All it will do is prevent new users for playing on it and it will then fade away.

Bad news. It sounds like the server has introduced a player white list so you can only connect if your name is on the list. Even more stupid is that there are no indications how you get your name on the list. Looks like a new home is going to be needed...
  3. Im looking for an SSD at the moment. It will be for the OS and generic apps and 120Gb is an ideal size. I've never bought one before so not sure which models are good, but I've heard bad thins about OCZ and that they have the highest failure and return rate to any other brand?
  4. After a year and a half, I've only just swapped from using the stock android mail app and replaced it with K-9 witch is completely free! And I'm gutted as I did not switch earlier as it's feature packed and easy to use. Can't comment on it working with Office 365 but it seems to let you add accounts for various mail technologies.
  5. I'd respond to that update with "Your Technical road map states otherwise." and then e-mail Jon Wood directly asking what they think they are playing at!
  6. Not now your on SQL2012! I don't believe SQL is backwards compatible. As SQL2012 is supported for SIMS and FMS from the SIMS Autumn release (as documented in the Capita Technical Roadmap), it's Capita's responsibility to get a SQL2012 instance set up to attach your data to. You won't be the only school who's made the move so they could have more SQL2012 backups being sent it for investigation. If SQL2012 was not yet supported for SIMS, I could understand Carita's response...
  7. I'm fairly sure there is no way, but though I would double check with SIMS Geekers. When trying to delete old rooms from SIMS that no longer exist (like port-a-cabins, old demolished sections of the building etc) sometimes your informed you can't delete them because they have been used in the timetable/exams area. Because SIMS is a historic database, I presume it needs the rooms for old information. The only work-around I can think of is renaming the rooms and sticking a 'Z' at the start of the short & long description to move them to the bottom of the room's list. Is this an acceptable work around? Or is there a way to delete dead rooms?
  8. As in how to give them access to SIMS being they are not set up in Personnel? You could set them up in System manager 7 as users not known to the system, assign them to the appropriate groups, and then when the leave, deactivate their account.
  9. There error points towards Main Supervisors. Maybe check them against all Year 11 classes? Also, OT, how come you are running such an old version of SIMS .net?
  10. I'm sure over that period, I cleaned out Colombia of their coffee reserves!!!
  11. Ahhhh, the beloved SIMS Summer 2012 release. Four different versions, not to mention about 17 exams patches....
  12. I've only ever experienced SIMS .net while working here at the LA and providing tech support. While it does have issues from time to time, I can't imagine it's any more "error prone" then other MIS packages. The only "minefield" I can think of if you go for SIMS is the dreaded word "SOLUS3".....
  13. Time to get XBMC on the DL? XBMC
  14. I'd go for the classic approach of a SIMS re-install. Rename/delete the C:\Program Files\SIMS\SIMS .net folder and re-run SIMSInst.exe. (Or redeploy from the SOLUS3 interface if your using it...) I don't suppose the error indicates the file it's complaining about?
  15. What version of Office are you using? I'm sure that Office 2007 was not supported back in the days of SIMS 7.114!!!

OBJECTION! There is not a single heli in that Video!!!
  19. When a device is plugged back onto the LAN, the agent "should" check the version on the workstation against the version on the server (witch is faulty at the moment, but @matt40k suggests it's fixed in the next release?) If this is fixed, it should work a lot better in the next release. However the issue of users loading SIMS before it's had a chance to update will no doubt crop up. A scheduled roll out (providing the device is online), a manual re-deployment from the DS to the client, or the auto-update function being fixed! Incompatible database errors I would think. Recovery steps? Redeploy and hope it re-installs SIMS correctly! You can manually push them out on demand, manually scheduled a upgrade to apply out of hours, or set up the "auto-deployment" feature which will auto-install any new updates/patches between a specified time.
  20. As @matt40k said just under that: This is a huge thorn in my side and causes no end of "Incompatible database" calls. In most cases, it's more miss than hit for us. Actually, I don't think I've ever seen a device upgrade successfully when it missed the main roll out.

Hence the TS server for "communications"!!! Nerf had a DMR, I was packing an M107, eventually someone would have been shot! Still don't think we were alone there as there was a large explosion.
