Can't see any threads on this yet... I see it's now illegal to unlock your mobile phone in the US, unless you have written permission from the network provide who locked it in the first place. What do people make of this? When your contracts up, would the cost of the handset not be covered in the 2/3 years of monthly contract payments? What if you want to keep the handset and don't want another contract with the current operator? Maybe a PAYG SIM for it instead? My contracts up in 3 months and I don't want another. Instead, I've found a cheap SIMS only PAYG option with another network that I'll be going with while keeping my current handset. I'll therefore be getting it unlocked at some point.

@TBlax - good to see you in game mate! DayZ Commander makes life a lot easier on that front! While I'm happy with the what went on last night, gutted that Corkster managed to kill me when he reached the land. Unloaded 7 DMR clips and 9 Stanag clips at him in the water. He was about 400m away and I had really low blood so was white screening and shaking. Then annoyed I got shot by a random on the way back to Muroko when I had a satchel charge!!! I'll focus on gearing back up again and making my way North to where you guys are today! If those three are on tonight, I'll hunt them down after. He was seriously gutted about his chopper though!

I've just read that the SIMS .net re-index database patch "cannot" be applied using the 'SA' account, but instead should be applied using the 'sysman' account instead! Is this correct? If so, why should it not be ran with the 'SA' account?

Betas are released to the LA via Schools Manager and SOLUS3. If your in a school, you can e-mail [email protected] and request Beta access. They will then e-mail you links and P/W's to access the ISO's if access is granted.

Not that I'm aware of. If the SIMS technical Roadmap (Dated Jan 2012!!!) is anything to go by, Windows 8 is not "officially" supported until the SIMS Spring 2013 release. Office 2013 is not on the current road map but for some reason, SIMS Autumn 2013 rings a bell for support (though I'm not 100%). Jonathan Wood said he was going to post the new technical roadmap on Friday gone but no sign of it yet. @PhilNeal, can we expect to see it this week? I've read on a few posts that some people have installed SIMS on Windows 8 for testing and it 'appears' to work but I would not go live with either Win 8 or 2013 in your live environment until they are officially supported.

Well, the SIMS, FMS and Discover Spring BETA is now available. I'm sure that previously for the Discover betas, links were posted on SupportNet. Now it appears you have to e-m,ail UAT for access. Getting my test VM's upgraded today. Hopefully all goes smoothly. I guess this also means that the full release will be 3-5 weeks away(?) and we'll be able to start looking at the SQL 2012 migration tools!

The latest SIMSInst appears to create it automatically now. It redirects to the SIMS Folder path specified when the SIMSInst.exe installer has been ran. This is where we (and I assume most people) keep their master Connect.ini file. Not sure if it's intelligent enough though to check if a connect.ini is in there or not, and if it's not, not create one automatically. Still best to check though by running SIMS .net after it's been installed. ...unless you use SOLUS 3 where it should push out the conenct.ini specified in the UI.

I have to disagree. I think it's a great app that enhances the use of XBMC. It's very slick app and well designed taking full advantage of the touch screen devices. I have it on my droid and iPad and the wife has it on her iPhone and has no issues using it. As for the whole "too many key presses", if you put it into the remote control mode and leave the app running, just unlock the phone and press the pause button - job done. Or enable the setting in app to disable the screen from locking so you have all the buttons immediately to hand just like a physical remote.
