  1. I think so. Is this correct? I have also restarted the server but the problem still remains :/
  2. I have created a self signed certificate on the server but I am still having the same problem. Thanks
  3. Yes, I have tried disabling the proxy server and a different browser. I haven't created an SSL certificate yet. That shouldn't stop it from displaying the page though, except for the usual SSL warning, but I just get page cannot be displayed. Thanks
  4. Hi Nick, Thanks for your reply. I have tried localhost too and I am getting the same problem :/ Thanks
  5. Hello, Firstly, HAP looks great and when we came across it we where very interested in setting up for our School. I have been following your video of setting up HAP v10 on WS2012R2 but I am having some trouble accessing the website once configured. I have setup a new WS2012R2 virtual server and installed IIS with all the roles and features required, configured HAP in IIS manager and the permissions required but when I try to open the website I get 'the page cannot be displayed'. I have gone through the video several times to see if I have missed anything, even removed it and started again but I still get the same problem. Please can you offer any suggestions? I am really looking forward to looking into HAP further Thanks
  6. Hello, We currently have Remote Access for staff via Microsoft RD Web Access which has remote apps available from a single Session Host server running server 2012R2. This was setup a little while ago by an external company and has been working well. Our SLT would now like us to extend this to allow students to have remote access in a similar way. This would be for around 400 students, however and compliment them bringing in their our devices and connecting to the guest Wifi and then connecting to remote access to work. I am just wondering of the requires needed to expand the solution really. So far I have considered additional RDCAL's and I am thinking we will need additional Session host servers to cope with the extra capacity however I am not sure how many students will be using it at once. I have always worked upon 20-25 users per session host server at a time but installing 10 or so Session host servers seems like too much. Perhaps it would be more of a case of setting up a single session host server with more memory and resources? Does anybody else have a similar setup and could tell me how they have provided for their users? Thanks
  7. Hey guys, Thanks for your help. I have now fixed the problem by amending the entries for the server name in ADSI edit. The dcdiag report is now showing as all passed and I can dcpromo the server. In sites and services > DC2 > properties the fields are no longer invalid and are populated correctly. Thanks for your advise and pointing me in the right direction
  8. Sites and services shows the proper name, DC2, however when I opened the properties it says invalid whereas our other two DC's show their name and domain. No DNS issues as far as I can see. I can see the SOA on each DC in DNS and each DC resolves the domain correctly displaying all DNS servers. No issues with logons or time. The only problem we are having is with our proxy possibly causing us intermittent slow downs for internet performance (see above reply). Thanks
  9. No DC2 isn't the role holder. It its GC but all the operations master roles are on a new server. I will have a look into burflags but it is odd as the replications appear to be working. Basically the reason behind this is that we noticed some slow downs with our Internet and was checking the logs on our router/proxy which indicated some errors communicating with DC2. Our proxy uses AD authentication to filter based on user group. So we turned authentication of and our internet performance improved. As we have two other DC's we decided that it would be best to try and demote DC2.
  10. As far as I am aware replication between the other 2 DC's we have is fine although there are some replication warning in the dcdiag tests. I have forced a replication to the DC2 and it worked okay. I was looking at amending the cn attribute on the objects attribute editor but I am unsure of the consequences. Thanks
  11. Hello, I have been trying to demote one of our domain controllers but it failed and I received an error during the process "the parameter is incorrect". Great So I have been running dcdiag on the dc and have gotten the following output: Directory Server Diagnosis Performing initial setup: Trying to find home server... Would anybody be able to help me with this? Thanks
  12. Hey guys, Thanks for your replies and for your advise. Much appreciated
  13. Hello, I am new to VMware and have recently setup a new server with VMware ESXi 5.1 (free). I have installed the VMware and configured the networking via the console and I am able to login to the host via the vsphere client. My question really is, before I start creating VM's, what are the post installation steps that people configure in the client? So far I have installed the licence key and configured the time. Most of the guides I have found don't seem to indicate there is much more to do and to start creating VM's, but I just wanted to get some feedback from others before I proceed Thanks
  14. Hi Kolpro & 3s-gtech, Okay so as I mentioned in my original post I use a startup script to install Office and by adapting this script I have added in a line to first completely remove Office 2010 and then install Office 2013 with customisations made in OCT (attached). I followed the following article which is for Office 2007 but works for 2010: How to automate the uninstallation of Office 2007 products via command line - Office Deployment Support Team Blog - Site Home - TechNet Blogs 1. You will need your Office 2010 installation source and locate the Config.xml file in the ProPlus.WW folder. I made a copy of Config.xml and saved it as UninstallConfig.xml (attached). To make the uninstallation silent you will need to amend it as below: 2. In the script add the line - start /wait \\server\share\Microsoft\Office_2010_Pro_Plus_(32-bit)\setup.exe /uninstall ProPlus /config \\server\share\Microsoft\Office_2010_Pro_Plus_(32-bit)\ProPlus.WW\UninstallConfig.xml Office 2010 will then be completely uninstalled and then office 2013 installs. Hope this helps, let me know if you need any more help. Thanks UninstallConfig.xml.txt Office2013ProPlus32-bit.bat.txt
  15. Hello, Yes I did. I added an extra line into our startup installation script which removes office 2010 first and then installs office 2013 afterwards. I have the script and details on my work PC so I will send you some more details tomorrow Thanks
  16. Hello, I have been looking at deploying Office 2013 via the OCT. I have used this previously to deploy Office 2010 and found it worked very with a startup script. So using OCT I have created a custom .msp file with various settings in like the activation key and to remove the previous versions of Office programs. All settings are applied but Office 2010 is not fully un-installed, leaving behind Microsoft Office 2010 Tools in the start menu and also listing Microsoft Office 2010 in Programs & Features list. I have tried adding in post install commands such as "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\microsoft shared\OFFICE14\Office Setup Controller\setup.exe" /uninstall PROPLUS /dll OSETUP.DLL but this does not seem to work. Has anyone else come across this and found a solution? Thanks
  17. Thankyou, I have heard good things about Veeam and of course about virtualisation but I am not looking to do this currently.
  18. Hello, I am looking into improving our current backup solution as our backups are running painfully slow and we are running out of storage. We currently have a HP Storage works disc array directly connected to our file server and run daily backups to disc on this. These are then duplicated to tape on a weekly and monthly basis. All backups are done using backupexec, just short of 2 TB of data on a full backup (mix of user data, shares, server backups, and exchange DB) and all of our servers are physical. As the B2D part of this solution is running very slowly I have been considering alternative solutions, such as a new disc array with more storage, separating our file server and backup server and locating a new backup server in another building for increased redundancy (perhaps then scrapping tapes). The tape part of our backups are running well but we are a using LT03 drive and full backups are using several tapes so I was also considering buying a new tape drive so we could store more on one tape. One solution that has caught my attention is the EMC data domain DD160 which offers inline de-duplication and could decrease the size of our backups and increase their speed. I was just wondering if anyone is using this already or what others backup solutions everyone else is using? All scenarios and thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

  20. We currently use backupexec 12.5. Would 2010 be worth upgrading to and could I considering 2012 is out? I have heard 2012 has had mixed reviews. Thanks
  21. Hello, I am looking at improving our backup solution. All of our servers are currently physical, however we are hoping to move towards virtualisation in the future. In our current backup solution we backup to disc and then to tape weekly. I am looking at replacing the B2D storage as this hardware is quite old, unreliable and is running out of space. It is a HP storageworks disc array connected to our file server so its purely just a storage devise. These seem to be reasonably priced and we could buy a new similar one with greater storage however I have noticed there are dedicated backup storage devices available such as EMC Data domain, which allows for de-duplication and could be beneficial as we currently have just below 2 TB of data in a full backup. Could anybody recommend any solutions or technologies for me to look further into? Thanks
  22. Nope backup to disc. I posted another post about the setup. Our data is also taking about 20 hours so two elements to troubleshoot http://www.edugeek.net/forums/enterprise-software/112174-backupexec-12-5-full-backups-50-hours.html#post959383 Backup rate for the exchange storage group, which includes the 80 GB staff DB and another unused DB, is 61 MB/min. Not great at all...
  23. Ahh sorry ignore me. I've checked in event logs and the DB in question says it has 27 MB free after online defrag. However this may not be accurate as it gets interrupted... what do you think? Still worth doing an offline defrag?
  24. Unfortunately not, which is fun troubleshooting all th various problems BE likes to through up Might look into getting one if possible, if I can't get anywhere with improving the backup times. Yes, have tried rebooting. Thanks
  25. Thanks for your reply Max_Power. Our DB is about 80 GB currently so I guess it will take about 15 hours or so. We have scheduled for email to be down one day next week over closure and I will make a backup too. Not sure how much white space there is. Is there a way of checking? I would love to ask users to do some housekeeping, but it won't happen unfortunately. Teachers!
