork on OSX). It's so easy to make jaw dropping stuffs. Take a look at our school newspaper, the resources guy puts it together and we get it printed on glossy paper. Hey guys, I'm trying to set up bginfo for students on our computers. I'd like to display how much free space the studets have in their home directory which is mounted as P. I can't find anything obvious within bginfo to make it display the free space for anything other than C. Has anybody else managed this before who is willing to lend me a hand? Thanks, Ollie

I just swapped a sahara out of a room for a sanyo last week.... it was pretty poor lol. Didn't see any obvious removable filters or anything.

As a student at the school also I find it annoying when restricted to the 15" tfts that are in some of the business rooms instead of the 19" widescreens in the IT rooms. I find it really is a lot nicer using a widescreen, even when just working with a few programmes and windows the extra width makes it a lot nicer. There is the obvious issues around the widescreen teacher computers, trying to find a res that's useable on the monitor and the projector is an annoying task 'cause it's going to look rubbish on one or the other whatever you do lol.

Like the kinda stuff they do on pimp my ride... always worth watching if you can stand Tim Westwood (or just watch the US version ) Carputer will be one of the first modifications I make to my first car. Torn between fitting the mac mini or buying one of these VoomPC-2 Car PC Barebone (Intel) hehe.

Hey all, wondered if anyone can help us out here. One of the IT teachers will be running a Microsoft course from september and for this we will need 10 identical machines that can be taken apart and suchlike. They do not have to be anything special, as long as they are identical and they work the spec is irellevant. So if anyone has some machines they are willing to donate we'll happily collect from anywhere as long as it's not too far from Birmingham. Thanks, Ollie.

All emails sent to ict-support are made into tickets on the web-based helpdesk (kayako). Every classroom has a phone in it and we carry radios (Vertex Standard VX-230s), plenty of people still prefer to just come to us which is no problem. We have a 52" plasma in the office that displays a list of tickets when it's not being used for other things.

How very geeky. Still got one of those beastly VESA cards somewhere along with my collection of soundblaster 16s.

Hi all, we're after a way to allow students to submit their ICT work efficiently. Currently we have a handin folder structure that allows students to drag their work into the handin folder in the correct department. We would like to have individual folders for each student that only that student can drop their work into. This is 100+ users that we'd like to do this for. Does anyone have any idea of the best way to do this? A script... piece of software etc? Thanks, Ollie.
