MS licesing to schools isnt that much - in the uk you are talking £20 per server per year which with 2012 licenses will give you two servers. If you draw out a diagram of what you would like to achieve you can then work out costs from that.

We use all lenovo - can't fault them - although if you want the slightly posher Windows 8 ones (such as the flip, yogi etc) they are currently a nightmare to get hold of as they are selling quicker than they can be shipped into the country!!

My Nephews school and one of the local academys are closed, secondary at the end of the road is planning to open and my last school is too.

My road has been closed by the police - mainly because people use it as a cut through for a main road and that in the last 3 days 4 cars have been written off into lamp posts! Roads are mainly fine here although have started getting very icy.

You can still run USB over Cat 5 as if you are planning to run the USB over 5m you need a booster box anyway to make them work correctly.

Ricoh with the embedded Papercut option is what I specced out for my last school along with biometric intergration linked to biostore for cashless catering.

I do this with one of my clients (non education but same principles). Site A - All Services held, file server, exchange, apps etc Site B,C,D,E,F,G - Domain Controller which replicates back to site A hourly along with a File Server which replicates itself back to the main file server at A for backing up. This means that everything critical is stored centrally but the speed on each site is fairly good for the clients. Read up about Active directory Sites.

I think the solution you may have seen is Xirrus although not sure if it will do quite what you want. I've been doing a lot of stuff with Meraki but it would probably require the same amount of AP's as Meru.

This might not be the best place to ask but people might have some idea as what is doing wrong. Within the BCM manager for Outlook 2010 - I am trying to add a new user - I select share database and then the instance which is fine - it then asks for the Database name but is not picking up the database from sql? Once connected to the instance - If i setup an ODBC connection and look there I can see the database instance fine just not when going through the BCM manager Any body any ideas where to look?

From what I have read and discussed (a Colleague here does does helicopter trips under one of the Helicopter companies out of Redhill who the pilot had done work for). 1. Pilot took off from Redhill for Hertfordshire and requested to be diverted to London Heliport in Battersea due to bad weather 2. The Crane which should be lit 24/7 has had multiple complaints about the fact that the light was not on/not bright enough (to both the Met Police and the developers) 3. The Helicopter is twin-engine and can survive one engine failing (which from the reports hasn't happened) 4. London Fire Brigade where on-site within 4 mins of the 999 call and managed to pull somebody from a burning car alive. (Source) It appears to be a tragic accident that this pilot has not for whatever reason seen the crane and hit it halfway along its boom arm which has caused catastrophic damage to the helicopter causing the accident.

I'm aiming to go out at somepoint this year - just for the experience!

Nice to see Meraki on here! I think I might fire you over lots of questions at somepoint - been rolling out quite a lot of Meraki kit recently not just the wireless but some of the MX security stuff too and have to say I love it!
