From what I understand when I installed it here, the secondary print server is more for installing on clients that have local printers attached so they can still be charged accordingly and as such doesn't have all of the features of the main page as most of it can be done locally anyway. What's the purpose of the second print server, is it just to spread the load? Rich

That looks nice, I've been using WHS for a while and really like it. However it's so annoying that you can't put a TV tuner in there and have a centralised recording centre.

I haven't been able to get to a command line yet. I'm going to do some digging and see if I can find some sort of setup in the Raid config. From what I can tell in addition to the main Raid volume it has a pair of mirrored disks which are showing up in the hardware Raid at boot but not in the openfiller congifuration and I am wondering if this is because of the way they are formatted. They currently have Windows Server and so I'm presuming a Fat file system, if I was to format these in the Bios somehow maybe it would see them then. Will keep you informed. Good luck with the Dell.

I think what was meant that you kept the IWB but the teacher could VNC on to the computer it was attached to and control it from the back of the classroom. It would make a much more engaging lesson rather than the teacher having to be stood in front of the board. It would also help keep an eye on the naughty kids who hide at the back of the class.

I've got some serial cables for promthean boards. The one's with the power adaptor plugged in to the back of the port as well, you can have them if you want?

Hi David, It came installed with windows 2003R2 on it, so the simple answer is I don't I'm afraid. Trying to find any information on the actual hardware is proving tricky. I would have hoped that it's proper Raid hardware though as the machine was designed to be a storage device. Any idea how to inject the drivers in to Open filler or should I look for another solution? Rich

Hi, I'm trying to install OpenFiller on to an Intel SSR212 and running into trouble. The disc starts up and I can walk through the GUI installer without any problems, setting up the partitions as defined in the guide, however when I then reboot it boots back into the windows that was previously installed. When I looked a bit closer what seems to be happening is that I'm trying to install OpenFiller onto the 10tb raid instead of the two mirrored HDDs that the Windows OS is installed on. However having re-run the installer it can't see this smaller drive and therefore let me install on to it. Anyone got any ideas or experience with this? Thanks Rich

Double up on everything! One of the first weddings I did I slipped and fell over just before the ceremony began smashing the flash gun from my camera. Made shots inside the church very tricky. Get in touch with some local photographers and see if you can assist them. I've been out on quite a few weddings with some excellent photographers and the amount I learnt was just unbelievable. Having said that, make sure it's someone you get on with and that they shoot they way you want to learn. There is a massive difference between a traditional stand in a line and grin photographer to a reportage photographer. Don't be bossy. I'm sorry but there is just no need. Yes when you are doing the one massive group shot then you will need to make sure everyone can hear you but do it with a sense of humour and people will react much better to it. When it comes to finding people for smaller groups then use the bestman/ushers/bridesmaids to find them, that is there job. Dress smartly, act professionally and try and enjoy the day. The best shots you get are when you and the people you are taking photos of are both relaxed, I know this might sound impossible but if you have done your homework and been out on a few shoots with other togs you will be fine. What camera and lenses are you using?

I suppose in reality it's not much different to any classroom activity, it just needs to be controlled with education and discipline. Like a lot of things it would require some good applications, but if Facebook could create some sort of sandboxed version to use in school it could be awesome.

Very interesting idea, but how do you keep the children focussed on the task in hand rather than just off and chatting to their friends/playing games and that sort of thing?

I've seen demos of those laser keyboards and they look great, ideal for a kitchen where you don't want anything to get physically messy. For a projector, I wouldn't put one of those Casio projectors in. Yes they are great when used in a school everyday due to lack of maintenance but you aren't going to use it that much at home. They are also not high definition which when you are going to blow it up on to a large screen can really make a difference. If you are going to go down the projector route it would be well worth running cabling into walls and ceilings before you move in if you can and also buying some very heavy curtains, preferably with blackout lining as this will give a much better effect. Hi, I was just wondering if anyone here has a good working Zimbra system and how they go about creating users and accounts? I was just wondering how much information you can import on the initial creation or is it just username, password as I'm being lead to believe by Link2ICT. Rich

He raises some good points, but actually implementing that in a school AND getting the teachers to go with it would be very difficult. Things such as making sure you are getting the best value for money from your Broadband connection and purchasing carefully make a lot of sense but I would think most people do that already.

Can anyone shed any light on this port? It's on the back of the Intel storage box and I think it's an external SAS port but I'm not entirely sure. If it is, can I use that to connect back to the NEC server? If not, what's the best way of physically connecting the servers to the SAN device? Rich

Ahh OK. I suppose it would also make sense to do it this way as I was hoping to move to Server 2008 instead of 2003. The other roles are the random little apps which Primary schools seem to love which are all on the DC at the moment and I don't like it. Would much rather they be on a separate low powered VM in case there is a problem. Rich
