We have buffalo terastations (not sure how simular) but you should be able to log in using a browser (turn off proxy). default username is admin i think, not sure on the password though. There should be a disc with them you can install a utility that will probably help, or you may get it from the website. They are awful things and we have two, fortunately we got a server to replace them last year so now we just backup to them. Hope that helps

The display driver was already installed as soon as i logged in and checked so it would have come from windows. Not tried a bios update but I know there are alot of the travelmate 5### series that have xp and vista on. Will try both ideas on monday at work. Thanks guys.

We dont really have tough pc's (we have dell and hp mainly) but previously in the past we had the problem of vandalism - when I first started one suite had wooden covers glued to the front on the case because some kids had smashed them all... anyway the approach we took was caging the pc's under desks, some vertical others horizontal. TBH the cages aren't that well designed for people like us who may need to open them up etc, but they protect really well and out of about 200 pc's now cages not are vandalized at all. We had the cages custom made by Walton Designs Limited, Drawing boards, drawing desks, graphics, turnover drawing desk, art, art table, rack and pinion, desks, school furniture, school desks, stackable furniture, multimedia workbenches, low voltage power trunking, pect, pneumatics, They also desk mounted the monitors which dont protect but make more space and looks neater. As far as keyboards and mice, i found the standard dell stuff fairly tough.

Hi, I have an acer travelmate 5720 with windows xp installed. (Intel core 2 duo 2GHz, 2 GB Ram, 160GB HDD, about a year old). Anyway I decided to put windows 7 rc on it, which installs fine and found most drivers straight away, with the other 2 coming down through the solution center thing/windows updates. The problem is about every 20 mins it keeps doing a BSOD. Has anybody else had this issue, with the same, similar, different laptop/pc? Thanks.

What I have done so far is: Add the mac server to AD. Setup OD on the mac server. Created a group on the mac server. Clicked the + to add users but nothing happens. I presumed I would be able to see the AD users then and add them. Is this similar to your approach? Could you give me some more details of how you may have done it differently? Thanks

Hey, We have a small suite of macs at our college which is a windows network. We have a mac server with leopard server installed clean. We are able to bind the server and macs to the network and log in with domain accounts. The problem is group policies or equivalents for macs. How do we do it? I presume it needs to be done on the mac server. I have installed open directory and found preferences, changed a few things for the students security group but it could not save the changes. Also the macs are running tiger 10.4 and the server is leapard 10.5. Help much appreciated, totally new to macs on a network :]

Thanks for your replys guys. Looks in sys protection and there is no configure. Just find it odd that in server 08 shadow copies can be configured to run at what ever time etc but in vista even though you can turn them on I cant seem to be able to configure them.

Hey, I was wondering if there is a way of configuring shadow copies in vista (by configuring I mean setting times and drive limits not enabling them). I can do this on server 2008 by going to comp management > shared folders > shares > right click > all task > configure however this method doesn't seem to be in vista. Anyone know a way? Using vista business by the way. Thanks for any help :]
